Aerial Williams scored the first 7 points of the game on Friday night in Columbia as the Coffee County Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Lions 54 to 40. Williams finished with a game high 17 points earning the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the game honor. Coffee County raced out to a 12 point lead after 1 quarter and Columbia was never able to get any closer all night long. Bailey Morgan added 14 points and Holli Smithson added 8 points for the Lady Raiders as they improved their record to 7 and 7 overall and 1 and 2 in district play.
The Red Raiders had a strong first half as well they held a short-lived lead in the 2nd quarter over the Lions. Columbia found their shooting touch in the second half as they stretched their 3 point halftime lead to spoil Coffee County’s upset bid 62 to 36. The Lions outscored Coffee County 42 to 19 in the 2nd half as the Red Raiders fall to 7 and 8 on the year and 0 and 3 in district play. Grant Sadler led the Raiders in scoring with 9 points as he was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the game. Wyatt Day had 8 points while Kohl Young finished with 5 points.
Coffee County will be back at home on Tuesday night as they welcome Franklin County to the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. The girls’ game will tipoff at 6 PM.
