Proposal To Ban Alcohol Sales To People With Multiple DUI’s Fails
A House panel has defeated a proposal to ban alcohol sales to people with three or more drunken driving convictions. The House budget subcommittee rejected the measure on a voice vote this week. The bill would have required the words “No Alcohol Sales” be printed on the license of people with at least three DUI convictions for between five and fifteen years. The measure would have required affected drivers to pay the $12 to include the language on the licenses. The father of a toddler, who was shot in March, was indicted by the April term of the Coffee County Grand Jury. Martin Jackson Anderson, 20, of A Street Hillsboro was indicted on charges of two counts of aggravated child abuse of children under 8-years-old and two counts of reckless endangerment by the April term of the grand jury. For the first time in history, Tennessee travel has exceeded 100 million domestic person stays. That’s according to the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. Tourism results for 2014 confirm a record-breaking year for Tennessee tourism. Total travel to Tennessee for 2014 was 101.3 million, up from 96.4 million in 2013, an increase of 5.1 percent. The City of Tullahoma will observe Arbor Day on National Arbor Day, Friday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend the Tree Board ceremony to honor the establishment of the city’s first arboretum. The ceremony will be held at the Sunrise Rotary Disc Golf Course, where the arboretum is located (at East Park behind East Middle School).
