Roy Phelps Angel, age 87 of Hillsboro, Tennessee and former Nashville resident, passed away on December 25, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Mr. Angel was a retired high school teacher; a World War II United States Navy Veteran; a 32nd Degree Mason; member of the Nashville Masonic Lodge #375; member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge #382; served as past Past Grand Master of the South East Pastmasters; a Shriner; served as the first President of the Refrigeration Service & Electrical Service Organization (R.S.E.S. ); a former member of the Donelson Heights United Methodist Church;and a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Fannie Martin Angel who passed away in 2007; parents, Roy D. Angel and Carrie A. Phelps Angel; and sister, Jennie Angel Lea.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer G. Angel Riddle and her husband Jim of Hillsboro, TN; son, Dwayne Angel and his wife Marilyn of Willoughby, OH; two grandchildren, Robin Mayton of Smyrna, TN and Dean Riddle (Christal) of Richburg, SC; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Mayton, Jordan Mayton, Cody Riddle and Jayson Riddle; and a host of friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A Masonic Service will be conducted on Saturday morning, December 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to immediately follow with Dr. Bob Jared officiating.
Burial will be at the Shady Grove Cemetery with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 201 West Lincoln St., Tullahoma, TN 37388 or the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, 305 Winchester Hwy, Hillsboro, TN 37342.
