12/9/12 — Dottie Louise Walden Slatton

Dottie Louise Walden Slatton, age 72  of Hillsboro, Tennessee, passed into eternal rest on December 7, 2012 at the  Kindred Hospital in Nashville.
She was born September 19, 1940 in Manchester,  TN  to her parents, the late Marven and Dottie Walden and was preceded in  death by her brother Richard Walden.
She was a retired Seamstress with PCA  Apparel Industries, Inc. and Edens Industries, Inc.   Louise will be  fondly remembered as  a Christian homemaker who loved to help anyone  in need by extending her hand, whether it was with a place to stay, a meal or  clothes. She loved to use her voice to sing praises to God and was a member of  the Common Salvation Church.
Louise will be missed greatly by her family and  friends, but we can thank God for the many wonderful memories that she left  behind.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Eugene Slatton of Hillsboro,  TN; children, Wayne Reed (Janice) of Hillsboro, TN, Carl Reed (Joann) of  HIllsboro, TN, Melissa Reed of Whitwell, TN, Cory Slatton (Tabitha) of  Hillsboro, TN; brother, Ronnie Walden of Manchester, TN; sister, Betty McCormick  of Manchester, TN; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host  of other relatives and friends.
VISITATION will be on Saturday, December 8, 2012  from 5:00 p.m. –  8:00 p.m.
The FUNERAL SERVICE will be conducted on  Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home  with Brother Leon Cornelison officiating.
BURIAL will follow at the Zion Hill  Cemetery in Hillsboro, TN.

12/12/12 — Charles L. Crunk

Charles L. Crunk of Normandy, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 7th, 2012 at his residence at the age of 89.

Mr. Crunk was born in Franklin County, Tennessee to the late Clyde E. Crunk and Edna Y. Crunk. In his life

Mr. Crunk worked as a Pipe Fitter for A.E.D.C. and was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served during World War II in the European Theater.  Mr. Crunk was a member of the Steam Fitter/Pipe Fitters Union Local #572 for 56 years, as well as a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church. He loved to travel and cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Crunk is preceded in death by two brothers; Newman C. Crunk, and Jerry Wayne Crunk.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Mary Hice Crunk of Normandy; two Daughters, Debbie Crownover and her husband Ronnie of Normandy, and Kathy Russell and her husband Craig of Tullahoma; one sister, Mary E. Tucker of Estill Springs; three grandchildren, Keith Crownover and his wife Lauraleigh of Tullahoma, Lori Wright and her husband Mitchell of Tullahoma, and Kyle Russell and his wife Becky of Springville, Alabama; five great-grandchildren, Tyler and Matthew Wright, Katherine and Elizabeth Crownover, and Noah Russell; and well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Visitation for Mr. Crunk will be held on Tuesday, December 11th, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home with funeral services to be held on Wednesday, December 12th at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. Tim McGehee, Garry Irvin, and Billy Ray Painter officiating.

Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Normandy.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The Bethany Memorial Fund, 1646 Riley Creek Road, Normandy, TN 37360.

12/11/12 — Ronnie Keith “Worm” Alford, Sr.

Funeral services for Ronnie Keith “Worm” Alford, Sr., age 58, of Beech Grove, will be conducted Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 1:00 PM from Coffee County Funeral Chapel.

Burial will follow at Wilson Chapel “Hoo Doo” Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 10, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Alford passed away Friday, December 7, 2012.

He was born April 28, 1954 in McMinnville, TN the son of Mrs. Nina Ruth Hockett Alford and the late, Jesse Lee Alford.  Affectionately nicknamed “Worm” by family and friends, Ronnie loved to hunt, fish and go 4-wheeling.  He loved his family and will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Keith Alford, Jr., of Chattanooga, TN; a granddaughter, Jordan Alford also of Chattanooga TN; his mother, Mrs. Nina Ruth Hockett Alford of Beech Grove, TN; two brothers, Danny Lee Alford and wife, Kathy of Beech Grove, TN; and Michael Alford and wife, Cathy of Woodbury, TN; one sister, Jessie Ruth Sloan of Murfreesboro, TN; and special friend, Kay Toler.

12/8/12 — Doris Evelyn Haley Powell

Doris Evelyn Haley Powell was born in Cannon Co. on December 15, 1930 and passed away on December 06, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley Ora Haley and Ossie Vera McDougal Haley; her husband, Odell Powell; son, Jerry Powell, son-in-law, Dale Payne; and sister, Hazel Brazzell.

A member of the Pleasant View Church of Christ, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Powell was known for her cooking and her hospitality, serving in her home and at church.

Survivors include three children, Danny (Darlene) Powell, Jeff (Miriam) Powell and Annette Payne, all of Woodbury; daughter-in-law, Judy Powell of Woodbury; two sisters, Armilda (Lenwood) Mathis of Paducah, Ky, and Faye Houston of Woodbury; 13 grandchildren, Heather (Andy) Baxter, Holly Powell, Ryan (Andrea) Powell, Johnny (Misty) Powell, Julie Powell, Jamie (Brad) Morgan, Seth (Candace) Powell, Lydia (Dillon)  Childress, Hannah Powell, Caleb Powell, Chelsey Payne and Kellie Payne; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Linwood Mathis and Bro. Jerry Gilley officiating.
Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Visitation is 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at Woodbury Funeral Home.

