Coach Terry Floyd Gets 250th Win As Coffee County Beats Cookeville

It was nervous night for the Lady Raiders as they were trying to keep their unbeaten District 6-AA streak alive in Cookeville. They were also trying to give Coach Terry Floyd his 250th career win as head coach of the program. Coffee County jumped to 3-0 lead after 3 ½ innings and saw the Lady Cavs tie it up in the 4th. The Lady Raiders pushed across a run in the 5th to take the lead back. Coffee Co. hung on for a 4-3 win. The Lady Raiders are 30-0 since joining the district in 2010. Bethany Baker and Chelsea Howell had 2 hits and 1 RBI each.
Congratulations to Coach Floyd on win 250.
Coffee County will host the Coffee County Classic starting Friday afternoon and running all day Saturday.

Motlow Sports Update

The Motlow Bucks and Lady Bucks will wrap up their baseball and softball regular seasons during the next few days, then begin making preparation for the upcoming Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA)/Region VII Tournament which begins May 6th in Chattanooga. The Bucks (32-21, 9-15) have an opportunity to move up in the conference standings when they travel to Gallatin this weekend to face rival Volunteer State in a three-game series. Friday’s single game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with Saturday’s doubleheader scheduled for a noon start. The Bucks dropped their final home game 9-2 to non-conference opponent Wallace State on Tuesday at the Driver Baseball Complex, where Motlow posted a 23-8 home record this season.

The Lady Bucks (18-26, 4-13) could also secure a higher seed in the tournament when they host Roane State for a single game on Friday at 1 p.m. The two teams played one game on Mar. 31, but the second contest was postponed due to rain. Motlow will host nationally-ranked Wallace State on Monday at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader that was originally scheduled for Mar. 25, but was postponed due to inclement weather. The Lady Bucks had an opportunity to move up in the conference standings when they traveled to Cleveland State on Tuesday but dropped a doubleheader 5-4, 5-2 to the Lady Cougars. The Lady Bucks will be one of four teams involved in ‘play-in’ games, with the two winners advancing to the conference tournament.

In game for home field advantage in the District 6-AAA baseball tournament Coffee County hosted Warren County on Tuesday night. Pitcher Kyle Douglas had a big night knocking in 3 runs and pitching the Raiders to 4-3 win. Peyton Meeker got the save with 2 huge strikeouts in the 7th inning. John Reese Gilmer added 2 hits. Coffee County will take on Shelbyville on Friday.

Lady Raider Softball Wins 20th Game

For the 2nd night in a row Bricen Hunt was the winning pitcher as this time Coffee County defeated Tullahoma 11-1 in 6 innings. Senior SS Taylor Gullett had 4 RBI’s on Monday got 5 more Tuesday night in Tullahoma. Gullett had 2 homeruns to help lift the Lady Raiders to their 20th win of the season. Coffee County is back on the road tonight in Cookeville.

Another Championship For Coffee Co. Track

The Coffee County Lady Raider track team won its 3rd district championship in a row yesterday. The ladies scored 129 points with Cookeville and White County tying for 2nd place with 47.5 and Warren County scoring 21.
The Red Raider boys came in 2nd in District 6-AAA with 88.5. Cookeville finished 1st with 107.5, Warren Co. came in 3rd with 29 and White Co scored 25.
Raider track coach Stan Jarrell was very proud of both his teams for their great performances.

Coffee Co. Boys Soccer Finishes 2nd In District

Coffee County soccer defeated Warren Co. 3-0 in their last district game of the year on Tuesday.
Scoring goals were Baltazar Barrera and Will Duke in the
1st half, and by Ricky Ramirez in the 2nd half. David Morgan earned the shutout in goal, and also had an assist on the Ramirez goal. The win clinched 2nd place in District 6-AAA.
The Raiders play Lavergne on Thursday for the last regular season home match.

Predators Head To Round Two

Nashville Predators will hit the ice with the Phoenix Coyotes in the next round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Phoenix eliminated the Chicago Blackhawks Monday night with a 4-0 victory at Chicago.
The Preds won game five against Detroit Friday night in front of a sold-out crowd at the Bridgestone Arena.
The Preds split four games with the Coyotes this year.

The Motlow Bucks baseball team (32-20, 9-15) swept Covenant College 5-4, 14-2 on Monday. The Bucks close the season this weekend in a three-game series at Volunteer State.

Lady Raider Secure District 6-AAA Championship

Last night Coffee County fell behind 2-0 to White County in softball but then got hot going on to win 10-2. The Lady Raiders had 11 hits led by Taylor Gullett with 3 hits and 4 RBI’s. Freshman Bethany Baker added 2 hits and knocked in 3 runs. Baker was named the Gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game. Freshman Bricen Hunt picked up the complete game win 11 strikeouts on Senior Night. The wins gives the Lady Raiders another District 6-AAA Championship.
Coffee Co. plays at Tullahoma tonight at 7pm.

Raiders Fall In High Scoring Game

The Raider baseball team had a wild game at Warren Co. falling to the Pioneers 11-9. Peyton Meeker had a 3-run homer and a double and Tyler Cavender added a 2-run shot.
Coffee Co. will host Warren Co. tonight at 6:30pm and you can hear the action live on Thunder Radio.
