College Football Hall of Fame Will Locate In Atlanta

Groundbreaking for the new College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta will be January 28 and the museum is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014.
The National Football Foundation, which runs the Hall of Fame, made the announcement Monday.
The new site is in the Centennial Olympic Park area downtown near the Georgia Dome and World Congress Center. The College Football Hall of Fame was located in South Bend, Indiana, near the campus of Notre Dame, for 17 years. It closed Sunday.
The new Hall of Fame has a price tag of $66.5 million, with the 94,256-square-feet hall facility costing $54 million. Both public and private funds will be used.
The NFF announced three years ago that the hall was moving, but fundraising issues forced several delays in the project.

Best Vanderbilt Season Since 1915

Jordan Rodgers threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score as the Vanderbilt Commodores capped their best season in nearly a century Monday by beating North Carolina State 38-24 in the Music City Bowl.
The Commodores finished 9-4 for their best record since going 9-1 in 1915.
Vanderbilt forced a season-high five turnovers, including four in the first half, and turned those into 17 points.

Munchak Will Remain As Titans Head Coach

Titans head coach Mike Munchak will be back for the 2013 season, but there will be changes in the front office.
Titans owner Bud Adams said Munchak “is the right guy to get the job done” but the team’s senior executive vice president and former general manager Mike Reinfeldt was fired.
Munchak is 15-17 in two seasons as head coach.

Raiders Win Over Hume-Fogg

Lance Crismond makes a move for two

Coffee Co. boys picked up a win in basketball on Friday as they defeated Hume-Fogg 44-40 in the Central Magnet Classic in Murfreesboro. The brother combination of Lance and Lucas Crismond scored 15 each. Head Coach Scott Givins who got the win over his brother in the game said he was proud of the boys for effort in the win. He said Addison Carter, Lake Elam and Anthony Jackson played big in the win.
Coffee County (5-9) in boys play and (6-9) in girls on the season plays its first district game Friday at Warren County.

Butler Beats Vandy In Basketball

18th-ranked Butler Bulldogs shook off a sluggish start and routed Vanderbilt 68-49 Saturday night for their seventh straight victory.
Kyle Fuller led Vanderbilt with 10 points. Kedren Johnson finished with nine, well below his average of 17.8 points and didn’t score until nearly three minutes into the second half.
Vandy will host William & Mary Wednesday night at 7pm.

Tennessee Wins Final Game Of The Year

Tennessee became the first team in NFL history with two players scoring twice on returns in a game as the Titans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 38-20 Sunday in their season finale.
Darius Reynaud scored on two punt returns and rookie linebacker Zach Brown returned two interceptions for touchdowns.
The Titans (6-10) finished by winning two of their final three games, which may be enough for owner Bud Adams to keep coach Mike Munchak with two years left on his contract.

Raiders Play In After Christmas Classic

After trailing 25-22 at halftime the Coffee County Red Raider boy’s basketball team battled Kingsbury out of Memphis throughout the 2nd half only to fall 45-44. The Raiders are competing in a classic at Central Magnet School in Murfreesboro. Coffee County was led by Lance Crismond with 25.
Today the Raiders play at 4:30pm against Hume-Fogg.

Local Man Headed Into Hall of Fame

Don Rhoton of Tullahoma is headed to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
He was coach at Franklin Co. High School from 1975 to 1986.
From 1989 until 2006 Rhoton coached baseball at Motlow State Community College, compiling and impressive record of 669-268. He led teams to seven Division Titles, two State and two Region Championships, a second place finish in the Junior World Series (2000) in Grand Junction, CO.
He concluded his coaching career at Webb.

Get Your Music City Bowl Tickets

Tickets are still available for next’s week 15th annual Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.
Vanderbilt University will take on North Carolina State at LP Field on Monday.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and range from $17 to $80.
In 2011, 55,208 fans attended the Bowl game between Mississippi State and Wake Forest.
Established in 1998, the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl has transformed the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day into one of the city’s busiest times of the year for tourism.
Since its inception, the Bowl has produced $207 million in direct economic impact to Nashville.

Lady Raiders Fall In Difficult Games

It was another close game for the Coffee County Lady Raiders as they played Ezell-Harding in the Smokey Mountain Classic on Friday afternoon. The low scoring game went in favor of Ezell-Harding as they won 32-31.
The Lady Raiders got a big day from Ginny Clayborne as she scored 19 with Alaina Lusk adding 10.
On Saturday Coffee County lost to Casey County, KY., 44-42. The Lady Raiders lost 3 games in the Smokey Mtn. Classic by a total of 5 points.
Ginny Clayborne led the Lady Raiders with 12.
The girls are off this week but the boys will be in Murfreesboro on December 27th and 28th at the Central Magnet Tournament. The boys will play Kingsbury on Thursday the 27th at 4:30 and Hume-Fogg on Friday the 28th also at 4:30. We will keep you updated with results and schedules on our website, wmsrradio.com.
