Coffee Middle’s Lady Raider soccer team has yet to crack the win column this season. But the Lady Raiders are so close. After tying Rockvale 3-3 and then losing a 6-5 thriller to Franklin County, the Lady Raiders looked poised to get win number one Monday night but ended up tying Warren County 2-2 in McMinnville. CHS boys, girls golfers take 2nd in Monday outing at WillowBrook

Coffee County Central boys and girls golfers took second place in a three-team match Monday at WillowBrook Golf Course. The Raider boys were a mere 7-strokes shy of taking first – carding a team 361 behind Tullahoma’s 354. Franklin County turned in a 397. Freshman Noah Costello led the Raider boys with an 87, followed by Jack Stowe at 90 and a pair of 92s from Jacob Holder and Brady Daugherty. CMS takes third at Saturday volleyball playday

Coffee County Central High School volleyball welcomed several middle school teams from across the area to their annual tournament on Saturday at CHS. The Coffee Middle Lady Raider team made out with a third place finish, going 3-2 on the day. The CMS Lady Raiders ended up getting knocked out in the semi-finals by Eagleville, who went on to win the tournament championship. Meanwhile, the CMS Lady Raider JV went 2-2 to take 5th place, falling to eventual champion South Lincoln. FOOTBALL: Westwood opens season with blowout of Cannon County

Big plays in the first half led the way for the Westwood Rockets as they opened the 2022 football season with a 33-6 beating of Cannon County’s Lions in Woodbury. The Rockets took a quick 12-0 lead behind a pair of huge plays early. Quarterback Kaysen Lowery broke loose for an 85-yard touchdown run, followed by a 75-yard interception returned for a touchdown by Keller Hatfield.
