Horace Donald (Don) Warren, age 85 of Decherd, TN passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 30, 1927 in Franklin County, TN to the late Frank E. and Hester Lee (Campbell) Warren.
He retired as a Sergeant with the TN State Troopers. Prior to his employment with the state of TN, he spent many years in the retail grocery business, beginning with Grant’s Store in Decherd as a manager at age 16. Moving to Nashville, he worked with Cooper & Martin Stores and with the C. B. Ragland Corporation before employment by the State of TN and returning to Franklin County. Don served as Alderman, Vice-Mayor and Fire & Police Commissioner for the City of Decherd.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn (Pratt) Warren; his second wife, Jimmie Lou (Copeland) Tanksley Warren; and brother, Paul E. Warren and his wife, Dr. Jessie H. Warren.
He is survived by his daughter, Frances Lynette Warren House; son, Eric Dale (Anita) Bohanan; the joy of his life, grandson, Dale Bohanan, II; granddaughters, Kasey (Damien) Hodges and Princess Bella; stepsons, Tony, David and Bruce Tanksley; sisters, Wilma Ruth (Edward) Smotherman, Marjorie Edwana (Rev.James) Avaritt; brothers, Norman Douglas (Betty) Warren, Richard Dale (Cheryl) Warren, all of Murfreesboro; and numerous nieces, nephews cousins and friends; and special friends, Benny and Dorothy Owens and Hazel (Maria).
Visitation with the family is 5-8 PM Friday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. James Avaritt and Rev. Ray Gardner officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. Garner Cemetery.
