Two Accidents on I-24: One Fatal
Wednesday night Manchester Fire-Rescue responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-24 westbound at the 115 mile marker. The reported incident was a truck on its side, and person trapped. Crews responded to the incident and found a box truck on its side in the median of the interstate. Crews working together with Jeff’s Towing service were able to upright the vehicle and extricate the individual from under the Penske moving truck. Sentencing Delayed for Former Grundy Co. School Teacher
Thomas (Scooby) Andrews a former teacher and coach in the Grundy County School system was set for sentencing last Friday for two counts of statutory rape. Judge Curtis Smith delayed his decision after character witnesses spoke for Andrews, that attorneys have 10 days to submit further information, which he will review and make a sentencing decision. Andrews, 41, pled guilty to two counts of statutory rape in June. At the time of his December 2015, arrest, Andrews was a teacher at Swiss Memorial Elementary School and assistant football coach at Grundy County High School. He was immediately suspended of...

Former ITT Tech Students Declare Debt Strike After School Closes
Dozens of former students and graduates of ITT Technical Institute – which has campuses in Chattanooga, Johnson City, Knoxville, Cordova and Nashville – today are declaring a debt strike. The civil action means they will no longer be making federal loan payments for the debt they incurred while students at the for-profit institution. The U.S. Department of Education announced it would deny federal financial aid payments to the institution last week after receiving complaints about the school. Tullahoma Female facing several charges after alleged Wal-Mart Fraud
A Tullahoma resident was arrested after she allegedly fraudulently returned items to Wal-Mart on North Jackson Street on Sept. 9. According to a report by Tullahoma Police Officer Tyler Walls, the store reported that Lisa Cantrell Elser, 49, of South Franklin Street had allegedly taken an item off of the shelf and too the service desk for a refund. When the officer checked wants and warrants he found that she had 14 active warrants for her arrest. There were seven warrants for burglary and seven for criminal trespassing. Items Stolen from Habitat for Humanity Construction
Elisa Chessor of Habitat for Humanity reported on Sept. 8 to police the theft of items from a house being constructed on East Moore Street. She told Tullahoma Police Officer George Dodson that someone took 35 feet of copper wiring, a 25 foot extension cord and an electrical panel from inside the construction site. Chessor told the officer that the items were seen around 7 p.m. the day before. She said that the house under construction was locked and she was not sure how entry was gained into it. Motlow State Community College will host its annual area-wide College and Career Fair on Thursday, Sept. 15, inside Nisbett Center on the Moore County campus. Motlow invites its student body, students from area high schools, those who are homeschooled, and the general public. New Tennessee Law allows Pharmacists to Dispense Overdose Antidote
A new Tennessee law allows authorized pharmacists to dispense an overdose antidote. The Tennessee Health Commissioner said in a news release that administering the drug known as Naloxone can reverse opioid effects and prevent death in many cases, allowing time for the person to receive further medical treatment. Pharmacists must enter into a collaborative practice agreement and take a training course. The pharmacist can dispense Naloxone to a person at risk of opioid overdose or to a family member, friend or other person to assist someone at risk of overdose.
