Friday afternoon the Coffee County Lady Raiders picked up its first win of the basketball season as they defeated Grundy County 55-16. Sydney Pearson led the way with 13 points, followed by Tyger Fenton with 12. Coffee County is 1-1 on the year.

In boys action the Raiders moved to 2-0 on the season with a 49-46 win over the boys from the mountain. Peyton Talley was the high scorer for Coffee County with 16 and Wyatt Day added 15.
Coffee County will travel to Grundy County on Tuesday with the girl’s game starting at 6pm and you’ll hear the action on Thunder Radio.

Coffee County Red Raider freshman QB Alontae Taylor has been selected for the Adidas Freshman All American Bowl in San Antonio, TX in January. This a great testament to the 2014 Coffee County program!
Taylor by the way led the country in rushing yards for freshmen with over 1,700 yards according to MaxPreps.com which is a national website for high school sports.

The Motlow College basketball teams were back in action on Saturday at they hosted Volunteer St in TCCAA games. In the women’s game, thanks to great defense Vol St held a 39-29 lead at halftime. In the 2nd half Lady Pioneer Ta’Keyha Flowers scored 27 of her game high 39 as Vol St picked up the 85-76 win. The Lady Bucks tried to keep it close by hitting 11 3-point shots but came up short. Former Coffee County Lady Raider Lauren Brown led Motlow with 22 points.

In men’s play, it was all Motlow from start to finish. The Bucks won the conference match-up 114-64. Motlow had 8 players hit double figures, led by D’Andre Downey’s 18.
The only bad thing that happen to Motlow was a fight broke out in the 2nd half. All-American DeQuan Miller was tossed from the game along with two Pioneer players. Miller will have to sit out the next game. The Lady Bucks and Bucks will travel to Cleveland St on Friday and Chattanooga St on Saturday.

AaronsluckydogThe Aaron’s Sales and Lease Student of the week for 14 November 2014 is Christopher Blaylock.Christopher is in fifth grade at Robert E. Lee Elementary School in Tullahoma. He is the son of proud parents Jennifer and Jim. He was nominated for this award because he is helpful to his teacher and classmates and he is also a great student. Christopher’s favorite subject is science because he enjoys learning about space. Appropriately, he plans to be a NASA Engineer some day and hopes to be part of the efforts to get to Mars.Christopher was presented with a plaque (courtesy of K&S Trophies of Tullahoma) and a set of tickets to an up-coming Nashville Predators game. Congratulations to Christopher Blaylock, the Aaron’s Sales and Lease Student of the Week.

Basketball Season Opens For Red Raiders

high school basketball2Leading Warren County by as many as 14 points in the first half, it appeared that the Red Raiders of Coffee County Central were gonna have an easy win in their first game of the season. It turns out, that statement is only half right. The Raiders got the win, but it was far from easy as a second half Warren County rally came up 2 points short in 62 to 60 win over Warren County in Tullahoma’s Russell Barnett Hall of Fame Tip-off Classic. Coffee County got double digit scoring by 4 upperclassmen led by Wyatt Day who finished with 16 points to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game. Peyton Talley added 12 points, J.P. Duncan notched 11 points and Addison Carter had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Red Raiders.
The girls did not fare as well as Warren County raced out to an 18 point halftime lead in route to a 62 to 33 defeat of the Lady Raiders. Senior Tyger Fenton had 8 points for Coffee County as she earned the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game honors. Cameron Davis notched 7 points and Aerial Williams had 5 points. Download the radio broadcast Coffee County will take on Grundy County on Friday in a doubleheader beginning with a 3 PM tip off for the girls. The boys will take on Grundy at 4:30.

Coffee County High School Senior Hollee Sadler who owns or has a part in every school record in golf at CCCHS signed to play college golf at Tennessee Tech on Thursday morning. Sadler competed in the TSSAA State Tournament all 3 years she played for the Lady Raiders. She finished 3rd as an individual last month in the state tournament and captained her team to a 2nd place finish. Sadler was a 3-time All-district player and was the player of year twice. By the way Sadler only started playing golf 4 years ago.
Tennessee Tech Head Coach Polk Brown is very happy Hollee decided to become a Golden Eagle.

New Football Regions Are Official

CCThe Division I regional football alignments for the 2015 and 2016 seasons were approved by the TSSAA Board of Control on November 13, 2014. With the alignment, Coffee County will play in Region 2-6A with: Blackman, Cookeville, Oakland, Riverdale, Siegel, Smyrna, and Warren Co.
Tullahoma will play in Region 4-4A with: Giles Co., Lawrence Co., Marshall Co., Page, and Spring Hill.
Other area teams of note: Franklin County, Lincoln Co & Shelbyville will play in Region 5-5A with Columbia, Independence, Stewarts Creek and Summit.
Moore County and Huntland will play in Region 4-1A with: Columbia Academy, Cornersville, Fayetteville, Mt. Pleasant, Richland and Summertown
Cannon County and Grundy County will play in Region 4-3A with:
DeKalb Co., Sequatchie Co., Smith Co., Upperman and York Institute.
Cascade will play in Region 4-2A with Community, Eagleville, East Robertson, Forrest, Jackson Co., Watertown and Westmoreland

Update On Motlow Basketball

Motlow sportsThe Motlow Lady Bucks dropped a 97-61 decision to Gadsden St Tuesday in Gadsden, AL. Motlow will host Volunteer St. Saturday at 2pm.

The Motlow Bucks beat Martin Methodist College JV on Tuesday 98-67 in Pulaski. The Bucks, now 5-0, host Volunteer State at 4pm Saturday.

Wednesday afternoon at Coffee County High School Senior Brianna Jones who pitches for the Lady Raiders signed to play college softball. Jones signed with Southern Illinois. Saluki softball coach Kerri Blaylock said of Jones, “She is a great pitcher and a greater competitor. She will make an impact on this program immediately.”
Brianna Jones is a three-time District 8AAA Pitcher of the Year and a three-time All-District honoree. She ranked fifth in the nation with 372 strikeouts in 2014 and was an All-Midstate honoree in 2013 and 2014. In three years of high school, Jones has already broken her school record for career strikeouts with 906. Her career record is 57-19 and has a career ERA of 0.75. In club ball with the Tennessee Fury, Jones’ team won the 14-and-under ASA National Championship and also the 16-and-under ASA Gold National Championship.
