For the second time in less than a week a Tullahoma area church has been the victim of a break in. Thieves entered the Covenant Presbyterian Church on Wilson Avenue in the late hours of Wednesday or early Thursday morning. Tullahoma Police Sgt. Robert Weaver found a rear door to the church building open around 2:48 a.m. Thursday morning while doing a safety check of the building. The officer entered the building and found several drawers and closets had been ransacked and a safe had been pried open. The officer reported that there were a number of items scattered in the floor. A church official arrived and after survey the building and found that $60 had been taken from the safe and a video projector was missing. Detective Sgt. Dale Stone is investigating the burglary. Meanwhile, Detective Ty Brazier is following up on leads into the burglary of the Cedar Lane Church of Christ that was discovered Monday morning. In that burglary, thieves opened the safe and removed over $20,000. Anyone with information about these two burglaries is asked to call Tullahoma Crime Stoppers at 461-8888 for a possible reward up to $1,000 or contact either Detective Stone or Brazier at 455-0530.
