100 pounds Marijuana found after Traffic Stop
A traffic stop in Tennessee turned into a big drug bust when authorities found 100 pounds of marijuana stashed in a motorhome. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper observed several indicators of possible criminal activity after making the stop in Marion County. The trooper called for backup and received permission to search the motorhome. The trooper and his K-9 found several duffel bags and boxes in the bedroom area. American Legion Post in Manchester Hosting 3rd annual “Stomp”
The American Legion Post in Manchester will be holding its third annual “Stomp” on September 3rd at the Manchester/Coffee County Conference Center. A “Stomp” is a gathering of bikes; however, they have designed this for all in the community. Over 30 vendors will be set up similar to a “street fair”. UPDATE–Lockdown at Two Manchester Schools on Wednesday
On Wednesday afternoon Westwood Middle and Elementary schools in Manchester were placed on lockdown around 2 p.m. Someone called police and reported that a man armed with a gun was near a home on Oak Street just before 2pm. The subject fled before their arrival. Donald Corey Myers age 33 of Carter St. in Manchester was captured a short time later and taken into custody. The arrest warrant says that Myers broke into a home and threaten the occupants if they didn’t produce drugs for him. THP Pursuit starts in Nashville ends in Coffee County
Scotty W. Bell, 39, of Hermitage, TN is being held in the Coffee County Jail under a bond of $128,000 after leading the Tennessee Highway Patrol and other officers on a high speed chase along I-24 Wednesday. According to warrants obtained by THP Officer Donnie Clark, officers were notified of a 2006 Nissan Altima traveling toward Coffee County that was involved in an armed carjacking in the Nashville area. On August 15, 2016, officers of the Tullahoma Police Department responded to Dossett Apartments, in regards to a man on the ground and unresponsive. Investigators are waiting on results from the TBI on the testing of evidence. Carlos Joseph Harris Jr., 21, of East Grundy Street was found with a stab wound to the chest. Man Dies after Officer-Involved Shooting in Shelbyville
An officer-involved shooting took place Wednesday night in Shelbyville. Shelbyville Police Department responded to the scene after a report came in of a hostage situation in a camper. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is saying that 53-year-old Jeffrey Darren Hosea was apparently holding his son at gunpoint. According to reports, officers said they witnessed Hosea committing this act, and when they entered the camper, Hosea then pointed the weapon at an officer. Animals Seized from home in Tracy City
Police officers and an animal protection organization seized 21 animals from a home in Tracy City on Wednesday. Tracy City police officers discovered the animals during a welfare check after the property owner was involved in a serious car accident. Officers found dogs in makeshift pens made of scrap fencing and plywood, scattered around the property. The pens were filled with animal feces and dozens of dead rats. Rescuers reported the dogs were all underweight and didn’t have access to food, clean water or veterinary care.
