In the District 6-AAA softball tournament last night (Tuesday) in Manchester Coffee County defeated Cookeville 5-0. The win pushes the Lady Raiders into the championship game on Wednesday afternoon at 5 against the winner of tonight’s game between White Co. and Cookeville. Niki Campbell had a big night with 2 hits, scoring twice and knocking in 2 runs. Chelsea Howell added 3 hits and pitcher Brianna Jones got the win striking out 10. Coffee Co. is now guaranteed a trip to the region tournament starting Monday.

Season Continues For Red Raider Baseball

Led by Peyton Meeker’s 2-run homer the Coffee County Red Raiders kept their season alive with 7-2 win over Warren Co. in McMinnville. The two teams will play again tonight at Powers Field starting 6:30pm with the winners season continuing. Kyle Douglas pitched 6 strong innings in the win.
Thunder Radio will have the broadcast of tonight’s game starting at 6:20pm.
Titans Come To Manchester
The Tennessee 14th Titans Caravan, a regional series of school visits and free, public autograph signings came to Manchester yesterday. Former Titans Blaine Bishop and Frank Wycheck appeared at College Street Elementary School. This was a non-public event.
Raiders Fall In District Tournament
The controversial calls gave the Pioneers 3 unearned runs enough for the win.
Senior Sean Davis was named the Gateway Tire Player of the Game with 3 hits and 2 RBI’s.
The Raiders play at Warren County tonight (Monday) beginning at 6:30pm. If Coffee County wins a third game between the teams will be played at Powers Field on Tuesday.
Lady Raiders Roll–Play Again Tonight
Anna Spellings hit her 5th homer of the year a 3 run shot to end the game.
The Lady Raider will play host to Cookeville tonight at 7pm. A win tonight puts Coffee Co. into the championship game. Tonight’s (Monday) game will be heard live on Thunder Radio.
Tournament Time For Motlow
The Motlow Bucks will open the 2012 Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) Tournament when they face Cleveland State on Sunday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga State Community College in Chattanooga. The Lady Bucks will face Dyersburg State Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Bucks (32-24) enter the baseball tournament as the eighth seed, while the Cougars from Cleveland State are the ninth seed. The winner of Sunday’s contest will advance to face the top seed Walters State, which is currently ranked 10th in the nation, Monday morning at 10 a.m.
The Lady Bucks (19-26) enter the softball tournament as the seventh seed, while the Lady Eagles from Dyersburg State are the tenth seed. The winner of Sunday’s contest will face second seed Volunteer State, ranked 15th in the nation, Monday afternoon at 4 p.m.
The baseball tournament winner will be crowned as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region VII champion on Friday afternoon and will advance to play the number-one team from Georgia, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. The softball tournament winner advances to the National Championship in St. George, Utah.
Preds Impressive In Win
Pekka Rinne made 32 saves as he returned to his dominating form, Mike Fisher scored his first goal of these playoffs, and the Nashville Predators found their rhythm with a 2-0 win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday night in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinal series.
Phoenix still leads 2-1 in the series that will continue with Game 4 in Music City on Friday.
Coffee County Wins An 11 Inning Classic

In an 11 inning classic Coffee Co. got by Riverdale Wednesday night 2-1 on Alumni Night for the Lady Raiders. 28 former Lady Raiders and a huge crowd saw a fantastic game. Riverdale scored one in the first and held a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the 6th. Bricen Hunt came up with a big RBI single to tie the game. The game would move into the 10th inning which means the international tie-breaker. The batter that makes the last out in the previous inning starts the next inning at 2nd base with no outs. Riverdale got a runner to 3rd and hard hit ball sent the runner home but 1st baseman Niki Campbell made a diving play and threw the ball home to get the Lady Warrior trying to score. In the bottom of the 11th Chelsea Howell was at 3rd with Karlie Benedict at the plate. Benedict hit a Rachel Albritton pitch up the middle. Riverdale’s 2nd baseman reached as far as she could as the ball went off the tip end of her glove scoring Howell with the winning run. Benedict and Campbell were named Co-Gateway Tire Players of the Game. Coffee Co. will host the District 6-AAA tournament beginning Friday with the Lady Raiders playing Saturday night at 7pm.
Coffee County Knocks Off Tullahoma
The Raiders will take on Warren Co. Saturday night at 6:30pm in first game of District 6-AAA tournament. The game will be live on Thunder Radio.
Lady Raiders Drop Game To Baylor
The Lady Raiders will host Riverdale Wednesday night, it’s Alumni Night come on out for the 7pm first pitch. Thunder Radio will have the broadcast starting at 6:50pm.
