Nashville Soccer Club in conjunction with Major League Soccer announced today that the club will withdraw its participation in the MLS Is Back Tournament due to positive COVID-19 cases among its players. Nashville SC arrived in Orlando, Fla. on July 1, having taken all the necessary steps and following all the mandated protocols established by the league as well as local and national health authorities to minimize the risk and exposure to the virus. The much anticipated TSSAA Board of Control meeting to decide contingency plans for prep football and girls’ soccer provided no satisfaction on Wednesday.  The TSSAA office has been in conversations with Governor Bill Lee’s office to get an exemption from the governor’s emergency orders for the COVID-19 pandemic.  The governor’s office is still reviewing the plans provided by the TSSAA and has given no indication regarding an exemption to allow the seasons to start on time.  The TSSAA Board of Control voted on Wednesday to delay a decision on any of the 4 possible contingency plans until receiving more...

Major League Soccer announced that the MLS is Back Tournament Group A match between Nashville SC and Chicago Fire FC, scheduled for Wednesday, was to be postponed. Since arriving in Orlando, five Nashville SC players have received confirmed positive tests for COVID-19. Two of the players received the confirmed positive results during the weekend and three players received confirmed positive results last night.
