Flower 12Funeral services for Gregg Richard Beitel, 57, of Murfreesboro, TN, will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Friday, in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 till 8:00 PM Thursday evening at Tullahoma Funeral Home. Gregg went home to be with our Lord on Monday, September 29, 2014. He is survived by his devoted wife, Myra Beitel and three beloved children; Natalie, Hayley, and Roscoe, all of Murfreesboro, TN.
A native of Charlotte, NC, he was born November 22, 1956 to Robert Beitel and the late Mary Huber Beitel. Gregg is also survived by his father and stepmother, Ann Beitel, of Lake Wylie, SC; brother, Wade Beitel (Jill), Charlotte, NC; sister, Gayle Jester (Royston), Lynchburg, VA; mother-in-law Lavoyce McGee (Braxton Ratcliff), Tullahoma, TN; sister-in-law Amy Young (Rodney), Fayetteville, GA; brother-in-law Larry McGee (Melissa), Tullahoma, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Purdue University with a BS in aerospace engineering, obtained a master’s degree from Georgia Tech in mechanical engineering, and did doctoral studies with the University of Tennessee Space Institute in fluid thermodynamics. Gregg enthusiastically used these skills while working as a research and testing engineer for Aerospace Testing Alliance at Arnold Engineering Development Center in Tullahoma for over 30 years.
Gregg thoroughly enjoyed his time with his family, encouraging his children toward excellence in academics, various sports, and other activities. He especially enjoyed participating with them in the All-American Soap Box Derby and made many friends both locally and across the country.
He was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Murfreesboro, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations for home missions in memory of Gregg can be made to Northside Baptist Church, 655 West Thompson Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.
