Middle School Lady Raiders Win Championship

The playoffs begin for the over-30 basketball league Aug. 4 at the fitness center here. The championship game is scheduled to take place Aug. 10 at the fitness center gym here.The Coffee County Middle School Lady Raiders broke open a tight game in the 4th quarter to beat DeKalb Middle on Saturday night to win the Woodbury Border War Tournament. Leading 22 to 20 after 3 quarters, Coffee Middle turned up the offensive pressure to pull out the 35 to 26 win. The Lady Raiders were paced by Julia Duncan’s 12 points and Abby Morgan’s 7 points. Ellie Graham added 6 points and Alisha Jennings added four 4th quarter points.
The Red Raiders were not as fortunate as they got off to a cold shooting start to fall to Westside by a final score of 44 to 21. The Red Raiders could only manage 2 points in the 1st quarter as they finished as the runner up in the boys division of the Woodbury Border War Tournament. Harley Hindshaw led the Red Raiders in scoring with 6 points while Andrew Mahaffey finished with 4 points.
The Raiders and Lady Raiders travel to Cowan on Monday night to open conference play as they take on South Franklin. Tipoff for the girls game is 6 PM.
