12/3/12 — William Henry Dillard

William Henry Dillard, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Friday, November 30th, 2012 at his residence at the age of 87.

Mr. Dillard was a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. During his life, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer for A.E.D.C. and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma. He was also a member of American Legion Post 43 and was in the Air Force Reserves after his active duty service.

Mr. Dillard is preceded in death by his wife, Sammie Laura Dillard; birth father, Henry Blaylock; parents, Leo and Alice Dillard; one son, William David Dillard; and two brothers, Jimmy and Tommy Dillard.

He is survived by three children, Rebecca Eloise “Becky” Mahler and her husband Bill of Savannah, GA, Suzanne Banks and her husband Kenny of Tullahoma and Lee Scott Dillard and his wife Mary of Estill Springs; two sisters, Sister Grace Marie Dillard R.S.M. of Savannah, GA and Patsy Munsy of  Columbus, GA; six grandchildren, Rebecca Mahler, William Mahler, Clay Banks, Chase Banks, Cheslyn Banks-Nestor, and Chance Banks; two great-grandchildren, Bailee Anne Banks and Gracyn Elizabeth Banks.

Visitation for Mr. Dillard will be held on Monday, December 3rd, 2012 from 10:00am-11:00am with services to immediately follow at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Beaty officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with military honors.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice Compassus in Tullahoma, 110 East Lincoln Street, Tullahoma, TN 37388-4508.

12/2/12 — JERRY LEE TAWWATER

JERRY LEE TAWWATER, age 72, of Tullahoma, Tenn., departed this life on Friday, November 30, 2012, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness.

Mr. Tawwater was born in Fayetteville, Tenn. To the late Herman L. and Thelma Barnes Tawwater.

Mr. Tawwater was the owner of Mr. Used Cars in Tullahoma.  He was in automobile sales for approximately 48 years.  Mr. Tawwater enjoyed talking with people and was a real “people person”.  He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie D. Tawwater, infant brother, Richard L. Tawwater and infant sister, Vickie L. Tawwater.

He is survived by his sons; Ricky (Pam) Tawwater, Donnie (Cherry) Tawwater ,  daughters; Belinda L. Paul all of Tullahoma, Theresa (David) Green of Estill Springs, Tenn., mother of his children and friend, Betty Hickerson Nelms of Tullahoma, sister, Shirley Phillips of Harlan, Ky, special friend, Joyce Smith of Decherd and adopted family, David and Brenda Race of Tullahoma.  Grandchildren; Heather Masters, Lance Tawwater, Rebecca (Derrick) Crutchfield, Kenny Thompson, T.J. (Amanda) Smith, Jay (Christy) Caldwell, Amanda Green, Jacob Green,  and Brandi Hershman, 13-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Tawwater is scheduled for 5:00-9:00 P.M. Saturday evening December 1, 2012 in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday evening, December 2,  in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. Jack Lambert officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens concluding the service with a dove release.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Multi-County Cancer Support Network or the American Lung Association by contacting Grant Funeral Services.

12/2/12 — Eunice Marvell Conley

Eunice Marvell Conley, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Friday, November 30th, 2012 at Morning Pointe in Collegedale, TN at the age of 83.

Ms. Conley was born in Tullahoma and was a graduate of Manchester Central High School. She was employed by Tennessee Apparel of Tullahoma for more than twenty years. Ms. Conley later went on to receive her Certified Nursing Assistant License, and worked as a CNA for many years. She was a member of Wesley Heights Methodist Church, Woodmen of the World, The Women’s United Methodist Church, former president of the Manchester CHS Band, and was a volunteer for 2 years at Harton Hospital and 3 years for the Willie Bryan Hill Auxiliary. Ms. Conley served the community for many years as a caregiver. She resided at the Morning Pointe facility, and received the love and care she gave to so many. She enjoyed travel and had been to Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Netherlands, England, Alaska and Hawaii.

She is preceded in death by her late husband of 60 years, Jack E. Conley.

Ms. Conley is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline McMillon and husband Bobby of Sevierville, TN and Janine Garland and husband Scotty of Chattanooga, TN; three grandchildren, Shannon Williams, Soynia Smith and Josh Garland; four great-grandchildren, Alex and Abby Williams, Addison Smith and Dallas Rotolo, and one great-great-grandchild, Elijah Rotolo.

Visitation for Ms. Conley will be held on Sunday, December 2nd from 1:00-2:30pm with funeral service to follow in the Kilgore Funeral Chapel at 2:30pm with Bro. John Pennington officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Tullahoma.

12/2/12 — Kenneth Cecil Burks

Funeral services for Kenneth Cecil Burks, age 73 of Manchester will  be conducted at 2pm, Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Manchester Funeral Home  Chapel with Bro. Clayton Jones officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Simmons  Cemetery. 

Visitation with the Burks  family will be from 4pm until 9pm, Saturday, December 1 at the Manchester  Funeral Home. 

Mr. Burks passed away  Thursday afternoon at the Medical Center of  Manchester.

Mr. Burks was born in Coffee County, Tennessee the son of the late Ed  and Connie Burks. 

He was a  Superintendent at Sain Construction Company and was of the Baptist Faith.  Kenneth enjoyed hunting and fishing and  was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  

In addition to his parents, he was  also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Reed Burks who died in 2010, and by  a son Danny Burks who died earlier this year.

12/2/12 — Kayla Dawn Qualls

Kayla Dawn Qualls, age 23 of Tullahoma, passed away on Monday  November 26, 2012.

A native of Tullahoma , Kayla was the daughter of Paul Qualls, Jr. and Kandy Cash Qualls.

Kayla was a factory worker and will be remember by her beautiful smile.

