Free State Parks Day For Veterans

Tennessee State Parks announced its annual FREE state parks day for all Tennessee veterans on Monday, Nov. 12, offering one free night of camping and complimentary greens fees for 18 holes of golf with appropriate identification. The free day on Nov. 12 is in addition to Tennessee State Parks’ current veterans’ policy, which includes a camping discount within the state parks system and is available annually beginning November 1 through March 31, offering a 15 to 25 percent reduction off the standard nightly base rates (depending on the type of site chosen). U.S. drivers should see lower gasoline prices in the fourth quarter of this year. The national pump price is expected to average $3.56 per gallon during the period said the U.S. Energy Information Administration in its new monthly short-term energy outlook. Donnie Jones Charged In Megan Sharpton Murder

Donnie Jones, 37, of Tullahoma, has been charged with first-degree murder in July 2 death of Megan Sharpton, 24, also of Tullahoma. Jones is also facing felony murder, two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping and two counts of aggravated rape in Sharpton’s death. Sharpton’s partially burned body was found by a passerby in the early morning hours of July 2 of this year on Awalt Road near the bridge in Franklin County. Marijuana Busts In Manchester

The Manchester Police and the Coffee Sheriff’s departments worked together Monday to bust two individuals for possession for resale marijuana. The departments used a tip that the duo would be attempting to sell the 1lb of pot to someone they were to meet at Hullett’s Shell on the Woodbury Highway. The Budget Season Begins In Tennessee

Election Day also marked the start of this year’s budget season in state government. Gov. Bill Haslam’s Administration is asking departments to at least prepare for cuts of five percent.
