Predators Shut Out in Columbus on Friday

Preds New Logo 1The Predators gave up two early goals to the Blue Jackets and ended up losing a terrible game to the 2nd worst team in the league by a score of 4-0. Gregory Campbell, Ryan Johansen, Boone Jenner, and Scott Hartnell tallied for the Jackets and they were backed up by Sergei Bobrovsky, who was outstanding in net for probably his best performance of the season.
The Predators travel to Minnesota on Saturday night for a 7 PM contest. Thunder Radio will bring you the action on the Fifth Third/Nashville Predators Radio Network.

Burch & Stanley Attorneys at Law Student of the Week 21 November 2015

The Burch & Stanley attorneys at law Student of the week for 21 November 2015 is Abigail Brandon. Abigail is in fifth grade at Hillsboro Elementary School in Hillsboro. She is the daughter of proud parents Jennifer and Reynaldo. She is positive and energetic, always ready to put her best effort forth regardless of the assignment. She sets a positive example for all her classmates. Abigail is also a great citizen and is helpful to both fellow students and teachers. Abigail’s favorite subject is Social Studies because she thinks it’s fun and easy. She also enjoys learning about history. Abigail is an avid reader and is hoping to get the Hunger Games book series for Christmas. She hopes to either become an Artist, because she loves to paint and draw, or Teacher, because she likes helping people, when she gets older. Abigail was presented with a plaque (courtesy of K&S Trophies of Tullahoma) and a set of tickets to an up-coming Nashville Predators game. CHS Red Raiders Run Season Record to 2 and 0 with Win Over Smyrna

The Coffee County Red Raiders hit the road on Thursday for a boys only match-up with the Smyrna Bulldogs at Smyrna High. Coffee County outscored the Bulldogs 20 to 7 in the 2nd quarter to power them to a 50 to 42 victory.
Wyatt Day was the leading scorer for the Raiders as he finished with 13 points. Steven Sullivan and Grant Sadler each chipped in 11 points as both had strong 4th quarters to help seal the win. Sadler’s steal on an outlet pass after Smyrna had cut the lead to 4 points likely saved the game for the Raiders. For his big 4th quarter, Sadler was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game. The win moves Coffee County’s record to 2 and 0 on the season.
The Raiders and Lady Raiders travel to Huntland on Tuesday night for a return matchup with the Hornets. The girls’ game tips off at 6. Thunder Radio’s coverage will kick off at 5:50 with the Powers Storage/Char-El Apartments Pregame Show

Westwood Basketball Sweeps Moore County on Thursday Night

The Lady Rockets of Westwood used a 15 point 4th quarter to hold off a scrappy Moore County team on Thursday night by a final score of 44 to 21. Westwood held the Lady Raiders to 4 points in the second half before a packed house at the Joel Vinson Gym. Morgan Jones led the Lady Rockets in scoring with 14 points, Ashley Starks added 11 points and Beatris Barrera finished with 7. The win improves Westwood to 11 and 2 on the year.

The Rockets used a 2nd quarter rally to get a come from behind 39 to 33 win over the Blue Raiders in the boys’ game. Trailing 11 to 2 in the first quarter, Westwood outscored Moore County 17 to 4 the remainder of the 1st half to take a 19 to 15 advantage into the intermission and a lead they would not surrender. Roderic Brinkley led Westwood in scoring with 13 points, Shawn Anderson added 11 points and Nick White scored 10 points for the Rockets who are now 7 and 6 on the season. Westwood travels to Shelbyville on Monday to take on Liberty in an important conference matchup that starts at 6 PM.

The Lady Raiders of Coffee County Middle School faced their toughest matchup of the young season on Thursday night taking a 37 to 30 victory over West Tullahoma on the Lady Bobcats home floor. Leading by 1 at the half, Coffee County needed a 3 pointer at the close of the 3rd quarter to take a 4 point lead into the final period. The Lady Raiders were led in scoring by Julia Duncan who had 25 points. Bella Vinson and Keri Munn each added 4 points for the Lady Raiders as they improved to 6 and 0 on the season.

The Red Raiders fell in the boys game 48 to 38 despite a 20 point offensive outburst in the 4th quarter. Coffee County had whittled a 12 point lead down to 6 points in the 4th quarter, but West managed to hit their free throws down the stretch to claim the win.  Blanton Brown and Brandon Jernigan each finished with 11 points leading Coffee County in scoring. The loss evens Coffee County’s record at 3 and 3. Coffee Middle will take off next week before returning to action on Thursday, December 3rd at home as they host Harris

The Westwood Lady Rockets 6th Grade basketball team got their 2nd victory in as many nights on Wednesday as they defeated the 6th grade team from Forrest at the Joel Vinson Gym. The Lady Rockets jumped out to an early 14 to 6 lead on Forrest behind a 6 point 1st quarter outburst from Kasen Holt. After the 6 point 1st quarter, Westwood held Forrest to 2 points the rest of the game in a 34 to 8 win. The 6th grade Rockets had the night off. Holt finished the night with 12 points. Gracie Morris added 10 points and Chloe Martin added 6 points.  The Westwood 6th graders have a break before they travel to East Tullahoma on Tuesday, December 1st for a doubleheader beginning at 6 PM.

