CCMS Baseball Grabs Road Win at Warren County

The Coffee County Middle School baseball team returned to conference action on Monday in McMinnville taking on Warren County. The Red Raiders banged out 7 hits to grab an 8 to 4 win.  

Brendon Sheppard and Blayne Myers smacked home runs in the win.  Cole Pippenger had a double and single to lead the hitting attack. Pippenger also got the win on the hill as he went 4⅔ innings striking out 7 for his 2nd victory of the season.  Jayden Fellers came on in relief to get the save. 

The Red Raiders return to action on Tuesday as they welcome Warren County to CCMS.  First pitch is set for 5 PM.   

CCMS Soccer Rolls Past North Franklin

The Coffee County Middle School soccer team played host to North Franklin on Monday at CCMS.  In a game originally scheduled for Tuesday, the Red Raiders moved the game date to avoid potential bad weather on Tuesday.  The Red Raiders got another shutout with an 8 to 0 win. 

The Raiders built a 4 nil lead in the first half as Julius Norris and Javier Rodriquez each had a pair of goals.  In the second half, Norris added a goal to get the hat trick while Rodriguez netted a pair of goals and Samuel Medina added a goal to close out the scoring.

 “The Red Raiders played great team ball with precision passing” said head coach Jamie Norris.  “We were able to correct some issues we had in the 1st game against Thurman Francis” added Norris.

The Red Raiders will return to the pitch on Thursday as they travel to McMinnville to take on Warren County.  Opening kick is set for 5:00 PM.  

Westwood Softball Falls in Season Opener

The Westwood softball team opened the season on Monday in Woodbury taking on Cannon County.  The Lady Rockets got a run in the top of the 1st inning and carried that lead into the 4th before Cannon County erupted for 7 runs.  Cannon County dropped the Lady Rockets by a final score of 8 to 4. 

Paisley Campbell and Lilee Scott each had a single and a double to lead the hitting attack.  Jules Ferrell had a 2 RBI single as the Lady Rockets finished the game with 8 hits.  Lily Norman took the loss in the circle as she struck out 5 allowing only 4 earned runs.

Westwood will return to action on Tuesday when they play host to Cascade at Fred Deadman Park.  Thunder Radio will be on hand to bring you all the action as part of the People’s Bank and Trust Hometown Sports Series.  First pitch is set for 5 PM; our live coverage will begin at 4:50 PM.   

CCMS Softball Rallies for Extra Inning Win on Monday

The Coffee County Middle School softball team hit the road on Monday as they traveled to Warren County.  The Lady Raiders rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning to force extra innings. Coffee County won it in 7 innings 6 to 5.  

Trailing 5 to 2 entering their last at bat in the 5th inning, the Lady Raiders pushed across the tying run on a double steal with 2 outs.  Madison Pruitt scored the eventual winning run in the top of the 7th after getting on board with a walk. 

Willow Carden, Channah Gannon and Madi Barnes all had a pair of singles for Coffee County.  Katelyn Anderson got the win in the circle as she struck out 10. 

The Lady Raiders return to action on Tuesday as they welcome Warren County to CCMS.  First pitch is set for 5 PM.   

Westwood Baseball Drops Home Opener to Moore County

The Westwood baseball team returned to action on Monday as they hosted their first home game of the season.  Taking on conference foe Moore County, the Rockets saw the visiting Blue Raiders score 7 runs in their final 2 at-bats to drop Westwood 9 to 5.

The Rockets did not go down without a fight as they scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning.  Westwood used 5 walks and a hit batter to plate 3 runs in the 7th with nobody out.  A pop-up and 2 strikeouts ended the rally.  The Rockets were held to 1 hit as Vaughn Parker had a single for Westwood. 

Westwood will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Lynchburg for the second of the conference series with Moore County.  First pitch is set 5:30 at Moore County High School.  

Coffee County CHS Soccer Falls in Season Opener

The Coffee County CHS soccer team opened the regular season on Monday as they hosted Warren County.  The Red Raiders fell behind early and could never catch up to the visiting Pioneers 8 to 1.

Warren County tallied 3 goals in the first 10 minutes and led 5 to 1 at the midway point of the 1st half.  The Red Raiders settled down and held Warren County scoreless until intermission.  In the 2nd half, the Pioneers stretched their lead to 7 to 0 before Keiton Sherrill notched the Raiders lone goal. 

The Red Raiders will be back in action on Tuesday as they welcome Ooltewah to the Raider Soccer Field.  Opening kick is set for 6 PM.

