4/15/12 — Dianne Lynn Osborn

Dianne Lynn Osborn, age 62 of Estill Springs, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at her home.

She was born May 31, 1949 in Streator, Illinois; the daughter of the late James Hezekiah and Pauline (Alabaugh) Cox.

She worked at the Skills Development Service in Tullahoma.

Surviving are daughters, Tammy (Polo Martinez) Adams of Estill Springs, TN and Amy Jarquin of Estill Springs, TN, brothers, Randy (Elise) Cox of Tullahoma, TN and Gilbert Cox of Tullahoma, TN, sister, Ginger (Harv) Middleton of Streator, IL; fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services, officiated by Pastor Tom Murdock, will be 2:00 PM Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the First Christian Church, 120 W. Grundy Street, Tullahoma.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Sunday at the Church.

4/11/12 — Johnnie Litchford Cates

Mrs. Johnnie Litchford Cates, age 97, of Tullahoma, passed away Tuesday at Life Care Center in Tullahoma.

She is the daughter of the late Dock and Lena Sanders.

She was a homemaker and attended Raysville Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Litchford and Willie B. Cates, a sister, Pauline Burton and a brother, Marion Sanders.

She is survived by 2 sons, Bobby Litchford of Tullahoma, Norman Litchford of Tullahoma, 2 daughters, Joyce Smith of Franklin Co., Diane Patterson of Lynchburg, a sister, Lois Scroggins of Lynchburg, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00AM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Moore Co. with Bro. Jack Hice officiating.

4/10/12 — Leslie Ewing Hartley

Leslie Ewing Hartley, age 87 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away on Sunday,
April 8, 2012, at the Lynchburg Care Center. 

He was born November 11, 1924 in Thompsons Station, Tennessee; the son of the late Lesley Ewing and Frances Rebecca (Vaughn) Hartley. 

He worked as a farmer.  Mr. Hartley was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Mae (Ferrell) Hartley, daughter, Rebecca Faye Hartley,  son, Robert Phillip Hartley, sisters, Mary Beard, Classie Lee Margrum, Dovie  Lynch and an infant sister. 

Surviving are son, Howard (Patsy) Hartley of Fairview, TN, daughters, Virginia (Harry) Burton of Mulberry, TN and Daisy (Ernest) Glascoe of Tullahoma, TN, brothers, Johnny (Frances) Hartley of Franklin, TN and Jimmy Hartley of Woodbury, TN, sisters, Eva (Ronnie) Leathers of Rockvale, TN, Janie (Herbert) Manier of Columbia, TN, Lena (Joe) Jakes of Murfreesboro, TN and Lucy Shedd of Nashville, TN; as well as seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. 

A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Jennings Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Bro. Ronnie Leathers officiating.

Interment will be in Hurricane Cemetery, Tullahoma, TN. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on  Monday, April 9, 2012, at Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 181 Majors Blvd., Lynchburg.

4/11/12 — Maxine “Max” Shrum Manhardt

Memorial services for Mrs. Maxine “Max” Shrum Manhardt, age 71, of Manchester, will be Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 1 PM at the CoffeeCounty Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Daniel officiating. 

Visitation with the family will be from11:00 AM until service time at the Coffee CountyFuneral Chapel. 

Mrs. Manhardt   passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

 

She was born July 6, 1940 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late G. Dixon and Erma Shrum. 

She attended Ellis School inP ittsburg, PAa nd the University of Miami, Miami, FL.  She retired after having worked many years as the administrator at Martin County Utilities in Stuart,FL.  In 2006, she and her husband, Kenneth moved from the Port St.Lucie, Florida area to  Manchester,Tennessee.  She loved to collect owls and enjoyed cooking and taking care of her husband.

 In addition to her husband Kenneth Manhardt of Manchester, she is survived by one brother, Dixon Shrum of Pittsburg, PA; a special niece, Barbara Slacks of Murfreesboro, TN; a very very special friend, Patsey Adams of Port St. Lucie, FL. and several nieces and nephews.

 In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the American Cancer Society.

4/11/12 — Beulah Jean Hill Crownover

Beulah Jean Hill Crownover, age 81 of Decherd, passed away Monday April 9, 2012 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma. 

A native of Franklin County, she was a very talented artist and a noted author.  She wrote and published three books, Beuler, Hill Town and Coker Street, and Remembering Mamma, which were about her life in Franklin County. 

She was also a faithful member of the Elk River Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harold B. Crownover, Sr., her mother, Bertha Mooney Hill and her father, James B. Hill. 

