11/11/12 — William “Bill” Haskell Neal

WILLIAM “BILL” HASKELL NEAL, age 79, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life on Friday, November 09, 2012, at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, following an extended illness.

Mr. Neal was a member of the Broadview Baptist Church.  He was a retired Electrical Engineer.  Mr. Neal was a member of the Winchester Masonic Lodge #158, and the Scottish Rite.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army.  Mr. Neal was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of almost 60 years as well as to his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; William C. and Cora Neal, son, Elton W. Neal and grandchild, Neal Matthews.

He is survived by his wife, Lurline Neal of Winchester.  Daughters; MaeBelle Neal of Winchester, Jennifer Deline Arnold of Huntland, sister, Janice Marlyn Howse of Murfreesboro, 7-grandchildren, 1-great-granddaughter.

Visitation with the family for Mr. Neal will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday Evening, November 11, 2012 in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services in Estill Springs with Services to follow at 4:00.  A eulogy will be given by Wade Bryson, Nephew of Mr. Neal and Bro. Neil Foster will officiate.  Masonic Rites will conclude the service.

11/8/12 — Grady F. McMillen

Grady F. McMillen, age 86, passed  away on November 5, 2012 at his home in Manchester, Tennessee.
He was a retired  Construction Welder Pipe Fitter. Mr. McMillen was born in Nashville, TN to his  parents, the late Grady Frank McMillen and Laura Mai Peyton McMillen. He was  also preceded in death by his brothers, Jack McMillen and Thomas McMillen.
He is  survived by his loving wife, Mary Virginia Davis McMillen of Manchester, TN;  son, Grady S. McMillen of Dickson, TN; daughters, Sheila A. McMillen Pennington  of Manchester, TN and Kerry R. Duke and her husband Eddie of Manchester, TN;  five grandchildren, Grady McMillen, Heather Pennington, Dru Talley, Peyton  Talley and Hannah Pennington; and a host of other relatives and friends. 
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 11:00 a.m.   until  1:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow  at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will be at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

11/9/12 — Karen Wilcockson

Ms. Karen Wilcockson, age 63, of Tullahoma, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center.

She is a native of Wilkinsburg, PA and is preceded in death by her father, Jay Bish. Karen was a waitress at Western Sizzlin for many years and was loved by all who met her.

She is survived by her mother, Evelyn (Jerry) Hendricks of Flordia, daughters, Kerri (Billy) Meeks of Tullahoma, Robin (Ronnie) Ferguson of Normandy, sons, David (Rhonda) Weeks of Tullahoma, Jason Weeks of Nashville, brother, Ronnie Bish of New Hampshire, sister, Julie (Pat) Mulholland of Texas, grandchildren, Jordan Weeks, Justin Weeks, Ashley Weeks, Jakob Weeks, Rachel Ferguson and Rylee Ferguson.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Karen Wilcockson fund care of Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 4:00PM until 5:30PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Memorial Services will be conducted Friday at 5:30PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

11/1/12 — Carroll E. “Pete” Peters

Carroll E. “Pete” Peters, age 76, of Manchester, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

He was born January 19, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of the late Earl Edwin Peters and Esther Elizabeth Klatt Peters.

Pete grew up in Quincy, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois where he received both his Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science degrees in mechanical engineering.  He then attended the Free University of Brussels (Universite Libre de Bruxelles) in Belgium where he earned his Doctorate of Science degree in applied science.  Pete was employed at Arnold Engineering and Development Center for 23 years prior to becoming a professor at University of Tennessee Space Institute in Tullahoma for 19 years until his retirement in 2000.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marilyn P. Rollins Peters of Manchester; son,  Matthew Peters and wife, Kathy Pinnell of Fort Collins, CO; daughter, Ami E. Peters Bird of Manchester; four grandchildren, Katrina M. Peters of Nashville, TN, Adam E. Lucas and wife, Brooke Winsett Lucas of Somerville, TN, Erik C. Peters of Fort Collins, CO, and Kerry B. Peters of Fort Collins, CO; “special daughter,” Tammy G. Duncan of Manchester; and beloved, faithful companion, Tiger the Golden Retriever of Noah, TN.

11/6/12 — Edie Brewer Isbell

Edie Brewer Isbell, age 75 of Decherd, Tennessee passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

She was born November 23, 1936 in Winchester; the daughter of the late Charlie and Mary (Ashley) Brewer. She was employed by Decherd Franklin Clothing.

Mrs. Isbell was preceded in death by sons, Roger and James “Jr” Isbell.

Surviving are husband, Edward “Ed” Isbell, daughters, Sandra (Mike) Killen of Manchester, TN and Patricia (Bo) Smith of Belvidere, TN, sister, Pauline (Richard J.) Horn, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.

A Funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Tuesday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. Leo Smith, Sr. officiating.

Interment will be in Keith Springs Cemetery, Belvidere, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, November 5, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave. NW, Winchester.

11/4/12 — Juanita Moore

Ms. Juanita Moore, age 69, of Tullahoma, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Harton Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Moore was born in Moore Co., TN on December 24, 1943, the daughter of the late George L. Adams and Lula Cates Adams.

