6/28/14 —- Martha Ellen Shortridge Meeks

Martha Ellen Shortridge Meeks, age 88 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on June 24, 2014 at the Medical Center of Manchester.

Mrs. Meeks was born in Rowe, Virginia to her parents, the late Granville Shortridge and Maudy C. Street Shortridge.

She  is survived by her son, Richard E. Shortridge; daughter, Barbara J. Church & son-in-law, Danny Church; two grandsons, Ricky B. Shortridge and Nicholas G. Shortridge; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Gabriella, Kyra and Grayson; sisters, Ina Mae Green, Elsie Fay & Willard Cassidy, Mary Jane & Bill Crum, Alta Irene Justice, Ola Gay & Pete Kirkland, Joyce Ann Jones and Rebecca Jean & Dave Eckhoff; brothers, Frank W. Shortridge & wife Carol and James Carl Shortridge;  and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday morning, June 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Nash officiating.

Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Pelham, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Temple Baptist Church, Building Fund, Phase II, 66 Fairlane Dr., Manchester, TN 37355.

6/27/14 —- Kenneth Ray Moore

Kenneth Ray Moore, age 65 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on June 24, 2014 at the Medical Center of Manchester.

Kenneth was a Design Drafter with Microcraft, Inc. in Tullahoma for over 37 years and was a member of the Red Hill Church of Christ.

Kenneth will be fondly remembered as as a loving husband and father who enjoyed fishing, walking outdoors and talking with people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late J.B. Moore and Katie E. Baugh Moore, and brother, Jackie Doyle Moore.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alicea Burks Moore of Manchester, TN; son, Taylor Clay Moore of Manchester, TN; sisters, Shirley Townsend of Manchester, Lillian Bailey of Tullahoma and Peggy(Tom) Brandon of Manchester; several nephews and a niece; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 5:00 p.m.  –  8:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday morning, June 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Brother Ralph Hart officiating.

Burial will follow at the Manchester City Cemetery.

Mrs. Nancy Carol Tucker age 62 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away, Wednesday, June 25 2014 at Harton Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Tucker, a native of Tullahoma, was the daughter of the late Harl Shumake and Laura Whipple Shumake.

Mrs. Tucker was of the Church of Christ faith. She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, reading and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Curtis Tucker.

She is survived by one son, Ralph Locurcio and his companion Melanie Burnett, of Tullahoma; three daughters, Amanda Locurcio of Tullahoma, Stephanie Bass and husband Richard of Tullahoma and Samantha Tucker of Tullahoma; three brothers, Tommy Shumake of Tullahoma, Glen Shumake and wife Kathy of Tullahoma and Ricky Shumake and wife Holly of Tullahoma and one sister, Helen Waldrop and her husband Billy of Alabama and eight grandchildren.

6/24/14 —– Randal Carson Martin

Mr. Randal Carson Martin, age 72 of  Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away, Monday, June 23, 2014 at his residence.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, June 24 from 5 PM till 9 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

Mr. Martin, a native of Manchester, was the son of the late Carson and Treva Hobbs Martin.

He had worked as a construction worker. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and his dog “Max”.

He is survived by his son, Johnny Martin of Franklin, KY; his daughter, Leah Martin Stone of Glasglow, KY; two brothers, Hugh Martin of Murfreesboro and Mike Martin of Nashville; two sisters, Cindy Boyd of Indianapolis and Kay Brown of Manchester and four grandchildren.

Carsie K. Spry, 84, of Bradyville passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 at NHC Murfreesboro.  He was a native of Cannon Co. 

He is survived by his Nieces and Nephews: Keith (Gloria) Spry of AL., Patti (Bill) Brison of Murfreesboro, Melinda (Brian) Messick of Murfreesboro, Ricky (Bonita) Lowe of Manchester and Larry (Vicky) Campbell of Woodbury; Brother-in-law:  Vernon Campbell of Woodbury. 

Carsie was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley Spry & Pearl Bush Spry; his wife, Wilda King Spry; Siblings, Bertha Spry Lowe, Ottis Spry & Wilma Spry Campbell. 

Carsie was a member of the Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Army where he served in the Korean War. He was a farmer and a retired Banker.  He held certificates from the American Institute of Banking and was a graduate of the School of Banking of the University of Wisconsin.  He worked at Bank of Commerce in Woodbury, Peoples Bank of Woodbury and City Bank & Trust of McMinnville.  He retired from First National Bank in 1997 in Manchester. Carsie was a past member of Woodbury Lions Club.   

Funeral Services will be 11 am Wed., June 25, 2014 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Zumbro officiating.

Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tues., 06/24/14 and Wed., 06/25 from 10 am until time of service.

6/24/14 —– SHEILA ANN MILLER HENDERSON

SHEILA ANN MILLER HENDERSON, age 46, of Winchester, Tenn. formerly of Dyer, Indiana, departed this life on Sunday, June, 22, 2014, at her residence, succumbing to a long battle with Kidney disease.

She was born on March 7, 1968, in Chicago Heights, Ill. to the late Arthur and Sherra Bragg Miller.

Ms. Henderson was a self-employed cake decorator owning her own bakery. She received a kidney transplant approximately ten years ago. She had only recently moved to Tennessee to be close to family. She was a loving and caring sister and aunt. Ms. Henderson loved to have fun and loved going to the beach. She did get to go on a cruise with her sister just a few weeks before her illness took a turn for the worse and just last week got to attend a family reunion in Chicago she had so looked forward to.

