5/30/12 — Carl Wesley Gross

Mr. Carl Wesley Gross age 84 of Monteagle went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Winchester, Tennessee.

Mr. Gross was a member of Morton Memorial United Methodist Church in Monteagle. He was also a Mason, and a member of the Lions Club.

Mr. Gross was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Bernice Long Gross, his parents Claude and Thersa Graham Gross; brother James Gross; sisters Della Byers, and Lena Morgan. Survivors include his daughters, and their husbands Becky and Steve Rose of Monteagle, Lesia and Keith Pirtle of Murfreesboro; sister Ms. Bettie McKnight of Springfield, TN; grandchildren Brian (Kristy) Rose, Brittany (T.R.) Rose-Ball, Keri (J.D.) Pirtle-Lozano, and Todd Pirtle; great-grandchildren Christian Rose, and Kaylan Rose; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 30th at Morton Memorial United Methodist Church in Monteagle. Burial will follow in the Monteagle Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Sequachtie Valley Honor Gaurd.

The Family will receive friends from 5:00-9:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with a Masonic Service starting at 8:00 P.M.

5/28/12 — Marie Simon Gilmer

Marie  Simon Gilmer, age 79 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on May 26, 2012 at the Manchester Health Care Center.

She was a Furniture Upholsterer and a former seamstress with PCA Apparel Industries, Inc. in Manchester.

She was born in Stephenville, Newfoundland to her parents, the late Harold Simon and Libby Gabriel Simon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Tony Gilmer who passed away in 2011.

Marie enjoyed her upholstery business, raising flowers and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Pauline (Peter) Doyle of Nova Scotia; two step-sons, Jimmy Gilmer of Brandon, Mississippi and Dr. Ronald Gilmer of Franklin, TN; eight grandchildren, Keith, Tammie, Laura, Derrick, Angela Michelle, Dianne, Emily and Dennis; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be on Monday, May 28, 2012 from 12:00 (Noon)  until 2 :00 P.M. at Central Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will follow on Monday at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home.

Burial will be at the Prairie Plains Methodist Cemetery.

5/27/12 — Yvonne Gipson Solomon

YVONNE GIPSON SOLOMON, age 74, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester.

She was born in Franklin County, Tenn., on March 30, 1938 to the late Lucille Hill Gipson-Brown and the late Hugh Gipson.

She was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church in Winchester.  Mrs. Solomon was a homemaker.  She loved with her whole heart and would always have good things to say about everyone.  Our Lord Jesus will be welcoming her with open arms.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Solomon of Winchester, son, Jeff (Kim) Solomon of Pennsylvania, daughter, Shannon Solomon (Tom Landwehr) of Texas. Four grandchildren; Tracy (Santiago) Marente, Katrina Solomon, Kyle Landrum all of Pennsylvania and Lindsay Landrum of Murfreesboro.  Five great-grandchildren; Cai, Kylie, Diego, Joaquin an d Grace Marente.  Brother- in-laws, Gene Minor and James S. Amacher, sister-in-laws Grace Marshall and Christine Hutto all of Winchester and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-9:00 P.M. Saturday evening in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 27, 2012 with Bro. Ray Gardner officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester.

5/21/12 — Charles Edward Humphres, Jr.

Mr. Charles Edward Humphres, Jr., 56, of Beech Grove passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at his residence. 

No services are planned.

Mr. Humphres was born in E. St. Louis, IL, the son of Charles Edward Humphres and the late Esther Lambert Humphres.  He was a salesman for Kirby Vaccuum.

He is survived by his father; his wife, Allison Cason Humphres; daughter, Norma Jean Humphres; brothers, Jimmy Doyle and Jerry Butler; sisters, Linda Toole, Margie Medina, Barbara Mayes and Ruth Endsley; and two grandchildren.

5/29/12 — Roy G. Cox, Sr.

Graveside services for Mr. Roy G. Cox, Sr., age 97 of Manchester will be conducted Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Forest Mill Cemetery with Reverend Bob Case officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel.

A Masonic service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home.

Mr. Cox passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 in Manchester.

He was born March 22, 1915 in Manchester, the son of the late Sam A. Cox and Della Layne Cox.

In earlier years, while residing in Michigan, he enjoyed bowling and golf. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Lodge #152 in Redford, Michigan where he remained a member for over 50 years and was also a Shriner. After returning to Manchester, Mr. Cox attended Forest Mill United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marion Hinderliter Cox; three brothers; Bernice Cox, Almon Cox and Glenn Cox and four sisters; Arlie Shields, Samantha Jean Wilson, Nell Bennett and Velma Jordan.