She is survived by her daughter, Gail (Leslie) Moore of Rock Island; son, Benny Crownover of Winchester, grandchildren, Mark Moore, Paul Moore, Jonathan Moore, Abigail Wood, Greg Crownover, and Shelley Housley; 9 great-grandchildren;  sisters, Louise Hooper of Akron, OH. and Nell Henley of Estill Springs; brothers, John W. (Ina) Hill of River Falls, WI, and Donald (Elaine) Hill of Birmingham, AL; a special niece and caregiver, Brenda Farris; numerous other nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday April 11, 2012 with Don Gregory, Carl Roberts and Charlie Nunley officiating.

Interment will follow at Watson-North Memorial Park. 

Pallbearers will be Paul Moore, Jonathan Moore, Greg Crownover, Tyler Crownover, Eric Wood and Lee Housley. 

Visitation will be Tuesday April 10, 2012 from 5-8 p.m.

4/10/12 — Coraland G. Donner

Coraland G. Donner, age 67 of Beech Grove, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Donner of Beech Grove, TN; son, David Jones (Renee) of Hillsboro, TN; three brothers, James Green of Beech Grove,   Buck Green of Normandy  and Satch Green of the Busy Corner Community; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 11:00 A.M.  until 1:00 P.M. at Central Funeral Home in Manchester.

The Funeral Service will follow at 1: 00 P.M. on Tuesday from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Brother Tom Brantley officiating.

Burial will follow at the Green Cemetery in Beech Grove, TN.

4/11/12 — Samuel Dale “Sam” Rigney

Samuel Dale “Sam” Rigney, age 63 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012.

Sam was a Maintenance Engineer with Nissan, Inc. and formerly with Batesville Casket Company.

He was born on December 28, 1948 in Manchester, TN to his parents, the late Kaiser William Rigney and Anna Mae Byrum Rigney. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Stitt Rigney who passed away in 2010.

He is survived by his son, Jackson Ryan Rigney and his wife Candice D. of Manchester, TN; daughter, Tina Marie Smith and her husband Greg of Des Arc, Arkansas; grandchildren, Rachel Rigney, Jessica Hyde and Krystal Hyde and Alyssa Rigney; one great-granddaughter, Alycia Wadkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, April 10, 2012 from 6:00 P.M.  until  9:00 P.M. at Central Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon, April 11, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home .

Entombment will follow at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

4/8/12 — John “Tom” Thomas Elser Sr.

John “Tom” Thomas Elser Sr., 66, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Friday, April 6, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Elser was born in Smyrna, GA to the late John Wilford and Elizabeth Elser.

Mr. Elser was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma.

He worked as a carpenter and in maintenance at Franklin County Consolidated Housing Authority and was an active member and coach in the Tullahoma Girls Softball league for many years.

In addition to his parents Mr. Elser was preceded in death by one sister, Connie DuBose and one granddaughter, Shelby Davison.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Elser; two daughters, Sherrie Honea and husband Shane, Mindy Popovich and husband John; two sons, Jason Elser and wife Brandy, John Elser Jr. and wife Jonie all of Tullahoma; one sister, Cheryl; four brothers, Jim Elser and wife Anne of Marietta, GA, Wayne Walker and wife Sherry of Villa Rica, GA, Randy Elser and wife Dawn of Marietta, GA, and Chris Elser of Temple, GA; ten grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, and Taylor Honea, Brittany, Anna, and Hailey Elser, Erin and Tristan Davison, Robbie Popovich, and John Thomas Elser III; and mother-in-law, Jean Seagraves.

Visitation will be held at Kilgore Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7th, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm.

Funeral Services are Sunday, April 8th, 2012 at 5:00pm, in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Tim McGehee officiating.

Burial will be at Fredonia Cemetery.

4/7/12 — Virginia “Ginny” Kidd Phillips

Virginia “Ginny” Kidd Phillips, age 93, of Manchester, Tennessee died April 5, 2012 at the Manchester Health Care Center.

She was born December 31, 1918 to the late Herbert F. Kidd and Irene Conner Kidd in Dyer, Alberta, Canada.

She was baptised into the Church of Christ June 18, 1939. She was a Secretary for thirty years and retired from ARO, Inc. at Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray C. Phillips in 1992; brother, Joseph KIdd; and son-in-law, Roy Lee Bush; sister, June Messer; and brother, Herbert Kidd.

She is survived by daughter, Carole Phillips Bush of Manchester; grandchildren, Scot and Sherri Bush of Lewisburg,  Sheena and Pete Rob of Manchester; great-grandsons Eric Walker (Mary Margaret), Brandon Bush and Connor Bush of Lewisburg; Adam Rob  and Alan Rob of Manchester; great-great-granddaughter, Emma Grace; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday afternoon, April 7, 2012 from 2:00  until  3:00 P.M. at Central Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will follow on Saturday at 3:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Brother Robert Oldham officiating.

Burial will be at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
