The Motlow Bucks and Lady Bucks will wrap up their baseball and softball regular seasons during the next few days, then begin making preparation for the upcoming Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA)/Region VII Tournament which begins May 6th in Chattanooga. The Bucks (32-21, 9-15) have an opportunity to move up in the conference standings when they travel to Gallatin this weekend to face rival Volunteer State in a three-game series. Friday’s single game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with Saturday’s doubleheader scheduled for a noon start. The Bucks dropped their final home game 9-2 to non-conference opponent Wallace State on Tuesday at the Driver Baseball Complex, where Motlow posted a 23-8 home record this season.
The Lady Bucks (18-26, 4-13) could also secure a higher seed in the tournament when they host Roane State for a single game on Friday at 1 p.m. The two teams played one game on Mar. 31, but the second contest was postponed due to rain. Motlow will host nationally-ranked Wallace State on Monday at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader that was originally scheduled for Mar. 25, but was postponed due to inclement weather. The Lady Bucks had an opportunity to move up in the conference standings when they traveled to Cleveland State on Tuesday but dropped a doubleheader 5-4, 5-2 to the Lady Cougars. The Lady Bucks will be one of four teams involved in ‘play-in’ games, with the two winners advancing to the conference tournament.
