2/14/15 —- Marguerite “Mickey” Shelton Guess

flower 19Marguerite “Mickey” Shelton Guess, age 87 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on February 9, 2015.

Born in Hazlehurst, MS, Mrs. Guess was a homemaker; member of the First Baptist Church in Oak Grove, LA before moving to Manchester and member of the Forest Mill Methodist Church in Manchester. She loved dancing, playing old records, gardening, fishing, embroidering and cooking. Her entire life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She was always there for their sports, dance recitals, plays or just family “get togethers”. She also loved old movies with “Gone With The Wind”, “The Africa Queen”, “Forest Gump” and “Sweet Home Alabama” being among her favorites. She will be remembered as a truly wonderful mother who lived her life as an example for her beloved children to follow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Paul Guess, Jr.; parents, Burnell Shelton, Jr. and Rachel Subye Cowan Shelton; sister, Jane Austin Shelton Van Matre; brother, Burnell Shelton, III; great-granddaugter, Alexis Danielle Lowery; nephew, Jeffery K. Van Matre; sisters-in-law, Jane Shelton and Mary Shelton; and her precious and faithful little dogs, Prissy I and Prissy II.

She is survived by her children, Mickey Guess Foster (Bobby) of Manchester, Oscar Paul Guess, III (Juanita Anderton) of Tullahoma and Judy Guess Lowery (Roy Myers) of Manchester; two brothers, Thomas Edwin Shelton of Great Falls, VA and Gary Drew Shelton of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Michael Foster (Shelby), Christopher Foster (Joanna), Missy Foster (Jody Blanton), Rhonda Prater (Junior), Shane Lowery, Tiffany Guess and April Brown Holley; seven great-grandchildren, Tripp Foster, Tessa Foster, Nathan Foster, Kierstyn Prater, Amelia Prater, Paisley Prater and Brennon Blanton; numerous Shelton and Van Matre nieces ad nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 11 am – 2 pm at Central Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will also be conducted on Saturday at 2 pm at Central Funeral Home with Reverend Don Morris officiating.

Burial will follow at the Manchester City Cemetery.

2/13/15 —- Margaret Clementine “Clemmie” Williams

Margaret “Clemmie” Williams, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday, February 11th, 2015 at her residence at the age of 74.

Ms. Williams was born in Franklin County to the late John Stephen and Bertha Marie Ingleburger Williams.

She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Tullahoma.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Williams is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Avo and David Morse; and one nephew, John Morse.

She is survived by two nephews, Joe Morse and his wife Misty of Winchester, and Earl Morse and his wife Laura of Decherd; and eight great-nephews and nieces, Josie Morse, Aiden Morse, Callie Morse, Gracie Morse, Lexxie Anderson, Brandon Anderson, Dylan Anderson, and Aaron Anderson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13th, 2015 from 11:00am-1:00pm with the funeral to immediately follow at 1:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Buck Frazier officiating.

Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester.

2/21/15 —- Raymond E. Wilburn

Mr. Raymond E. Wilburn, age 73 of Beechgrove, Tennessee passed away, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his residence.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held, Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 3 PM at the Hollow Springs Community Church, 6396 Hollow Springs Road, Bradyville, TN.

Mr. Wilburn, a native of Blount County, TN was the son of the late Charles and Lora Humphries Wilburn.

He was a U S Army veteran and a member of the Hollow Springs Community Church. He was a hair stylist and owned Ray’s Hair Styling in Murfreesboro. He also owned Wilburn’s Market in Murfreesboro for many years. He enjoyed reading and watching football, especially the TN Vols and the Indianapolis Colts. He was an active church member and loved all his church family. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching movies, fishing and camping. After his wife, Joyce Adams Wilburn retired about nine years ago, the two of them enjoyed hunting in Junk and Antique Stores for those special items.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Herbert and Donald Frank Wilburn.

Mr. Wilburn is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Adams Wilburn of Beechgrove; two daughters, Tina McGill and her husband, Michael and Anna Farris and her husband, Will, both of Murfreesboro; two granddaughters, Cailsey Anthony and Claire Highfill, both of Murfreesboro; two grandsons, Seth and Sam Noah McGill, both of Murfreesboro; brother-in-law, Lonnie Adams Jr. of Nashville; three sister-in-laws, Faye Walker, Cindy Adams and Jerri Ann Adams, all of McMinnville and many nieces, nephews and friends.

LLOYD JEAN DODSON, age 72, of Decherd, Tenn., departed this life Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Gail’s Boarding Home in Decherd.

Mr Dodson was born on July 9, 1942 in Estill Springs, Tenn. to the late Herman and Ruby Bryant Dodson.

Lloyd was a member of Maranatha Worship Center in Estill Springs, Tenn. He was employed for approximately 44 years at U.T.C. Aerospace (formerly B.F. Goodrich) in Tullahoma, Tenn.

In addition to his parents, Lloyd is preceded in death by his brothers; Jimmy Dodson, John Dodson, Sam Dodson, Stanley Dodson, and Michael Dodson, his sister; Ruby Dodson.

He is survived by his sons; Lloyd Dodson and his wife Bethany of Pell City, AL, and Darrell Dodson and his wife Alisa of Winchester, Tenn., brothers; Tommy Dodson and his wife, Wilma of Decherd, Tenn., Paul Dodson and his wife, Lisa of Cahoutta, GA, Richard Dodson and his wife, Gaynell of Cahoutta, GA, Robert Dodson and his wife, Marcella of Crossville, Tenn., and Rick Dodson of Jacksonville, FL., sisters; Jenny June Dodson and Bessie Bell Dodson both of Ocala, FL., 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Rev. Spencer VanOrder, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Estill Springs.

