Elder Buford Eugene Turner, age 85, of Tullahoma, passed away Wednesday morning at Harton Regional Medical Center.
A native of Winchester, he was the son of the late Lewis Buford and Edith Naomi Bradford Turner.
He served God and his country as a minister, ordained in 1954, and as a brave Navy Veteran serving in WWII as a Gunners Mate.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Edens Turner in 2006.
Mr. Turner is survived by one son; Danny Eugene (Laura) Turner of Frederick, MD., one daughter; Regenia (Tony) Turner Rogers of Tullahoma, five grandchildren; Bradley Lynn (Julie) Rogers, Victoria Abigail (Keegan) Hartman, Justin Eugene (Shelley) Rogers, Virginia Ashley Turner, and Ian Ramsey Turner, three great grandchildren; Landyn Eugene Rogers, Jensen Eli Rogers, and Carson Lynn Rogers, four brothers; Robert Daniel Turner, Ira Morton Turner, Malcom Lee Turner, and Garland Richard Turner, and one sister; Wilma Naomi March.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Tullahoma Funeral Home with Elder Mike Awalt officiating.
Burial, with military honors, will follow in Union Grove Cemetery in Franklin County.

Louella Gipson Sernicola, age 90 of Winchester, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Southern TN Medical Center in Winchester.
She was born June 29, 1922 in Decherd; the daughter of the late Jim and Mary Jane (Stephens) Gipson. Mrs. Sernicola was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sernicola; sisters, Audrey Sherrill, Pearl Hill and Jo Lynn Brown, and brother, Charles Gipson.
Surviving are daughters, Mary Jane (Bobby) Turpin of Winchester, Rose Elaine (Steve) Pearson of Cowan, and Cheryl Ann (Ted) Boswell of Winchester, brother, Howard Gipson of Decherd, sisters, Margie Henley of Winchester, and Edna Crabtree of Palmer; grandchildren, Frank Turpin, Ben Turpin, Laura Garner, Jarod Pearson, Mary Ann Smith, Travis Boswell and Jim Boswell; and great-grandchildren, Leanne Turpin, Natalie Turpin, Landon Turpin, Abigail Garner, Pearson Garner, Zach Smith, Montana Smith, Isaiah Smith, Tyler Boswell, Trenton Boswell, Bailey Boswell, and Amelia Myers; sisters-in law, Rose Mackey, Lynchburg, TN , Annie Vargyas, South Bend, IN, Helen Mysko, Canton, OH and Mary Galluch, Unionville, OH, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with funeral services conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 30, 2012 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with grandson, Jarod Pearson and Bro. Ed. Boggess officiating.
Pallbearers will be Frank Turpin, Ben Turpin, Travis Boswell, Jim Boswell, Wes Garner, Bruce Smith, and Jarod Pearson.
Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.

GROVER ROOSEVELT SISK, age 84, of Winchester, Tenn. departed this life on Monday, August 27, 2012, at Golden Living Center, in Winchester following an extended illness.
Mr. Sisk was born on Keith Springs Mountain to the late John Henry and Sallie Ann Stubblefield.
He was employed for many years as a laborer at a steel mill warehouse for Raco Steel in Chicago Heights, IL. After moving back to Tennessee he worked on small engines. He loved dogs and owned several during his lifetime.
Mr. Sisk was preceded in death by his son, Carl Sisk, brothers; Vernon Sisk, Delbert Sisk and John Henry Sisk, Jr.
He is survived by sons: George Sisk, Elgin Sisk of Ga. and Robert Sisk of Winchester, brothers; Earl Sisk of Il., Burl Sisk of Belvidere, Floyd Sisk and Lester Sisk both of Winchester, A.J. Sisk of Ga., and Clyde Sisk of Belvidere, sisters; Clarisy Holman of Elijay, Ga. and Linda Sisk of Belvidere.
Visitation for Mr. Sisk is scheduled for 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday Evening in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Grant Funeral Services with Pastor Harold Steele officiating.
Interment will follow in the Keith Springs Cemetery.

