3/24/12 — Mary Ruth Combs

Memorial services for Mrs. Mary Ruth “Toby” Combs age 85 of Manchester will be conducted Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church with Father Jim Tubbs officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Combs passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at her residence.

She was born November 17, 1926 in Jackson County, Alabama the daughter of the late Jonce August Paradise and Sarah Hart Paradise.

In earlier years, Mrs. Combs graduated from St. Mary’s School, Sewanee and went on to work at Oak Ridge where she met and married Lewis Combs in 1946. They moved to Coffee County in 1957. She worked in retail in Manchester for many years to include Redford’s Dime Store and Bargintown. Most recently she was employed at the Manchester Coffee County Library. She was a longtime member of St. Bede’s Episcopal Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Combs; a granddaughter, Stacey Lee Bussell; and brothers and sisters, David, Henry, Willie Mae, Wallace, Grady and Sadie.

Survivors include three children, Mary C. Trice and husband, Mike of Fisherville, KY; Sarah Lee Bussell of Manchester; and Robert Lewis Combs and wife, Becky of Manchester; five grandchildren, Paige Turner and husband Troy, Denise Bryant, LeAnne Evans and husband, Matthew, Lewie Combs and wife JoAnn, and Andy Bussell; 5 great-grandchildren, Troy Turner, Daniel Turner, Jordan Bussell, Ashley Evans and Olivia Evans. Also surviving are two brothers, R. Stanley “Stan” Paradise and wife, Shirley of Birmingham, AL and Aubrey “Bo” Paradise and wife, Marion of Decatur, AL and special family friend, Lisa McCoig.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Manchester Coffee County Library 1005 Hillsboro Blvd., Manchester, TN 37355 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 201 West Lincoln Street, Tullahoma, TN 37355.

Coffee County Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
