Riverdale and former Coffee Co. Lady Raider softball coach Jeff Breeden has resigned and accepted the same position at MTSU.
Breeden, who guided Riverdale to the 2009 Class AAA state championship, leaves after 22 seasons as a high school head coach. The past nine were at Riverdale. He was at Coffee County for 13 years prior to going to Murfreesboro. He leaves with a 764-190 career record.
Breeden said after accepting the job, “I am anxious to get started with Middle Tennessee,” Breeden said. “I believe Middle Tennessee is a hotbed for softball and I think we can build the program up with local talent.
“This is a dream come true for me. To be able to coach on the highest level, I could not be happier. I expect great things in the future for this program and university.”
