Lady Raider Soccer Picks Up Win

Coffee County girl’s soccer was in action yesterday taking on Webb School. Coffee County’s Katie Reed who is having a great season had her 2nd hat trick of the year with 3 goals leading the Lady Raiders to a 4-1 win. Alex Ellison added a goal in the win. Coffee County plays at home today (Sept. 6, 2012).

Coffee Co. Beats Tullahoma In Volleyball

The Lady Raiders volleyball team started Coffee Pot week off with a win over Tullahoma. It took 5 sets but Coffee Co. got the job done on Tullahoma’s home court. The Lady Raiders won set one 25-15 lost set two 23-25. In set three Coffee Co. won 25-16 but fell 28-30 in set four. In the final set the Lady Raiders won the match 15-10. Coffee Co. plays at Franklin Co. Wednesday night (Sept. 5, 2012).

Coffee County Plays Very Well In Warren County Tournament

The Coffee County golf teams competed in the Keith Maxwell Invitational high school golf tournament on Tuesday in McMinnville.
The Raider boys finished in 2nd place with a score of 313 with Cumberland Co. winning the championship with a 311.
Matt Johnson led Coffee Co. shooting 74 coming in 3rd place overall. Andy Stout shot 76 followed by Justin Mooneyham with an 80 and Kyle Johnson had a score of 83. The Raiders won 14 matches and had one loss. The Raiders overall record now stands at 67-23.
The Lady Raiders won 6 matches falling in 6 with a score of 190. Hollee Sadler and Devin Green both had scores of 95. Cookeville won the championship with a team score of 164. Coffee Co. girls are now 33-16 on the season.
The Lady Raiders host 16 schools today (Sept. 5, 2012) in the Coffee Co. Invitational.

Here are results of the Choo-Choo Classic Volleyball tournament that Coffee County competed in.

Ooltewah lost 11 to 25 and 20 to 25.

Hixon Loss 15 to 25 and 11 to 25.

Sullivan East lost 23 to 25 and 2 3 to 25.

Warren Co. lost 14 to 25 and 15 to 25.

Grace Christian lost 16 to 25 and 25 to 27.

Ridgeland, Ga won 25 to 17 and 25 to 17.

1 and 4 record for the tournament….. The Lady Raiders are now 5 and 5 on the year.

Vandy Falls Short In Opening Game

The Vanderbilt Commodores and South Carolina Gamecocks kicked off the college football season last night in Nashville. The Gamecocks got an early 10-0 lead but saw Vandy come back to tie the game at half. In the 3rd the Dores grabbed a 13-10 advantage but South Carolina came back with TD early in the 4th and held on for the win.
The star of the game for Vanderbilt was receiver Jordan Matthews with eight catches for 147 yards and one touchdown.
The Commodores are on the road on Saturday Sept. 8 at Northwestern.

Titans Win Final Pre-Season Game

On a night that did not see a lot offense fans did see the Tennessee Titans defeat the New Orleans Saints 10-6. RB Jamie Harper scored the only TD on a run in the 3rd quarter. The Titans only managed 226 total yards in the win. Tennessee will host the New England Patriots on Sunday Sept. 9 and you’ll hear it live on Thunder Radio.

Red Raiders Host Golf Tournament

The Coffee County Red Raiders hosted the Raider Invitational golf tournament on Wednesday at Willowbrook. 21 teams competed from around the state in what has become one of the premier high school tournaments in Tennessee.
At the end of the day there was a 3-way tie for first between Hendersonville, Cookeville and Hardin County, all shot 300. After a several hole playoff Hendersonville finished 1st, Hardin County 2nd and Cookeville 3rd.
The Coffee County boys shot 312 good for 14 wins and 6 losses. The Raiders were led by Kyle Johnson with a 74. Senior Justin Mooneyham shot his career low with a 77 followed by Garrett Adams came in with an 80 and Matt Johnson shot 81. Coffee County was playing without outstanding Junior Andy Stout who was suffering from a medical condition.
Eli Clutter led the junior varsity with a career low 83.
Coffee Co. is now 53-25 on the year.
Next up for the boys and girls teams will be a tournament in McMinnville on Tuesday.