12/10/12 — Lois Roberts White

Lois Roberts White, of Tullahoma, passed this life on December 7th, 2012 at her residence at the age of 83.

Mrs. White was born in Bedford County, Tennessee to the late Artie and Lou Annie Roberts.

She was a homemaker and a member of the West End Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James R. White Sr.; one son, Jeff White; and three brothers, Avery, Wade and Clyde Roberts. 

Mrs. White is survived by three sons, Jim White Jr. and wife Rebecca of Alpharetta, GA, John White of Houston, TX, and Joe White and wife Cherie of Longmont, Colorado; one brother, Carl Roberts of Estill Springs; one sister, Virginia Thomas of Shelbyville; and five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Jane, Janine, and Jedidiah; and one daughter-in-law, Jocelyn of Harrisonburg, VA. 

Visitation for Mrs. White will be held on Sunday, December 9th, 2012 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 10th, 2012 at 1:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donald Gregory officiating.

Burial will follow at Lynchburg City Cemetery.

12/6/12 — Doris Elizabeth Schoberth

Doris Elizabeth Schoberth, age 87, of  Hillsboro, TN, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Middle TN Medical  Center. 

No local services are  planned.

 

Mrs. Schoberth was born in Saginaw, MI,  and was of the Lutheran faith. 

She  was preceded in death by her husband, John Schoberth, who passed away in  2002. 

She is survived by her  daughter, Sue Shinkel of Hillsboro and one son, Dennis Schoberth of MI, and one  brother, Allen Stewart of MI.

12/8/12 — William Samuel Housholder

William Samuel Housholder, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 91.

Mr. Housholder was born in Century, Florida to the late William D. and Iona Hansard Housholder.

He was a graduate of The University of Tennessee where he received a Masters Degree in Accounting. Mr. Housholder worked for many years at Housholder-Artman Accounting as a CPA. Mr. Housholder was a member of First Baptist Church in Tullahoma, The Sons of the American Revolution, AICPA and was a former Rotary member. In addition to his parents, Mr. Housholder is preceded in death by his wife Doris Housholder; four brothers and one sister.

He is survived by one daughter, Jeanie Housholder Luna and her husband Greg of Tullahoma; one son, Bernie Housholder and his wife Lou of Memphis; one brother, Dr. Charles Housholder and his wife Lou of Memphis; five grandchildren, Kristin Luna and her husband Scott, Kari Luna, Andrew Housholder and his wife Kelly, John Housholder and Rebecca Rawlinson and her husband John; and three great-grandchildren, Colt, McKayla and Margaret.

Visitation for Mr. Housholder will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 from 10:00am-11:00am at First Baptist Church with funeral services to immediately follow at 11:00am with Bro. Kal Busman officiating.

12/9/12 — Bessie Bernice Wilkinson

Mrs. Bessie Bernice Wilkinson age 92 of Pelham, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at her home.

She was a native of Walden, Georgia, a daughter of the late Dennis C. Rich and Bessie Maggie Clements Rich and she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Wilkinson. Mrs. Wilkinson attended Highland Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, David Lee (Sandra) Wilkinson of Pelham and Harry Richard (Ervina) Wilkinson of Bellvue, Washington; sister, Doris Colleen Haskins, Macon, Georgia; brother, Dennis C. Rich, Panama City, FL; 4 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Cumberland Funeral Home with Reverend John Burge officiating.

Burial will be in Warren Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.

12/9/12 — James Wilson Nix

James Wilson Nix, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 74.

Mr. Nix was born in Kelso, TN to the late Paul and Florene Nix. During his life, he worked as a truck driver for American Shared and he was also a 22 year retired Army Veteran serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Nix was a member of Unity Church, D.A.V. Post 90 of Manchester and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Harold Nix.

Mr. Nix is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margit Nix of Tullahoma, two sons, James R. Nix and wife Marla, Mark Nix all of Tullahoma; two daughters, Patricia Watkins and husband Randall of Tullahoma, Nancy Nix of Manchester; two sisters, Sarah Dortch and husband Ed of Murfreesboro, Jane Davenport and husband Alvin of Tullahoma; three brothers, Pat Nix and wife Betty of Shelbyville, Glen Nix of Murfreesboro, and Mike Nix and wife Stacey of Tullahoma; ten grandchildren, Teresa Boswell, Cherl Boswell, Phillip Watkins, Alyssa Nix, Madison Nix, Lynsey Nix, Ryan Watkins, Mallory Nix, Mark Hayden Nix, and Ethan Nix; three great-grandchildren, Preston Watkins, Raianna Gault and Damon Dotson, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Nix will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 5:00-9:00pm.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 9th, 2012 at 2:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Wall officiating.

Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery with full Military honors.