Sheila is survived by her sister, Dawn Hayes and her husband Jody of Winchester, a brother, Doug “Taz” Miller and his wife, Tabitha of the Pleasant Grove Community and nephews; Garrett Hayes and Jeffery Long both of Winchester.

Visitation for Ms. Henderson will be from 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, June 24, until Service time at 3:00 in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Chaplin Michael Gass, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Keith Springs Cemetery in Belvidere.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Kidney Foundation or Kidney Donor Services by contacting Grant Funeral Services.

Michael David Freeze, age 51, passed away on June 21, 2014 at his home in Manchester, Tennessee surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Haskell and Nellie Freeze; and maternal grandparents, Clifford and Margaret Ferriss.

Michael is survived by his wife, Kim R. Wright Freeze of Manchester; children, Michael D. Freeze, Jr. (Sabrina)  and Kyle W. Freeze (Stephanie) of Summitville, TN; grandchildren, Kyle Freeze, Jr. and Aubrianna Freeze of Summitville; parents, David L. Freeze and Jeanette R. Ferriss Freeze of Manchester;  sister, Christy R. Freeze of Nashville; uncles, Vernon Freeze (Alice) of Manchester, Terry McGowen (Renee) and their children Hannah & Cameron   and Jerry Ferriss of El Paso, TX; friends, Russell & Earlene Farless  and Jackie Burks; and a host of other relatives and friends.

flower 13Thomas E. “Jim” Parson, age 77 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on June 21, 2014 at the St. Thomas-Rutherford in Murfreesboro.

He was a retired farmer and had worked for Seaboard Farms and the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Paul Parson and Claudia Aylor Parson; first wife, Joyce Buckner Parson; brothers, Cecil Parson, Dewey Parson and Billy Parson; and sister, Agnes Parson Howell.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Simmons Parson of Manchester and her sons, Howell Hoke and Ron Hoke; daughters, Melodie Daniel and her husband Bruce of Bradyville, Connie Rynd and her husband John of Manchester, and Page Curtis and her husband David of Humboldt, TN; son, Danny Lance and his wife V.J. of Manchester; eight grandchildren, Courtney Rynd, Christopher Rynd, Olivia Rynd, T.J. Daniel, B.J. Daniel, A.J. Daniel, Garrison Curtis and Victoria Phipps; sisters, Melba (Bob) Mahrenholz of Tullahoma, Ida Snell of Flat Springs, TN, Ann (Ned) Arbuckle of Murfreesboro, Carolyn (Bruce) Bowers of Sarasota, FL and Oma Lee (James) Shelton of Franklin, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends.

6/22/14 —– Ira Morton Turner

Ira Morton Turner, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Saturday, June 21st, 2014 at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 79.

Mr. Turner was born in Franklin County, Tennessee to the late Buford and Edith Bradford Turner.

During his life, he worked as a leather cutter for the Genesco Shoe Company and Taylor’s Leatherwear. Mr. Turner was active in the Coffee County Senior Citizens and Woodmen of the World.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner is preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Turner, Carrah Arnold, and Julia Tipton; two brothers, Eugene and James Turner; one son, Scott Turner; and one grandson, Brian Hane.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Turner of Tullahoma; two daughters, Debbie Hix and her husband Joe of Estill Springs, and Cindy Hasty and her husband Troy of Winchester; one step-daughter, Gail Hulvey and her husband Tommy of Tullahoma; one sister, Naomi March and her husband Paul of Charleston, South Carolina; three brothers, R.D. Turner of Lynchburg, Malcom Turner and his wife Mary of Tullahoma, and Richard Turner and his wife Alice of Franklin County; seven grandchildren, Derek Hane and his wife Mary, David Hix and his wife Emma, Josh Hasty, Jansen Hasty, Kent Hulvey, Kevin Hulvey and his wife Debra, and Kim Sissom and her husband Greg; and five great-grandchildren, Amelia, Kade, Kyle, Regan, and Kaitlyn.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22nd, 2014 from 2:00-4:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home with the funeral service to immediately follow at 4:00pm with Bro. Jack Hice officiating.

6/22/14 —- Frederick G. “Fred” Coles

Memorial services for Mr. Frederick G. “Fred” Coles, age 83, of Manchester will be conducted Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with his daughter, DeeAnna Morton Wilbourn presiding.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM Sunday until time of services at the funeral home.

Mr. Coles passed away at his residence Friday, June 20, 2014. 

He was born April 6, 1931 in London, England, the son of the late Frederick Coles and Eliza Rumbol Coles. Spending his childhood in England, Fred endured the trials and tribulations of World War II first hand. He learned the trade of electrical engineering while working in a theater among other places. In 1989, while living in Massachusetts, he retired from Nynex (now Verizon) after 20 years of service. He and his wife, Linda then moved to Manchester. In earlier years, Fred enjoyed wine making, wood working, traveling and fishing. He will forever be remembered as a beloved husband, father and friend. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Maureen Nolan and a sister, Shirley Gill. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Linda Morton Coles of Manchester; three children, Freddie Coles of London, England; Sherry Morton Wainright and husband, Ken of Manchester; and DeeAnna Morton Wilbourn and husband, Ronnie of Hazel Green, AL; a brother, Bob Coles and wife, Marian of London, England; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
