Marion Burton Riley, age 74 of Tullahoma passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Tullahoma. Memorial Services will be held Monday, December 22 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Fields officiating. Visitation with the family will be Monday, December 22 from 12 PM until 2 PM.
A native of Memphis, he was the son of the late W N “Bill” and Lyda Goodwin Riley. He was a U S Navy veteran and worked for many years as a Machinist. He was a 1960 graduate of Tullahoma High School and enjoyed getting together with his classmates throughout his life. He was also a member of the Machinist Union and attended monthly breakfasts with fellow retired coworkers. He was a member of Wesley Heights United Methodist Church. Mr. Riley was an artist in wood. He enjoyed making and restoring furniture. He also enjoyed working with water colors. He and his wife, Patsy were members of the Foothills Crafts Association in Manchester, where they sold many craft items. He also enjoyed collecting stamps. Mr. Riley was a “charming man who made friends wherever he went”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Damron.
In addition to his wife, Patsy Coker Riley of Tullahoma, he is survived by one son, Neil Riley of Tullahoma; one daughter, Dale Deflice and her husband, Louis of Panama City Beach, FL; one brother, Bill Riley and his wife, Ruth of Rotunda West, FL; two sisters, Carolyn Lackey and her husband, Hugh of Dallas, Texas and Rebecca McCagren of Birmingham and two grandchildren, Samuel and Maxwell Deflice.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Hospice Compassus or Wesley Heights United Methodist Church.
