Carroll E. “Pete” Peters, age 76, of Manchester, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
He was born January 19, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of the late Earl Edwin Peters and Esther Elizabeth Klatt Peters.
Pete grew up in Quincy, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois where he received both his Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science degrees in mechanical engineering. He then attended the Free University of Brussels (Universite Libre de Bruxelles) in Belgium where he earned his Doctorate of Science degree in applied science. Pete was employed at Arnold Engineering and Development Center for 23 years prior to becoming a professor at University of Tennessee Space Institute in Tullahoma for 19 years until his retirement in 2000.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marilyn P. Rollins Peters of Manchester; son, Matthew Peters and wife, Kathy Pinnell of Fort Collins, CO; daughter, Ami E. Peters Bird of Manchester; four grandchildren, Katrina M. Peters of Nashville, TN, Adam E. Lucas and wife, Brooke Winsett Lucas of Somerville, TN, Erik C. Peters of Fort Collins, CO, and Kerry B. Peters of Fort Collins, CO; “special daughter,” Tammy G. Duncan of Manchester; and beloved, faithful companion, Tiger the Golden Retriever of Noah, TN.
