7/9/12 — Janie Dodson

Janie Dodson, age 99 of Estill Springs, passed away Friday July 6, 2012 at United Regional Health Care in Manchester.

A devout Christian Pentecostal, she received the Holy Ghost at a young age while working in the corn field. She read, studied and lived by the Bible. A wise and frugal woman of strong moral and ethical character, she taught her children by example to love one another and not talk about one another. She was a Charter Member of the Vine Street Church of God. To feed her family she made and sold bedspreads at the Owens Spread Factory, walking several miles each way to sell her goods. She loved her garden, canning and horses. In 2007 she was crowned Sr. Ms. Tennessee by United Regional Health Care.

Mrs. Dodson is preceded in death by her husband R. K. Dodson; a son, Robert Knowles Dodson, Jr.; daughter, Juanita Frances Rowlett.

She is survived by her children, Leona Thomas of Tullahoma, Harold (Martha) Dodson of Decherd, Mary Ruth (Joe) Williams of Tullahoma, Ann (Alvin) Harper of Manchester, Rose (Ronald) Williams of Belvidere, Ocie (Jimmy) Garner of Fairview and Danny (Patricia) Dodson of South Haven, MS.; 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 62 great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Monday July 9, 2012 with Leon Williams officiating.

Interment will follow Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Estill Springs with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Sunday evening July 8, 2012 from 5-9 p.m.
