3/31/14 — Betty Jane Bresco

flower12Betty Jane Bresco, of Tullahoma, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, March 27th, 2014, at her home in Tullahoma at the age of 85.

Mrs. Bresco was born in Elida, Ohio to the late Jesse and Bessie Brenneman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Bresco; one son, Steve Bresco; and sisters and brother, Eva Stalter, Kate Bame and Hiram Brenneman.

Mrs. Bresco is survived by one daughter, Darlene Banks of Tullahoma; two sons, Jerry Bresco of California and Tom Bresco of Virginia; two grandsons, Aaron and Adam Banks of Tullahoma; one granddaughter , Angie Bresco of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Bresco will be held on Sunday, March 30th, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31st, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim McGehee of Grace Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Tullahoma.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Grace Baptist Church Building Fund at 1901 Ovoca Road, Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388.

Coulter S. Young, M.D.

As we journey through this time of mourning the loss of Dr. Young, we also come together to celebrate his life of service to this community and our Lord.

Dr. Young was born in Watertown, Tennessee on August 23, 1924, the older of two sons born to Arthur and Myrtle Young. After his high school graduation in 1942, Dr. Young worked with the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. In October of 1943, he began his 2 1/2 year service in the Army Air Corps during World War II, with some of that time spent in India and Burma as a radio operator on a C-46 aircraft. Dr. Young received an honorable discharge from the Army Air Corps on May 27, 1946. He then returned to his job with the F.B.I. in Washington but was later transferred to Memphis and then to Nashville.

In January 1947, Dr. Young followed the Lord’s leading to pursue a career in medicine and attended Peabody College and Vanderbilt University. He was introduced to Blanche Stiles on March 27, 1949, which began their 65 year courtship. They were engaged 6 weeks later and married December 20, 1949. Dr. Young began medical school at UT Memphis in August just before their marriage. Larry, his son, was born in 1952 while Dr. Young was completing his post-graduate training at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN. He then moved his young family to Manchester, Tennessee in 1953 to open his medical practice and they soon became members at First Baptist Church. Their first daughter, Elaine was born in 1956 and Carolyn was born in 1957. Dr. Young was a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice, and a member of the American Medical Association, Tennessee Medical Association and the Coffee County Medical Society. He was instrumental in establishing the Coffee County Medical Society and served on the staff of the Coffee County General Hospital in several positions. He retired after 34 years of private practice on September 30, 1987.

Dr. Young was a member of First Baptist Church for 61 years and served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir, orchestra and men’s ensemble member and served on various committees. He was an active Gideon and was active in the community having served as Manchester Alderman and Coffee County Commissioner. Dr. Young, age 89, entered into rest on March 25, 2014 at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Young was preceded in death ny his brother, Arthur Young, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Blanche Stiles Young; son, Dr. Larry C. (Robin) Young, Old Hickory, TN; daughters, Elaine (Jack) Chandler, Murfreesboro, TN and Carolyn (Dr. Paul) Abbey, Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Lauren Young, Camille Chandler, Stuart Chandler, Kathryn Chandler, Kaitlin Abbey and Jackson Abbey.

Coulter Young was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He leaves a legacy of loving God completely, as evidenced in his love for others.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at First Baptist Church on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Brenton Cox and Rev. Bobby Zumbro officating; Rev. Bart Starr, Minister of Music.

Interment will be private at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Harvey Sanson, Jr., age 87 of Hillsboro, Tennessee, passed away on March 26, 2014 at the Horizon Health & Rehabilitation Center in Manchester.

He was a retired farmer and boiler operator.

Mr. Sanson was born in Franklin County, TN on March 12, 1927 to his parents, the late James Harvey Sanson and Sally Coker Sanson.

Mr. Sanson was preceded in death by his wife, the late Wilcie L. Sanson.

He is survived by his three sons, Mark Sanson, Stacy Sanson and Barry Sanson all of Hillsboro, TN; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home.

