Average retail gasoline prices in Tennessee have risen 2.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.66/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 2.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.86/g, according to gasoline price website TennesseeGasPrices.com. All prices are based on 87 octane. Local Man Honored By AEDC
Dozens of people gathered to see Kirk Rutland honored in a ceremony at AEDC recently. Rutland, a Navy employee and technical director of the Test Systems Sustainment Division at AEDC, received the Navy’s Superior Civilian Award for Valor for his heroism after a vehicle wreck June 17 in Manchester. Manchester Police Investigator Butch Stewart arrested Chastity N. Richardson from Decherd for taking over $2,000 in items from the Manchester Wal-Mart. A person reported to police that they had seen the photos on the WMSR radio web page and identified the female. Richardson had been arrested in Chattanooga on September 11, 2012. The woman was held up in a house on Spring St in Decherd. Man Facing Arson Charges
One man has been arrested on arson charges, and investigators are continuing to investigate another fire. John Matthew Lee, 19, of Marietta, Georgia, is being held in the Coffee County Jail under a $25,000 bond after being arrested by Sheriff’s Investigator Sgt. Danny Ferrell for burning a mobile home. According to the investigator, Lee admitted to throwing gasoline into a broken window of a mobile home on General Lee Drive located in Lakewood Park and setting it on fire.
