Iliff Leighton Wiser, age 85 passed away on Monday June 1, 2020 in Valparaiso, Indiana. He was born on August 30, 1934 in Hughes Arkansas. Proceeded in death by his parents Cyril and Mary (Iliff) Wiser and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine (Booth) Wiser; son, Leighton E. Wiser; daughter and son-in-law, Amy R. and Jonathan R. Bell; grandchildren, Leighton E. Wiser Jr. and Jordan Shelton Tokarz; as well two sisters Lana Gaines and Margaret Foreman.
Iliff was an extraordinary father and grandfather, a loving husband, a leader, a mentor and a man with an amazing sense of humor. He had so many good times with nieces and nephews, and created an enormous amount of memories for all. He worked at American Bridge with his father prior to serving in both the United States Army and Marine Corps. He graduated from American School in Chicago, IL. In 1962. On September 4, 1978 he married his wife Lorraine. Iliff worked at Pullman Standard, Allied Steel and numerous other steel fabricating plants as a layout fitter and welder until retirement. He retired to Valparaiso, IN. where he spent time gardening and just being with his family. He enjoyed all types of farming, guns, listening to his music, and a cold one at the end of the day.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. at Manchester Funeral Home, in Manchester, TN. with Kenneth Ray Wiser officiating. Burial will follow at Duncan Cemetery with Military Honors.
