Babe Ruth District Tournament Results

The Manchester Babe Ruth 15 year-old All-Stars took on Franklin Co. on Sunday night at Fred Deadman Park. Manchester moved on in district play with an 18-11 win.

Kick-Off Time Changed For Titans Road Game

The kickoff time has been changed for the Tennessee Titans’ game at Minnesota on Oct. 7.
The game will begin at 3:25 Central time instead of noon.
The change was made to accommodate the Twin Cities Marathon that starts near Mall of America Field at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

Manchester 15 Year-Old Babe Ruth All-Star Competes In Tournament

The Manchester 15 year old Babe Ruth All Stars dominated on the mound, allowing just three hits and a single earned run in their 12-2 rout of the Fayetteville All-Stars in six innings Friday night in Manchester.
Kyle Douglas had a triple, single knocking in 3 runs and was the winning pitcher for Manchester.
On Saturday night Manchester lost to 7-6 to Franklin County.

Golf Tournament Raises Money

At a recent a golf tournament held at Willowbrook money was raised to help the Manchester Kiwanis Thursday night club and the Old Timers Day Organization. The event raised over $4,000. The name of the tournament was 1st Annual WillowBrook Fore!Man Scramble was won by Tyler Freeman, Butch May, Major Shelton and Randall Robinson.

Titans Ready For Training Camp

The Titans have set their training camp practice schedule, which will include 12 practices open to the public at Baptist Sports Park and one open practice with the Atlanta Falcons in Georgia.
The first opportunity fans will have to see first-round draft pick Kendall Wright and his 2012 NFL Draft rookie classmates is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 29.
All practices that are open to the public are free to attend and have been scheduled for evenings and afternoons.

Yankees Win Babe Ruth Championship

Kyle Douglas knew the game was in his hands as he stepped up the plate, with teammate Andrew Henley representing the winning run with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday in the Babe Ruth Championship in Manchester.
Douglas did not disappoint.
He lined a single into right field, scoring Henley and giving the Yankees their second straight city championship with a 6-5 victory over the Reds.
The players will now turn their attention to the Babe Ruth All-Star teams. The 13 and 14-year-old team will play their tournament in Tullahoma, while the 15-year-old tournament will be held in Manchester next week.

Red Raider Golfer Wins Championship

Andy Sout accepts trophy

Coffee Co. high school up and coming junior golfer Andy Stout competed in the Tennessee Jr Golf Masters Division Tournament at the Hermitage CC-General’s Retreat. Stout won the championship with a two day total of 143. Shooting 74 on day 1 and came in with a 69 on day 2 to win by 3 shots. Stout had birdies on 4 of last 5 holes.
Stout was the only player to shoot under par for the tournament.

Jeff Breeden Takes Over MTSU Softball

Riverdale and former Coffee Co. Lady Raider softball coach Jeff Breeden has resigned and accepted the same position at MTSU.
Breeden, who guided Riverdale to the 2009 Class AAA state championship, leaves after 22 seasons as a high school head coach. The past nine were at Riverdale. He was at Coffee County for 13 years prior to going to Murfreesboro. He leaves with a 764-190 career record.
Breeden said after accepting the job, “I am anxious to get started with Middle Tennessee,” Breeden said. “I believe Middle Tennessee is a hotbed for softball and I think we can build the program up with local talent.
“This is a dream come true for me. To be able to coach on the highest level, I could not be happier. I expect great things in the future for this program and university.”

Suter Leaves Preds

According to a report in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Ryan Suter has reached a deal with the Minnesota Wild.
The paper reports the defenseman has agreed to a 13-year contract.
Suter, 27, was drafted seventh overall in 2003.
He has played with the Nashville Predators for the last seven years.
Suter scored 46 points last season and averaged more than 26 minutes per game.