She is preceded in death by her husband Glen Moore, two daughters Lisa Prince and Thersa Stewart, brother Tommy Moore and grandchild Joshua Moore.

Ms. Moore is survived by her son J.R. (Theresa) Moore of Lynchburg, grandchildren- Brandi (Larry) Smith, Sirena (Billy) Baker, Chad Prince, Kristin Prince. Great grandchildren Kyle, Wyatt, Anabelle, Macy; Sisters – Betty (Mickey) Daniel of Lynchburg, Wanda (Estel) Smith of Lynchburg, Patricia (Willie) Luna of Lynchburg; Brother – Randall (Jo) Adams of Lynchburg, and son-in-law Ricky Prince of Tullahoma.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted Sunday, November 4th at 2:00PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Hurricane Cemetery in Moore Co.

11/3/12 — Thomas “Jacky” Smith

Mr. Thomas “Jacky” Smith, age 59, of Tullahoma, passed away Thursday at Harton Regional Medical Center.

He is a native of Blue Island, Illinois. Mr. Smith attended Victory Baptist Church in Tullahoma and was a Foreman at Stanley Tool. He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Smith, a brother, Eugene Smith and a grandson, Devonte Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Smith of Tullahoma, sons, Jamie (Taneasia) Smith of Tullahoma, Deion Hanley of Tullahoma, daughter, Keisha Bright of Tullahoma, mother, Dorothy (Sam) Nease of Tullahoma, brothers, David (Sharlotte) Smith of Tullahoma, William (Judy) Smith of Ooltewah, TN, Michael Smith of Hillsboro, Tony (Becky) Smith of Tullahoma,, Steve (Jennifer) Pursley of Tullahoma, sisters, Louise Bryant of Tullahoma, Pam (Ricky) Tawwater of Tullahoma, grandchildren, Joshua and Jasmine Bright, Zaccahae Smith, DeAndre Carr, Tileshia Baugh, and Bentley Hanley and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, from 4:00PM until 9:00PM at Victory Baptist Church.

Services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00PM at Victory Baptist Church with Bro. Jack Lambert officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery.

11/3/12 — Olan Bassham

Mr. Olan Bassham, age 93, and a resident of Jewell Drive in Columbia, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bassham will be conducted on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with James Heatherly and Danny Douglas officiating.

Interment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and then again on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the service hour at Heritage Funeral Home.  .

A native of Maury County, he was the son of the late Walter Hazel and Mary Davis Bassham.

He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ. He and his wife, Frances, were married for over 70 years at the time of her passing. During most of that time, he was a minister, serving churches of Christ. In addition to Jeffersonville, Indiana, he served churches in Columbia, Manchester, Sparta, Nashville, Covington and Midway, Tennessee. During his lifetime, he also had a love and passion for music and wrote and sang with different artists in the music industry. He was a devoted and loving husband and father to his family. He was also loved and respected by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Outgoing, compassionate, giving and devoted to all who knew him, he was one of whom it could be said, “We will not see his kind again in our lifetime.” Now he has moved home to be with his wife and his Lord.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory two children: Terry Bassham of Somerville, TN and Dawn (Emory) Vankirk of Wichita (Derby), KS; two grandchildren: Lisa Demike of St. Paul, MN and Taylor Bassham of Manchester, TN; and three great grandchildren: Hunter, Jake, and Caroline Nickoloff all of St. Paul, MN.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Frances, he was preceded in death by a brother: W. H. Bassham, and a sister: Laura Skillern.

10/31/12 — Marvin Norman Sawyer

Graveside services for Mr. Marvin Norman Sawyer will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Maplewood Cemetery with Rev. Paul Purdue officiating.

Mr. Sawyer passed away Monday, October 29, 2012 at his residence in Huntsville.

He is survived by 3 sisters, Elwanda Vibbert of Tullahoma, Mary Figarola and her husband Dr. Tulio Figarola of Huntsville and Rebecca Faye Stynchula of Madison, AL, a sister in law, Dainne Sawyer of Tullahoma and several nieces and nephews.

10/27/12 — Johnny Wayne Stegall

Mr. Johnny Wayne Stegall, age 71, of  Manchester, passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 27, 2012. 

Memorial services will be held at a  later date in North Carolina.

Mr. Stegall was born in Concord, NC,  the son of the late Connie Stegall and Lessie Stowe Stegall.  He worked in road construction for  Propst Construction for over 30 years.  Mr. Stegall was a U.S. Army veteran and attended Eastwood Forrest Baptist  Church in Matthews, NC.  He was an  avid collector of ball-point pens, having over 3000 in his collection and also  collected old soda bottles.  He  enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stegall  was also preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Raeford Stegall and one  sister, Linda Morgan. 

He is  survived by four daughters, Lisa (John) Baltimore of Manchester, TN, Amie  Ritchie of Kingsport, TN, Misty (David) Richards of Matthews, NC, and Amanda  Stegall of Concord, NC; one brother, Kenneth Stegall; 11 grandchildren; and 7  great grandchildren.
