Channah Gannon of CCMS basketball The Coffee County Middle School Lady Raiders opened up play in the TMSAA Area 6 Basketball Tournament on Tuesday at home.  In a game you heard here on Thunder Raider, Coffee Middle took on an unfamiliar opponent in Spring Hill.  The Lady Raiders exploded in the 2nd half to grab a 40 to 22 win.  After a cold shooting first half, the Lady Raiders trailed 15 to 12 at the intermission.  But Coffee County got the first 16 points of the 2nd half to seize control of the contest and advance to Thursday night’s...

Temple Baptist Basketball Drops Home Doubleheader

Alex Gloden of Temple basketball The Temple Baptist Christian School basketball teams welcomed Philadelphia Christian to the E.C. Bailey Gym on Tuesday night.  The junior varsity(middle school ages) squad dropped a 32 to 16 decision to the visitors from Georgia.   The varsity squad fell 37 to 25. CHS Freshmen Basketball Squads Drop Monday Games at Lincoln County

The Coffee County CHS freshmen basketball teams traveled to Fayetteville on Monday afternoon.  Both Raiders teams came up short in the MLK Day doubleheader.  The Lady Raiders fell 45 to 34 while the Red Raiders lost 53 to 44. A 16 point 4th quarter outburst by the Lady Raiders was not enough as they fell to the Lady Falcons.  Nia Sheffield led the Lady Raiders in scoring with 10 points.  Maggie Crouch added 9 points and Katelyn Davis finished with 5. The Nashville Sounds announced that they will host the Texas Rangers Winter Caravan at Ole Smoky Distillery and Yee-Haw Brewing Co. at 6th and Peabody on Wednesday, January 29 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Recently named Nashville Sounds Manager Darwin Barney will attend the event along with Rangers left-handed pitcher Brett Martin and infielder Nick Solak. Joining Barney, Martin and Solak will be Rangers Director of Minor League Operations Paul Kruger.
