Weekend Fire at Continental Apartments in Manchester
Manchester Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire at Continental Apartments on Ester Lane on Saturday afternoon (February 3, 2018). When crews arrived on the scene they saw light smoke on the first and second floors of one of the buildings. Crews made an aggressive search of the area to locate the fire and found the activity in the laundry room between the first and second floor. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and checked out the facility. One resident was transported to Unity Medical Center for smoke inhalation. Six People Charged in Winchester Murder Case
On Friday, (February 2, 2018) the Franklin County Grand Jury met, and indictments were obtained for the murder of James Leon Wood, 50, of Winchester, Tennessee. Wood had previously been reported as a missing person on January 18, 2018. A search warrant of Wood’s residence was performed on January 25, 2018. As a result of the search warrant, Wood’s remains were found on the property of the residence. Indictments were obtained for six individuals. Seven Deaths due to the Flu in Tennessee
The Tennessee Department of Health reported Thursday that seven people have died from the flu in the state. The department says three children died in East Tennessee. Three more children died in Middle Tennessee and there was a pregnancy-associated death. The health department is still urging people to get the flu vaccination this season. Health department clinics across the state are providing vaccines at no charge. Two-Vehicle Crash Takes the Life of Tullahoma Female
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol there was a two-vehicle crash just after noon on Friday in Decherd on Monroe Floyd Road. 41 year-old Christy M. Sharp of Tullahoma was driving a 2012 Kia Sorrento when it collided nearly head-on with a 2015 Ram pickup truck driven by 74 year-old Joe D. Little of Decherd. Deer Lodge, TN man Arrested in Manchester for Drugs & More
Last Wednesday (January 31st, 2018) Manchester Police Officer Daniel Ray stopped a vehicle at the corner of McArthur and Keylon streets for a traffic violation due to neither person wearing a seat belt. Permission was given to search the vehicle. Ray allegedly located a plastic baggie in the passenger floorboard where Brent Andrew Morgan age 38 of Deer Lodge, TN was sitting. The arrest warrant states the baggie contained a pill bottle, that also contained a plastic baggie.
