Tennessee to receive Federal Grant
Tennessee is among 18 states that will receive more than $247 million in federal grants to continue expanding access to high-quality preschool for children from low- to moderate-income families. The grants are jointly administered by the U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services. This is the third year of awards to states working with local communities to prepare vulnerable children to succeed in school and afterward. Open House set for the Sheriff’s Department
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department will be hosting its annual open house on Saturday December 3rd, 2016 from 8am until noon at the new jail at 76 County Jail Lane. Sheriff Steve Graves and his staff will be providing public tours and refreshments at the new facility. This will be the 2nd year for the open house at the new jail so the sheriff and his staff would love to see everyone. Two Tornados Hit Coffee County
According to officials with Coffee County Emergency Management Agency, the storms on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning brought several trees and power lines down. No one was injured as emergency crews worked through the night Tuesday into the early morning hours on Wednesday. The National Weather Service confirms that an EF-2 tornado hit Tullahoma Tuesday night. A few homes sustained damaged with trees falling on them. Two People Injured in Coffee County Crash
Two people were injured on Tuesday afternoon, around 5:30 PM after two vehicles collided on the Woodbury Hwy. The two individuals were transported by Coffee County EMS with unnamed injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol was called to the scene along with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department and EMS. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is asking all citizens to assist in spreading the word of a recent scam that targets senior citizens. If anyone contacts you or a family member and identifies as Mike Bell, Sgt. Ricky Summers or Judge Thomas C. Sportsmen and Businessmen’s Organization Donates to Law Enforcement Christmas Charities
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff Steve Graves would like to thank Pete Sain, one of the founders of the Sportsmen and Businessmen’s organization for their recent donation. The generous donation will be used by the sheriff’s department for the annual Christmas charity. Each year the department supplies food and toys to those in need.