Mrs. Frances L. Brinkley, age 75 of the Pleasant Grove Community passed away, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Samuel Paul Howard officiating.

Burial will follow at New Center Grove Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, February 12 from 5 – 8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brinkley, a native of Franklin County, was the daughter of the late Dan and Hazel Riddle.

She worked as a sewing machine operator for many years at both Tennessee Apparel and Taylor’s Leatherwear. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Eugene Mathis and Dale Brinkley; son, Ricky W. Mathis and three sisters, Hatiruth Hill, Helen Colins and Josephine Lee.

Mrs. Brinkley is survived by two sons, Paul E. Mathis of the Pleasant Grove Community and Floyd D. Mathis and his wife, Penny of Winchester; two daughters, Wanda Painter and her husband, Larry of the Pleasant Grove Community and Sharlotte J. Smith of Tullahoma; one brother, Lloyd Riddle of the Pleasant Grove Community; one sister, Pam Gill and her husband, Curtis of the Pleasant Grove Community; eleven grandchildren, Geremy, Misty, Amanda, Daniel, Chris and Aron Mathis, Tammy and Angie Painter, Tabitha and Eve Smith and Shane Baker; eighteen great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

2/12/15 —– Charles A. Osborne Jr

Charles A. Osborne Jr, passed this life on February 8th, 2015 at the age of 90.

Born in Canton, OH to the late Charles A. Osborn Sr. and Nell Thompson Osborne.

Charles was a member of the Tullahoma High School Class of 1942. He then attended Colorado College for one year in the Navy V-12 program and then graduated from The University of Tennessee- Knoxville in 1948. Mr. Osborne spent three years in the United States Navy and was onboard the USS Dobbin in Subic Bay-Philippines when World War II ended. He retired in 1987 after 35 years with AEDC where he was a buyer with ARO, Inc. and became the Manager of Purchasing; after the contract split, Charles became the Manager of Contract Administration for both Pan Am World Services and SSI. Mr. Osborne was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma since 1940 where he taught Sunday school, served as the Superintendent of Sunday school, and was on the former Board of Stewards. He also served two terms on the Board of Trustees for the Coffee County Medical Center, and three terms on the Board of Directors for the AEDC Federal Credit Union. For 18 years Mr. Osborne also volunteered delivering meals with the Meals on Wheels program in Tullahoma.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Osborne is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Osborne; one brother, Kenny Osborne; and one son Chuck Osborne.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Williamson and her husband Rusty of Tullahoma; and two grandchildren, Morgan McFarlane of Decatur, AL, and Martin McFarlane of Nashville.

Visitation for Mr. Osborne will be held on Wednesday, February 11th, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 pm with funeral services taking place Thursday, February 12th at 1:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Purdue officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma.

veteranMr. Steve A. Roberts, age 68 of Estill Springs, Tennessee passed away, Saturday, February 7, 2015.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 11 at 2 PM at the New Haven Baptist Church , 707 SE Atlantic Street, Tullahoma with Bro. Jimmy Kesey officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 5 – 8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

There will also be an hour of visitation at the church from 1 PM until service time.

Mr. Roberts, a native of Knoxville, TN was born October 9, 1946, the son of the late Garliss Roberts and Betty Fine Roberts of Tullahoma. He was a retired U S Air Force veteran serving for 23 years. He was currently employed by Advance Auto Parts. He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church in Tullahoma.

Mr. Roberts was dedicated to his family and his church. He was loved by everyone he met. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and was an avid Tennessee Vols fan.

In addition to his mother, Betty Fine Roberts of Tullahoma, he is survived by his wife, Eva Marie Roberts of Estill Springs; three sons, Bob J Roberts and his wife, Kim, Mike Roberts and his wife, Cheryl, both of Tullahoma and Steven Campbell and his wife, Amy of Goodlettsville; two daughters, Cynthia Marie Reddekopp and her husband, Chris and Beth Campbell, both of Tullahoma; one brother, Bobby Roberts of Tullahoma; one sister, Maria Bass and her husband, Jim of Estill Springs; fifteen grandchildren, Micayla, Max, Jace, Liam, Kyland, Aven and Haley Roberts, Kristopher and Aaliyah Rippy,  Kelsey, Lili Anne and Steven III Campbell; and Justin, Allyson and Meaghan Reddekopp;  three nephews and one niece.

Paul Douglas “The Voice” Laney, age 54, passed away on February 6, 2015 at his home in Hillsboro, Tennessee with his loving family by his side.

Paul was a professional baseball announcer known as “The Voice” and statistician for the Tullahoma Little League and Babe Ruth. Paul’s personal motto was “if there’s a baseball in the air, Paul will be there”.

He was preceded in death by his mother, the late Linda Wood.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy Lee Cody Laney of Hillsboro, TN; son, Paul A. Laney of Hillsboro, TN; daughter, Tasha B. Shirley Faye Anderson Driver, age 76 of Beech Grove, Tennessee, passed away on February 8, 2015 at the Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

She was a homemaker and member of the Hoover’s Gap Church.

She was born in Manchester, TN to her parents, the late Abb Anderson and Willie Jane Phillips Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Driver (2013); sister, Virginia Moore; and brothers, Donald Anderson and Dewey Anderson.
