The Coffee County golf teams competed in the Keith Maxwell Invitational high school golf tournament on Tuesday in McMinnville. The Raider boys finished in 2nd place with a score of 313 with Cumberland Co. winning the championship with a 311. Matt Johnson led Coffee Co. shooting 74 coming in 3rd place overall. The Vanderbilt Commodores and South Carolina Gamecocks kicked off the college football season last night in Nashville. The Gamecocks got an early 10-0 lead but saw Vandy come back to tie the game at half. In the 3rd the Dores grabbed a 13-10 advantage but South Carolina came back with TD early in the 4th and held on for the win. The Coffee County Red Raiders hosted the Raider Invitational golf tournament on Wednesday at Willowbrook. 21 teams competed from around the state in what has become one of the premier high school tournaments in Tennessee. At the end of the day there was a 3-way tie for first between Hendersonville, Cookeville and Hardin County, all shot 300.
