Tullahoma Looking At Downtown Rehabilitation
The Tullahoma Board of Mayor and Aldermen will consider an engineering package to go toward a major downtown rehabilitation project during the meeting tonight. The city has also been trying to improve its appearance to attract new residents and businesses. There are plans to refurbishing the downtown area with the State of Tennessee paying 80 percent of the construction costs. The city was notified last year that the state is going to fund the project. Homecoming was special for Coffee County football fans as a large M greeted everyone at mid-field. The M was in remembrance of the former name of Coffee County Central High School when it was called Manchester Central High School. Homecoming 2012 became even more special by the end of the night as the Red Raiders defeated Franklin County in a great ballgame 21-20. Last night at the Coffee County Administrative Plaza a debate was held between 47th District State Representative candidates incumbent Judd Matheny and challenger Scott Price. The event was put on by WMSR Radio to better inform voters on several issues. The debate featured discussion time on jobs, TennCare, education, tort reform and more. Violent Sex Offender Found
A convicted violent sex offender was arrested Thursday in Franklin County and is being held in the Coffee County Jail under a $1 million bond. Jason Blake Holt, 22, of Woodbury had been missing Oct. 6 when he allegedly cut off his GPS monitoring device while at Hullett’s Shell Station in Manchester while he was with he’s wife. According to Manchester Police Investigator Billy Butler, Holt had been convicted of three counts of attempted rape of a child. Alto Man Dead After Shooting
An Alto man is dead, and a Winchester man is being held in the Franklin County Jail following a shooting in downtown Winchester. According to Winchester Police Chief Dennis Young, the shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday Gregory Morris Booton, 49, of North Jefferson had a verbal altercation with John Franklin Tucker, 46, of Alto in the 200 block of North Jefferson street. After a few words were exchanged, Booton allegedly shot Tucker multiple times. Tullahoma Mayor Wants To Work Together
Representatives from Manchester and Tullahoma city boards, along with members of the county commission, have been invited to a joint meeting Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Tullahoma City Hall. Tullahoma mayor Lane Curlee said that he thought that it is important to get the leaders together and start concentrating on our strengths. Groundbreaking For New Tullahoma Business
City of Tullahoma and National HealthCare Corporation (NYSE MKT: NHC) are pleased to announce the official groundbreaking of the new facility. The event will be held Tuesday, October 23 at 2:00 pm at the Cedar Lane site. The new skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, which will be located on Cedar Lane, will have 90 beds and at full operation will directly employ over 100 employees.