Survivors include a son, Roy G. Cox, Jr. and wife, Jennie of Manchester; and a daughter, Sharron Gregory and husband, Wayne of Detroit, Michigan; seven grandchildren; Matthew Gregory; Larry Gregory and wife, Michelle; David Gregory and wife, Carrie; Audra Gregory; Roy Cox, III and wife, Gloria; Randall Cox and wife, Darla; and Tracy Cox; sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the Forest Mill Cemetery Fund.

5/26/12 — Edna P. Brazier

Mrs. Edna P. Brazier, age 74, of Normandy, passed away Wednesday at Manchester Healthcare Center.

A native of Winchester, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Bertha May McKinney Thompson.

She was retired from Star Union and Tennessee Apparel and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother; Rufus Thompson, and one sister; Syble Trelinski.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Charles Brazier, one son; David (Melissa) Brazier of Tullahoma, two daughters; Debbie Brazier of Tullahoma, and Sandra Brazier (Stephen) Spray of Fayetteville, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, three brothers; Uel Thompson of Indiana, Orvel Thompson of Missouri, and William Thompson of Illinois, and two sister; Eva Sherrill of Tullahoma, and Ethel Walker of Shelbyville, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 PM in the chapel of Tullahoma Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Greg Riner, Gabe Croft, Billy Joe Weitz, R.T. Weitz, Ricky Knight, Danny Knight, Roy Crouch, and Tim Campbell.

The family would like to thank Rita, Patsy, and Danielle at AseraCare Hospice, Dr. Stephen Bills, and Dr. Mainudoin Ahmed and his staff for the kindness and care they provided to Mrs. Brazier.

5/24/12 — Helen Thompson

Graveside services for Mrs. Helen Thompson, age 64, of Manchester, will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Thompson passed away on Friday, May 18 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Morgan Co., TN, the daughter of the late Herbert Lee and Minnie Newport Phipps.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Prentice Thompson of Manchester; one son, Jammy (Elisha) Thompson; one daughter, Sherry Farris; and ten grandchildren, Brandon Thompson, Brittany Thompson, Bradley Thompson, Bailey Thompson, Brianna Prosser, Bianca Burt, Bridget Thompson, Bethany Arp, Bethany Farris, and Breanna Farris.

5/24/12 — Jimmy Lee Prince

JIMMY LEE PRINCE, age 53, of Tullahoma, departed this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma. 

Mr. Prince was of the Nazarene faith.  He was disabled.  Mr. Prince’s favorite hobby was model cars.  He was known by many as a “shade tree mechanic”.  Most of all Mr. Prince will be missed by his nieces and nephews because he was an “awesome uncle”. 

Mr. Prince is survived by his father, Rev. James R. Smith ofTullahoma, sisters; Linda (Kenneth) Scott of Estill Springs, Tenn., Barbara (Billy) Belcher, brothers; James (Lisa) Smith all of Chattanooga, Nathan (LaDonna) Smith of Tullahoma, a special friend, Pat Collier of Winchester,  eight nieces, two nephews, four great-nephews and two great-nieces.

Visitation for Mr. Prince will be from 5:00-9:00 P.M. Wednesday eveing May 23, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services. 

Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday with Bro. Albert Waters officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma, Tenn.

5/25/12 — Donald Ray Bryant

Donald Ray Bryant, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 50.

Mr. Bryant was born in Chicago Illinois and is a United States Army Veteran.

 He resided in Tullahoma and was a Truck Driver for Frito Lay.

He is survived by his parents, Robert D. and Joann Bryant of Tullahoma; one daughter, Amber Bryant of Nashville; one son, Josh Bryant of Tullahoma; two brothers, Wayne Bryant and his wife Rhonda of Tullahoma and Richard Bryant and his wife Debbie of Tullahoma; former wife and companion, Sonya Bryant of Tullahoma; and one niece, Veronica Bryant of Tullahoma.

Visitation for Mr. Bryant will be held on Thursday, May 24th, 2012 from 5:00-9:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 25th, 2012 at 10:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

5/25/12 — Tony Jackson

Tony Jackson  of Tullahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN at the age of 52.

Mr. Jackson was born in Manchester to the late Lawrence and Betty Jackson.

He was a member of Highland Baptist Church and worked as a boilermaker for Sverdrup where he was formerly a member of the Boilermakers Union.

Mr. Jackson is survived one son, Dalton Jackson of Tullahoma; two brothers, Jack Jackson and wife Rita of Smyrna, and Eddie Jackson of Eagleville; two nieces, Elizabeth, and Amy; and one nephew Josh.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 25th from Noon to 2:00pm with funeral services immediately following at 2:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shane Hines officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
