SHIRLEY HEREFORD VANHOOSER, age 78, of Decherd, Tenn., departed this life on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Alive Hospice St. Thomas in Nashville, Tenn. following a brief illness. Ms. VanHooser was born on March 22, 1938, to the late Albert A. Hereford and Florence Walls Hereford in Princeton, Ala. She was a native of Alabama and made her home in Franklin County where she resided most of her life. Ms. VanHooser was of the Baptist faith. She was employed for many years first at the former Decherd Franklin Factory and then at Shaw Industries as an inspector.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy VanHooser, four sisters; Ailene Hereford, Paulene Parsekian, Linda Hereford and Lois Hereford and five brothers; William Hereford, James Moody Hereford, Dee Hereford, Edward Hereford and Horace Hereford. She is survived by three sisters; Betty Walker of Greenhaw, Brenda Johnson and husband Charles of Estill Springs, Barbara Bouton and husband Ernie of Manchester and many special nieces and nephews, including, Victor Myers and wife Anne, Jason Ikard and wife, Kelly, Judy Carter and husband Anthony, Brent Walker and wife, Michele, Kent Walker, Clint Walker, Brenda Simmons, Shirley Hall, Kim Ship, Anthony Wilcox, Ricky Hereford, Rita Storey, Patrick and Carlton Parsekian, Janie Nanaud and husband, Tony, Jennifer Lazenby and husband, Bill and Joy Thornberry.
Visitation for Ms. Hereford is scheduled for 5:00-8:00 P.M. Friday evening October 21, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 22, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. Ray Gardner, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd.
