6/22/12 — Donald Wayne Ashby

Donald Wayne Ashby, age 55 of Winchester, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at his home.

He was born August 27, 1956 in Bourne, Massachusetts, he was the son of Robert Ashby and Retha Durm Ashby.

He was employed by Tepro in Winchester. He was an avid fisherman all of his life. Don was also a great cook and loved to spoil and care for his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Chad Ashby of Shelbyville, TN, brother, Kent (Karon) Smith, sisters, Pam (Jimmy) Limbaugh, Tammy (Randy) Kelly, Melanie (Ricky) Bradford and Angie Jenkins; grandchildren, Evan, Chase and Melissa Ashby as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. Charles Houston officiating.

Interment will be in Beech Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

6/23/12 —- Sheila Trent

Mrs. Sheila Trent, age 62, of Manchester, passed away Tuesday at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

She is a Tullahoma native and is the daughter of the late Charles and Georgia Mae Panter Loyd.

Mrs. Trent was a Member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and worked at Arnold Air Force Base.

The Family request that donations be made to the Coffee County Humane Society, P.O. Box 252, Manchester, TN 37349.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Trent of Manchester, son, Jason Trent of Franklin, TN, 2 daughters, Jennifer Hicks of Suwannee, GA, Jessica Daley of Boise, ID and 11 grandchildren

Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00AM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Kesey and Ronald Polce officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Franklin Co.

6/23/12 — Lucille Dickerson Hurst

Lucille Dickerson Hurst age 92, of Winchester, passed away, June 20, 2012 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center.

Ms. Hurst loved spending time with her bright spots Chance and Shelby.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dickerson and daughter, Patsy Adams.

Ms. Hurst is survived by her grandson, Gregg (Karen) Adams of Tullahoma; son-in-law, Horace Adams of Decherd; great children, Chance and Shelby Adams; sister, Dorothy Simmons of Shelbyville.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11:00am from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Sanders officiating.

Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens with friends and family serving as her pallbearers.

Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2012 from 5-9pm at Watson-North Funeral Home.

6/21/12 — Felix Ophelia Guntherberg

Felix Ophelia Guntherberg, age 89 of Elora, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at her home.

She was born June 12, 1923 in Elora; the daughter of the late Alfred Luther and Tama (Ryan) Griffith.

Mrs. Guntherberg was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Joseph Guntherberg.

Surviving are sons, Joseph Guntherberg, II of West Point, GA, Stephen (Sharon) Guntherberg of Elora, TN, John Kevin Guntherberg of Memphis, TN, Felix Ryan Guntherberg of Elora, TN and Brian David Guntherberg of Elora, TN, daughters, Rachel Griffith (Dr. Ricky) McCauley of Fayetteville, TN and Rebecca Coleen (Ronnie) Wheeler of Tunnel Hill, GA; as well as nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday in the Elora Cemetery with Bro. Travis Creasey officiating.

6/23/12 — Conley “Al” Newton

 
Conley “Al” Newton, 62, died June 20, 2012 at his home after a battle with cancer.

He was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1950. He graduated from Augusta Military Academy, attended Charles County Community College in Maryland and Germana Community College in Virginia. He was owner and operator of Newton’s Painting in Tullahoma for over 23 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hilbert A. Newton in 2011 and grandson, Kevin Wade, in 1990.

Conley is survived by his mother, Iris H. Newton, Fredericksburg, Virginia, his daughter, Shelley Bryan, husband Richard, two grandchildren, Matthew Newton and Luke Bryan of Williston, Florida. He is also survived by daughter, Laurie Swick, her husband, Jacob Benjamin Swick II, two grandchildren, Isabel and John Newton of Tullahoma. Conley has one son Joseph Conley Newton, also of Tullahoma. Conley’s brother, Tyler P. Newton, Sr. and his sister, Vena N. Sale live in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Al was successful in his recovery of sobriety for 27 years. He was instrumental in starting the Serenity House in Tullahoma. He was such a positive influence on so many in the recovery. He was a member Coffee Airfoilers Model R/C Club. He enjoyed building 1/3 scale World War II model air planes. He has a plane on display in Hands-On Science Center in Tullahoma and several planes in Guntersville Museum in Alabama. He was a WONDERFUL son, father, grandfather and brother. He has a lot of friends and is respected by many. He will be missed dearly.

A memorial will be held at Kilgore Funeral Home Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 2:00-4:00pm.

6/23/12 — Jesse W. Taylor

Jesse Willis Taylor  of Elyria, Ohio, native of Winchester, TN  passed June 13, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Lorain, Ohio following a lengthy illness. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Taylor and grandparents.

He is survived by Three sons, Tony(Jimmie Sheryl) Taylor of Winchester, TN,  Christopher D. Smith of Elyria, Ohio,  Jessie N. (Linda) Hinton of Gaithersburg, Maryland; 

Three daughters, Beverly A. (Karlton) Wells and Rosalind D. Taylor  both of Elyria, Ohio and Christy D. Hinton of Lorain, Ohio;

Mother, Florence L. Taylor of Winchester, TN; brother, Fred T. (Linda) Taylor and sister, Joann (Willie C) Hill all of Winchester, TN.  