A Graveside Service will be conducted on Saturday morning, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church Cemetery.

4/5/14 — Dorothy Jewell Hurst

Mrs. Dorothy Jewell Hurst, age 68 of Beech Grove, Tennessee, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Centennial Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Willard Hurst, parents, Flem C. and Tommie Estalee Price Garrett, one sister, Geraldine Crist, and two brothers, Bobby Garrett and Charles Garrett.

She is survived by one daughter, Misty Hurst Jones of Manchester, Tennessee, one son Stephen Hurst and wife Patricia of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, one sister, Elizabeth Simpson and husband Alvin of Nashville, Tennessee, six grandchildren, Nicki, Christy, MaKayla, Christian, Brianna, Treay, and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hurst was a member of the Beech Grove Church of Christ. She loved to cook and crochet baby blankets. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and one of her favorite pastimes was riding the Natchez Trace Parkway. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener. Mrs. Dorothy was a caring, giving and loving mother and her children and grandchildren were her life.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Dorothy J. Hurst will be conducted on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Gnat Hill Cemetery with Brother Kenneth Thomas officiating. Burial to follow immediately.

3/30/14 —- Naydine (Ruby) Coker

Naydine (Ruby) Coker age 67 of Moore County passed away Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

A native of Grundy County she was a daughter of the late Nervie and Louis Hill and a brother, Louis (Butch) Hill, Jr.

She was a retired factory worker employed by M Teck. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Thomas Wilson Coker and his girlfriend Caroline Stokes of Pulaski and daughter Patricia Austin and her husband Terry of Moore County. Grandchildren Josh Austin of Moore County and Emily Coker of Tullahoma. Brothers, John Hill and his wife Ladonna of Hillsboro and Steve Hill and his wife Terri of Decherd and sister, Susan Willis of Kentucky and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Pl. Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will receive friends Sunday March 30, 2014 from 2-5 PM at Lynchburg Funeral Home.

Richard Joseph Dean, age 63, a loving father and grandfather, left this
world on Sunday, March 2, 2014, to take his place in heaven.

His ashes will be scattered at sea with a private ceremony.

Mr. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Betty Sibley.

He is survived by his true love, Janet Dean; his children, Kerri Dean and Jason
Dean; grandchildren, Trever Dean, Aiden Dean, and Summer Dean. Close to his
heart were Craig Myers, Keith Myers, Amanda Donahoo, Ryan Myers, Dylan
Myers, Samantha Fox, Michelle Fox, Matthew Sibley, Michael King, Rachel
King, and Stephen King.

The family would like to thank his wonderful nurse with Suncrest HHC, his
physical therapy team, and the family, staff and residents of Extended
Family Care.

A native of Tullahoma, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Geneva Huffman Gray.

She had been employed as a cook at Morning Pointe of Tullahoma.

She loved to bake and spend time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Thurman is survived by one son, Aaron “Doug” Gray of Tullahoma; daughter-in-law,

Bobbi Marshall and her husband, Carl of Tullahoma; one sister, Jodie Goodwin and her husband,

Thomas of Winchester and three grandchildren, Noah Gray, Amelia Gray and Emily Marshall

Mr. Roger Charles Doman, age 80 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed from this life on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the VA Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Harry H. and Clara Hass Doman.

He is survived by his loving wife Paula Doman, three daughters, Jamie Ussery of North Carolina, Cynthia Sovey and husband Tom of Washington state, Ilene Wisbey of Washington state, one son, Charles Rogers and wife Judy of Wisconsin, two brothers, Bob Doman and wife Claudia of Wisconsin, Jerry Doman and wife Dolly of Wisconsin, eight grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Mr. Doman was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the VFW of Florida. He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles of Washington state. Roger enjoyed tractor shows and he loved to travel. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Memorial Services for Mr. Roger C. Doman will be conducted on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Benny Benjamin officiating.