Bertie Steele Whitmire, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma at the age of 92.
Mrs. Whitmire was born in Jackson County, Alabama to the late John Roy and Ethel Steele.
During her life, she worked as a cook for the Tullahoma City School System, cooking at both Robert E. Lee Elementary School and West Middle School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tullahoma, where she also used to cook for fellowship and was a member of the Kinozelian Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George L. Whitmire; and three brothers, Ray, Roy Lee and Curtis Steele.
Mrs. Whitmire is survived by two daughters, Judy Darden and her husband Ron, Clara Sanders and her husband Miles all of Tullahoma; two sons, George Richard Whitmire and George Timothy Whitmire both of Tullahoma; five grandchildren, Betsy Lynch, Joe Pless, Brad Whitmire, Zack Hodges and Whitney Whitmire; and ten great-grandchildren, Parris, Whit, MiKaley, Grant, Cameryn, Avery, Emily, Gracie, Alie and Dillon.
Visitation for Mrs. Whitmire will be held on Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Owens and Bro. Eddie Blazer officiating.

Dennis Michael Lancaster, age 54, left this world on Sunday, August 26, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on August 19, 1958 in Winchester, Tennessee. Michael honorably served his country in the United States Army. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all. Michael was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also loved country music. He is the son of Irene Francis Daniel Lancaster and the late Kenneth David Lancaster.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother; Kenneth David Lancaster, Jr., and three sisters; Shirley Avo Lancaster, Betty Jo Lancaster Keller, and Jeanette Lancaster Fletcher.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons; Jason Lancaster McCreary and Jacob Lancaster McCreary of Estill Springs, one granddaughter; Nikita McCreary, two brothers, to whom he was very close, Johnny DeWayne Lancaster and James Roscoe Lancaster, both of Tullahoma, three sisters; Mary Ann Lancaster Marray of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Rita Faye Lancaster Kesey of Tullahoma, and Brenda Joyce Lancaster Peeples of Kingland, Georgia, a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Michael will be dearly missed by his loving family. He was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, from 10:30AM until 1:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

James Lloyd Pickett Jr. (Jamie) age 47 of Chapmansboro, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2012 at his residence.
Jamie was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. He was a gifted carpenter, excelling in the art of cabinetry. He will be remembered for his warm heart and contagious smile.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Samuel Keith (Sammy) Pickett, and William Bert (Billy) Pickett; step-father Bill Stewart; grand parents Frank William Ogelvie, Bert Pickett, and Jeanetta Couch.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his mother Janie Stewert of Monteagle; father and step-mother James (J.L.) Pickett Sr. and Deborah Pickett of Chapmansboro. Sisters Lisa (Tony) Gilliam, Wendy Woodside (Jack Watts), and Christina (Bryan) West; brother James Sanders; grandmother Essie Ogelvie; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Ben Curtis, and Reverend Barry Raper will officiate.
Burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery.

Betty Levonne Rodenberg Taylor passed away on Aug 26, 2012 at McArthur Manor in Manchester, TN.
She was born on August 31, 1926 in Randolph County, Illinois to her parents, George Washington Rodenberg and Mauda Louima Ningler Rodenberg who predecease her. In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her husband John Fowler Taylor.
She is survived by her daughter Beverly Allison Taylor Vetter and son-in-law Norman Kolbe Vetter of Manchester, TN as well as her three granddaughters Brooksany Vettergreen of Haverhill, MA; Holly Vetter of Las Vegas, NV; and Autumn Vetter of Nashville, TN.
Betty graduated from Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO in 1947, having attended as part of the U.S. government’s Cadet Nurse Program, which trained nurses for wartime service. Her great love was public health, especially the areas of women’s health and childhood immunizations. She worked for the Coffee County Health Department as a Public Health nurse for 24 years.
Betty was skilled in sewing, and particularly enjoyed making clothing and apparel for her family and friends. She was also a very talented cook, and was especially drawn to international cuisine from areas where her husband’s military travel had taken her family. Betty was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and served locally as an officer and also as Fifth District Auxiliary President.
Betty was a long time member of Manchester First United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the adult choir for many years. She also taught children’s Sunday school and served on various church committees.
For the last two years, Betty was a resident of McArthur Manor assisted living facility in Manchester and truly felt love for her extended “family” of friends and caretakers there.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday evening, August 30, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service will be conducted on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Reverend Neal Glass officiating.