16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and host of other relatives.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 23, 2012  11:00 am at Original Church of God with Funeral Services to follow at 12:00 Noon at Original Church of God in Winchester, TN .

6/23/12 — EDWARD WILLIAM “BILL” BURKHALTER

EDWARD WILLIAM “BILL” BURKHALTER, age 57, of Winchester,Tenn., departed this life on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the Willows at Winchester. 

Mr. Burkhalter was born in Winchester on February 10, 1955 to the late Phil Alva and Mary Frances Shirley Burkhalter. 

He was a graduate of Auburn University, a proud “WAR EAGLE”.   He was a very caring and outgoing person.  Mr. Burkhalter was a member of the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  

He is survived by his sisters; Edith (Richard) Snyder of Estill Springs and Phyllis Burkhalter of Nashville, dear friend, Oswaldo Mullins of Decatur, Ala.  Aunts;  Retha Shirley McCleskey and Nora Mae Burkhalter of Winchester, Tenn., several cousins. 

It was Mr. Burkhalter’s wishes that his body be donated to The Vanderbilt University Anatomical Department. 

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 23rd, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Tennessee Oncology and the Willows at Winchester.

In Lieu of flowers Bill requested any memorial contributions to be made to “Sharing Together Forever” fund at the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Animal Harbor of Franklin County or the charity of your choice.

6/21/12 — Fannie Ibeulah Cooper

Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Ibeulah Cooper, age 87, of Manchester, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Noah’s Fork Baptist Church with Bro. Lynn Anderson and Bro. Donald Gregory officiating.

Burial will follow in the Farrar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation with the Cooper family will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, June 20 at Manchester Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cooper will lie in state at the church on Thursday beginning at 11:00 AM.

Mrs. Cooper passed away Tuesday morning at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Mrs. Cooper was born in Coffee County, TN, the daughter of the late Robert Oscar and Betty Crocker Arnold.  She was a machine operator at Genesco and a homemaker.  She was a member of Noah’s Fork Baptist Church for over 60 years, having taught Sunday School for over 50 of those years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooper was also preceded in death by her husband, John William Cooper; five brothers, Grady, Marvin, Oscar, Jr., J.C, and Cleveland Arnold; and five sisters, Claty Anderson, Elora Anderson, Opal West, Gertie Haley, and Modean Ferrell.

She is survived by her five sons, Melvin (Molly) Cooper, Dale (Michelle) Cooper, Tony (Tresa) Cooper, Tommy Cooper, and Norman (Linda) Cooper, all of Manchester; one daughter, Linda (Mervin) Sain of Manchester; one sister, Alberta Lowe of Manchester; 12 grandchildren, Penny (Brien) McKelvey, Marty (Casey) Cooper, Britney Cooper, Brody Cooper, Madison Cooper, Traci Cooper, T.J. Cooper, Jamie Sain, Heath Sain, Kristen (Jeremy) Melton, Justen Cooper, and Savannah Cooper; and 3 great grandchildren, Austin McKelvey, John McKelvey, and Brady Cooper.

6/23/12 — William J. Dineen, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. William J. Dineen, Jr., age 79, of Manchester, will be conducted at 3:30 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Doug Hankins officiating.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM on Saturday until time of service.

Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mr. Dineen passed away Monday afternoon at Manchester Healthcare.

Mr. Dineen was born in Chicago, IL, the son of the late William J. and Anna Ryan Dineen.  He was formerly a dock worker at Consolidated Freightways.  He served his country in the U.S. Army.  He had been a resident of Coffee County since 1994.

Mr. Dineen is survived by his loving wife, Beryl Dineen; two daughters, Patricia (Terry) Bush of Manchester and Deborah (Walter) Gray of Estill Springs; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Richard Dineen, both of Chicago; and two sisters, Gloria Bandemer and Mary Ellen Pegaguesh, both of Chicago.

6/20/12 — Christine “Cricket” Breedlove Pecorino

Christine “Cricket” Breedlove  Pecorino age 52 of Estill Springs passed away Sunday at her residence.
 
She was born in Macon,GA and graduated from Bayshore High School in 1978. She loved the beach, traveling, cruising and most of all she loved the Lord and her family.
 
Survivors include her husband, Randy Pecorino of Estill Springs; mother, Sandra Weidemiller of Bradenton, FL; stepfather, Dale Weidemiller of Bradenton, FL; sister, Wendy Devine of Murphy, NC; brother, Craig Breedlove of Bradenton, FL; favorite uncle and aunt, Richard and Donna Thomas of Bradenton, FL; grandmother, Georgia Johnson of Bradenton, FL; father and mother-in-law, Ed and Helen Hall of Winchester; brother-in-law, Joseph Pecorino of Manchester; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Pecorino of Estill Springs.
 
Services will be 4 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma with Rev. Paul Purdue officiating. A reception will follow.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma would be appreciated.
