Braves keep rolling with 13th straight win
If losing their All-Star second baseman to injury the night before fazed the Braves, they sure didn’t show it in the hours leading up to their Tuesday game against the Nationals. Then they took the field knowing they’d be without Ozzie Albies for a significant stretch, really for the first time, and just kept on rolling.
Atlanta didn’t miss a beat in extending its MLB-best 13-game win streak, socking five more homers en route to a decisive 10-4 victory at Nationals Park. The Braves’ 13-game streak is the longest in the Majors this season, the club’s longest since the 2013 team reeled off 14 in a row and tied for the third longest in the franchise’s modern era (since 1900). The 2000 Braves won 15 straight to set the franchise’s modern era record.
“You feel like you’re on top of the world, when you keep winning every night,” said rookie center fielder Michael Harris II. “I feel like we’re doing everything in every aspect of the game.”

Evans named Main Street Preps All-Midstate Softball Team
Coffee County Central Lady Raider Olivia Evans has racked up another postseason honor.
Earlier this month, Evans was named to the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association Midstate All-Star Team – an honor that culminated in her playing in a series of games on Tuesday, June 14.
Now Evans has picked up another postseason accolade. She was named Third Team All Mid-State by Main Street Preps.
Evans was consistently on base for the Lady Raiders this spring. She hit at a .494 clip with 31 runs scored, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 16RBI and led the team in stolen bases with 18. Combined with 14 walks, her on base percentage came in at .562. That follows up a 2021 campaign that saw Evans hit .523. She has been an anchor for the CHS defense in centerfield.
Olivia – more affectionately known as “Gig” by many in Lady Raider land – graduated from CHS in May and has signed to play her college softball at Tennessee Tech next year.

Braves win 10th straight behind big 7th inning Saturday
Hours before LeBron James expressed his admiration for Ronald Acuña Jr. on Twitter, Braves manager Brian Snitker was driving to Truist Park thinking about where his young outfielder ranks among the most exciting players he has ever seen.
“I don’t know that I’ve seen anybody like that in my time, and I’ve seen a bunch of Hall of Famers and some that aren’t Hall of Famers that are knocking on the door, where you just go ‘Wow,’” Snitker said. “This kid is almost on another level with what he can do.”
Acuña created another jaw-dropping moment and again performed like one of professional sports’ most exciting athletes while helping the Braves extend their winning streak to 10 games with a 10-4 victory over the Pirates at Truist Park on Saturday. The energizing outfielder hit his latest leadoff home run and scored from first base in dramatic fashion on a single.
“He’s actually pretty quiet and when he gets out on the field, it’s his chance to unleash whatever is in there,” Braves starter Charlie Morton said. “Watching him play is a window to an opportunity to see something I don’t see a whole lot of. There’s a language barrier, and oftentimes there can be a cultural barrier. Sometimes baseball gives you a unique window of being able to see somebody in a way you didn’t before.”

Braves win 7th straight, powering up in NL East
Austin Riley is surging toward another 30-homer season and Ronald Acuña Jr. is performing like a superstar again. But if evaluating why the Braves have suddenly gone from mediocre to red-hot, you can’t overlook the great impact Michael Harris II has made since arriving in the Majors.
Harris tallied two hits, including a go-ahead two-run triple in the fifth, to help the Braves extend their winning streak to seven games with a 13-2 victory over the A’s on Wednesday night at Truist Park. The reigning World Series champions have gone 8-3 since promoting the 21-year-old outfielder from Double-A Mississippi on May 28.
“I was just coming up here and expecting to do what I did in the Minors,” Harris said. “I feel like I’m doing pretty much the same thing, just feeling comfortable going out there and trying to help us win. We’re on a streak, so you can’t ask for more.”
There was plenty for the Braves to celebrate, as they swept this two-game series with the help of Riley, Ozzie Albies, Adam Duvall and William Contreras, who all homered to back Ian Anderson’s strong start.