CHS Baseball Closes Out Preseason with Saturday Loss to Lebanon

In their final preseason scrimmage game of the spring, the Coffee County CHS baseball team welcomed Lebanon to Powers Field on Saturday.  The Red Raiders banged out 12 hits but the defense surrendered 3 unearned runs as they dropped the 12 to 6 decision to the Blue Devils. 

Hayden Skipper was the leading hitter for the Red Raiders as he had a single, a double and a home run with 2 runs scored and an RBI.  Zack Milan, Wyatt Nugent, Lane Spry, and Brandon Jernigan all had doubles for Coffee County. 

The Red Raiders open the season on Monday in a road game at Columbia.  Coffee County opens the season in the district contest with a 1st pitch set for 4 PM.  Thunder Radio will be on hand to bring you the broadcast.  Our pregame show will begin at 3:50 live from Columbia. 

CCMS Softball Goes 3 and 1 in Saturday Tournament in Shelbyville

The Coffee County Middle School softball team traveled to Shelbyville to compete in the Shelbyville Tournament on Saturday.   The Lady Raiders went 3 and 1 on the day outscoring their opponents 38 to 7. 

The Lady Raiders opened the day with an 18 to 0 win over Liberty.  The Lady Raiders scored 11 runs in the 1st inning as they romped to the win.  Haleigh Skipper went 3 innings in the circle to get the win surrendering only 2 hits.  At the plate, Skipper had 2 singles, scored twice and drove in 2 runs.  Willow Carden finished with a single and 3 RBI.  Channah Gannon had a double, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. 

In the 2nd game of the day, the Lady Raiders once again off to a red hot start in a 16 to 0 win over Community.   Savannah Cooper was the winning pitcher as she pitched 3 innings allowing only 2 hits while striking out 5.  At the plate, Cooper had 2 singles and 3 RBI.    Kellie Tucker, Willow Carden and Channah Gannon all scored 3 runs. 

Against Eagleville, Coffee Middle was held to 1 hit as they dropped a 4 to 0 decision.  Scoreless going to the bottom of the 5th inning, Eagleville rallied for 4 runs to grab the win.  Katelyn Anderson got the lone hit for the Lady Raiders.  Anderson took the loss in the circle as she surrendering 3 earned runs while striking out 6. 

The Lady Raiders closed out the day with a 4 to 3 win over Rocky Fork Middle out of Smyrna.  Madison Pruitt had a double and a single with 1 RBI to lead the hit attack.  Savannah Cooper had a single and an RBI.  Channah Gannon got the win in the circle as she struck out 7. 

The Lady Raiders return to action on Monday as they travel to McMinnville.  Coffee Middle returns to conference action against Warren County.  First pitch is set for 5 PM.   

Coffee County Softball Closes out Preseason Schedule With Saturday Scrimmages

The Coffee County CHS softball team traveled to Hendersonville on Saturday for a preseason playday.  Mixing and matching lineups in their final scrimmage action of the year, the Lady Raiders went 1 and 2 with a tie on the day. 

The Lady Raiders opened the day strong as they scored 4 runs in the 1st inning against Springfield.  The Lady Jackets rallied to even the score as the game ended in a 6 to 6 tie.  Coffee County banged out 10 hits but 5 Lady Raider errors surrendered 3 unearned runs.  Keri Munn had a single and a double while Sarah West had 2 hits and 2 RBI.   

Playing a JV lineup against Clarksville, the Lady Raiders were blanked 20 to 0 in the 2nd game of the day.  The Lady Wildcats varsity squad posted 13 runs in a brutal 1st inning to put the game out of reach.  The Lady Raiders were held to 2 hits as Olivia Evans had a double and Emily Schuster hit a single.  Schuster took the loss in the circle as the Lady Raiders committed 8 errors allowed 12 unearned runs. 

In the 3rd game of the day, Coffee County’s varsity squad came up short in a 4 to 3 loss to Hendersonville.  The Lady Raiders had the tying run on 3rd base and the winning run on 2nd base when time expired. 

The Lady Raiders closed out the day with a 6 to 2 win over Rossview.  Haidyn Campbell got the win in the circle as she did not give up an earned run in a great pitching performance.  Chloe Gannon and Cheyenne Vickers each had a double and Alivia Reel had a pair of singles. 

The Lady Raiders open the regular season on Monday as they play host to Warren County at Terry Floyd Field.  First pitch is set for 7 PM.