Along with her parents, Kayla is survived by her children,Nicholas Lee Curtis and Amberly Marie Curtis. Brothers; James Qualls, Dillon Qualls and Joe Qualls, sister; Shayna Qualls. Grandparents, Sandy Bunn, Paul and Donna Qualls and Ethel Childers and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Paul T. Cash.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012  at 3:00 P.M. with visitation beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the Lynchburg Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorials may be made at the Moore County Bank for Kayla Qualls Children.

12/1/12 — Davie William Moore

Funeral services for Mr. David  William Moore, age 75 of Beechgrove will be conducted at 2:00pm, Saturday,  December 1, 2012 at the Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Junior Stephens  officiating. 

Burial will follow in  the Gnat Hill Cemetery. 

Visitation  with the Moore family will be from 4pm until 9pm, Friday, November 30, at the  Manchester Funeral Home. 

Mr. Moore  passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at his home surrounded by his  family.

 

Mr. Moore was born in Missouri the  son of the late Wilson David Moore and Hazel Self Moore of Oak Ridge, Missouri  who survives.  He was a lifelong  carpenter and enjoyed NASCAR racing.  In his earlier years, Mr. Moore was active in car racing.  In addition to his father, he was also  preceded in death by a brother, Kelly Moore and by a sister, Velma Couch. 

His survivors  are:

12/1/12 — Wynnette Elizabeth York Gross

Funeral services for Mrs. Wynnette  Elizabeth York Gross, age 86, of the Hubbard’s Cove Community of Grundy County  will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Wesley’s Chapel  Methodist Church with Dr. Dean Northcutt, Bro. Clayton Jones, and Bro. Jess  Tenpenny officiating. 

Burial will  follow in the Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery. 

Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday,  November 30 at Manchester Funeral Home.  The body will lie in state at the church, beginning at 9:00 AM on  Saturday. 

Mrs. Gross passed away on  Wednesday, November 28, at the home of her son in  Morrison.

 

Mrs. Gross was born in Morrison, TN,  the daughter of the late Joe York and Mary Belle Duncan York.  She was a homemaker.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and  gardening and was a longtime member of the Wesley’s Chapel Methodist  Church.

 

In addition to her parents, she was  also preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Gross, a brother, Lavern York, who  was killed in the Korean conflict, and a step-brother, Jess  Tenpenny.

 

She is survived by her son, Alan (Pam)  Gross of Morrison; grandson, Brad (Donna) Gross and their children, Kelsey,  Brady, and Shelbe, of McMinnville; granddaughter, Kresta Jacobs and her  daughters, Kaylen and Anna Kate of McMinnville; special niece, Shirley  Aughingaugh; special nephew, Jess Tenpenny, Jr.; and several other nieces and  nephews; and a host of friends including special caretakers, Valerie, Charlotte,  Monica, Faye, and the staff of Aseracare Hospice.

11/30/12 — Roy George Cox, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Roy George Cox Jr., age 71, of Manchester, TN will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Case officiating.

Burial will follow at Forest Mill Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM.

Mr. Cox passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Medical Center of Manchester.

Mr. Cox was born November 1, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Roy G. Cox Sr. and Marion Hinderliter Cox. He was a U. S. Navy veteran. He was a Firefighter for the City of Dearborn, Michigan. After retiring in 1994, he and his wife of 47 years, Jennie Krug Cox relocated to his Grandfather’s property in Coffee County, Tennessee. Mr. Cox was a loving father who instilled a good work ethic in his children and always taught them to make the right choices. He was a member of the Forest Mill United Methodist Church, the American Legion and a Mason, Lodge #152 in Redford, Michigan. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and belonged to the Harley Owners Group and the Knights of the Road Motorcycle Club. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their Motor Home and spending the winters in Florida. He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association. He enjoyed working at home on his family farm and working with his hands. He was well known in the community serving as a caretaker for the Forest Mill Cemetery.

In addition to his loving wife, Jennie Cox of Manchester, he is survived by two sons: Roy Cox III and his wife Gloria of Libertyville, Illinois and Randall Cox and his wife, Darla Jo of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Tracy Cox of Royal Oak, Michigan; one sister, Sharron Gregory and her husband, Wayne of Detroit, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Roy Cox IV, Adam Cox, Mitchell Cox, Ava Cox, Samantha Cox, Lorrin Cox, Tanner Cox and Keegan Cox and his beloved dog and companion, Shadow.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Forest Mill United Methodist Church or Forest Mill Cemetery.

12/1/12 — Alma Irene Bucher

Mrs. Alma Irene Bucher departed this ole world on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her family following an extended illness at the age of 68 to touch the face of God.She was born September 24, 1944 in Ridgley, Tennessee to the late Hugh and Esther Tidwell-Boyd.

She was a former employee of the old Tennessee Apparel factory on North Atlantic Street as well as the Tullahoma School System as a cafeteria worker at several different schools. She was a member of the Restoration Baptist Fellowship Church (formerly Lincoln Heights Baptist Church) where she taught Sunday School and worked in the church kitchen.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Joe Bucher, granddaughter Kristin Tripp, and two brothers Melvin Boyd and Fred Boyd.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Paul) Tripp, one son Joe Allen Bucher, one sister Linda Rice-Jones, one brother Daniel Boyd, twin granddaughters Caitlin and Eryn Tripp, and grandsons Ian and Aidan Tripp, all of Tullahoma. Also, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nephews as well as her church family at Restoration Baptist.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, November 30, 2012, from 4:00PM until 9:00PM at The Restoration Baptist Fellowship Church at 1605 East Lincoln Street in Tullahoma.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the church with Brother Jim Powers officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