Weekend Sports Schedule on Thunder Radio

sports action 2Here is an update on a jam-packed weekend of LIVE sports here on Thunder Radio. Thursday at 10 AM, Josh Peterson will host “The Sports Page” as he takes a look at sports from professionals to preps.  He will let the listening audience sound off as he takes your calls and shares his own opinion on the world of sports. This evening, the Coffee County Red Raiders travel to Smyrna to take on the Bulldogs in high school basketball action. This will ONLY be a boys game and it will tip off at 6:00 PM.  We begin our coverage with the Powers Storage/Char El Apartments Pregame Show at 5:50. Immediately following that game, we will join the Tennessee Titans broadcast in progress as the Titans travel to Jacksonville for the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football Game of the Week.
On Friday, it is the final installment of Friday Night Thunder for the 2015 season as the pregame show will run from 6 to 6:30 PM here on Thunder Radio as part of the Friday Night Thunder Network.   At 6:30, Thunder Radio will join the Fifth Third Bank/Nashville Predators Radio Network as the Predators take on the Columbus Blue Jackets LIVE from Columbus.  Following the Predators, the Friday Night Thunder crew will host their scoreboard show as they bring you scores, highlights and interviews from the 3rd round of the Tennessee high school football playoffs. At 11 PM, the syndicated “Coach to Coach” show will highlight the Tennessee Vols win over North Texas and give you a preview for Saturday’s football game with Missouri.
On Saturday, a full day of sports coverage goes from before sunrise to well after sunset as we begin the day with “Set the Hook” featuring fishing guide and former professional wrestler Pat Rose. Pat will have guests and features about fishing in and around the lakes of the Tennessee Valley. At 10 AM, the Coffee Coaches Show hits the airwaves as we broadcast LIVE from Al White Ford/Lincoln in Manchester. The hour long show will get you caught up on local teams and this Saturday we will talk to Robert Harper of the CHS Cross Country team about their recent season and upcoming fund raising event for one of their athletes. We will also talk to Coffee County Middle School boys’ basketball coach Jonathan Oliver and Coffee County Middle School cheer leading coach Tami Weaver. We also hope to talk to some of their athletes and have a lot of fun doing it.  If you missed Pat Rose at 5 AM, he will be back on the air at 5 PM and the Nashville Predators close out your Saturday with a 7 PM face-off in Minnesota in a game you can hear exclusively on Thunder Radio.

Coffee County CHS Opens Basketball Season with a Split

The Micah Williams Era as head basketball coach of the Coffee County Red Raiders began successfully on Tuesday night with a 61 to 53 win over Huntland at the Joe Frank Patch Gym.  The Red Raiders trailed for a brief 15 second window early in the 1st quarter as they played mistake free basketball on the night.  The Raiders committed just 10 turnovers on the night while playing aggressively on defense and offense.  Coffee County went to the free throw line 32 times converting 21 of those opportunities.  Garrett Eldridge led the Raiders in scoring with 20 points to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center player of the game honors.  Junior transfer LeAundre Graham added 12 points, all of them coming in the 2nd half.

The Lady Raiders were not as fortunate as turnovers and missed foul shots spoiled Coffee County’s chances for the upset of the talented Lady Hornets.  Coffee County outscored Huntland in the 3rd and 4th quarters but a 19 to 2 second quarter for the visitors dropped Coffee County 57 to 43.  Alliyah Williams was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the game as she led Coffee County in scoring with 10 points.  Holli Smithson added 8 points despite missing most of the 2nd half due to foul trouble.  Five freshman played significant minutes for Coffee County highlighted by Abby Morgan who had 5 points for the Lady Raiders.

The Raiders and Lady Raiders will travel to Huntland on Tuesday for the rematch.  The Red Raiders will be in action next on Thursday night as they travel to Smyrna for a boys only game with the Bulldogs.  That game will begin at 6 PM and Thunder Radio will be on hand to bring you the broadcast beginning with the Powers Storage/Char El Apartments Pregame Show at 5:50.

Westwood 6th Grade Basketball Teams Drop Harris on Tuesday Night

Joel Vinson GymTrailing by 4 points after the 1st quarter, the 6th grade Westwood Lady Rockets basketball team roared back to claim a 14 to 7 win over Harris on Tuesday night at the Joel Vinson Gym. Westwood used an 8 point outburst in the 4th quarter to seal the win and earn the Lady Rockets their 3rd straight victory. Westwood was led in scoring by Haidyn Campbell who had 7 points. Alex Nelson added 6 points for the Lady Rockets.

Eight different Rocket players scored in the boys’ game as Westwood demolished the Eagles 37 to 6. Westwood held Harris scoreless in the 4th quarter as the Rockets earned a season sweep over the Eagles. Trenton Thompson led Westwood in scoring with 7 points while Austin Simpkins and John Dobson each added 6 points.

The Westwood 6th graders have a break before they travel to East Tullahoma on Tuesday, December 1st for a doubleheader beginning at 6 PM.
