Homecoming was special for Coffee County football fans as a large M greeted everyone at mid-field. The M was in remembrance of the former name of Coffee County Central High School when it was called Manchester Central High School. Homecoming 2012 became even more special by the end of the night as the Red Raiders defeated Franklin County in a great ballgame 21-20.
With only 50 seconds gone in the 1st quarter Coffee County would take the lead on a Deangelo Rozier 78 yard run and Peyton Meeker 2-point conversion it was 8-0. The Rebels would come right back and score but Justin Smith would block the extra point making it 8-6 Raiders. Rozier who finish the game with 3 TD’s and 230 yards would score again to make the score 15-6 Coffee County at halftime.
In the 2nd half things did not look good for the Red Raiders when Franklin County would score twice and take a 20-15 lead. Coffee County would not quit as they kept fighting, and an inspired defense would keep the score at 20-15 until Rozier got loose again on a 72 yard run for his third touchdown.
The defense led by Jonathon Lyda and Ben Hosea would stop the Rebels from scoring again helping the Raiders win their 2nd win in a row. Lyda, Hosea and Rozier earned Tri-Gateway Tire Players of the Game.
Alaina Lusk was named Homecoming Queen and Dallon Lush King.
Coffee County will host Cookeville this Friday for Senior Night.
