12/27/15 — Eleanor Ruth Duncan

flower 26Eleanor Ruth Duncan, age 73 of Manchester, passed away Friday at Unity
Hospital. A life long resident of Coffee County, she was the daughter of
the late Allen and Nora Jane Cox Mayton. Mrs. Duncan loved to travel and
an avid golfer. Mrs. Duncan was an employee with the American Red Cross
from 1987-2005 where she was ended her career as CEO. After her
retirement she continued to volunteer for the Red Cross and spending time
with her family. Mrs. Duncan loved life and lived it to the fullest. She
was of the Baptist faith and she was preceded in death by her husband:
Donal W. Duncan; sister: Betty Sue Mayton Tway; brothers: James Allen,
Charles “Doug” and C.E. “Shorty” Mayton; Niece: Donna Elaine Freeze and
nephews: Dwight Alexander Mayton and Ryan Lee Casteel. Mrs. Duncan is
survived by 2 step-sons: Glen Duncan and Donal W. Duncan; other survivors
include: Phyllis Miller, Betty Allen, Paulette Thompson, Quindal Grodin,
Charles Kauderer and numerous friends, nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be held 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Central Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Blanton’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 2-3 at the funeral home

12/29/15 — Jimmy Wayne Crawford

crawfordFuneral services for Jimmy Wayne “Cat” Crawford, age 74 of Tullahoma will
be conducted at 3pm, Tuesday, December 29 at the Manchester Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Chris Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in the
Stephenson Cemetery near Hillsboro. Visitation with the Crawford family
will be from 5pm until 9pm, Monday at Manchester Funeral Home. Jimmy
passed away Sunday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy was born in the Stephenson Community the son of the late Frank and
Lucille Dunn Crawford. He was a lifelong truck driver, having worked for
Mallory Transportation and later Riddle Trucking. Jimmy was a US Navy
veteran. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a
son, Frank Crawford, by a daughter Patty Crawford, by a brother Gerald
“Jerry” Crawford, a brother in law, J. D. Riddle and his first wife,
Shirley Crawford Brawley. His survivors are:

12/30/15 — James W. Bennett, Sr.

flower 11Mr. James W. Bennett, Sr. age 88 of the Jumpoff community near Sewanee, TN passed away Saturday evening, December 26, 2015, at Golden Living in Winchester. Mr. Bennett was born in Ladd’s Cove in Marion County, a son of the late Mack S. Bennett and Clara Tate Bennett, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Joe, Mack, Fred and Charles Bennett; sisters, Mary Biggs and Dorothy Pack. Mr. Bennett was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Bennett, Sewanee; daughter, Regina Cash (Hershell Brown) of Decherd; sons, James Jr. (Crysta Austin) of Manchester and Steven Bennett of Sewanee; brother, John P. (Katherine) Bennett of Sewanee; sisters, Carol Davidson and Ellen Willis both of Nashville, Joyce Gass, Linda Stanley and Judy Copeland all of Dickson, TN; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Bill Owens officiating. Burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery with full military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday 5-9 p.m. and Tuesday 8:00 A.M. – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

powellBOBBIE KATHRYN POWELL, age 81, of Winchester, Tenn., departed this life Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems Winchester. Ms. Powell was born on May 6, 1934 in Lynchburg, Tenn., to the late William and Mary Smith. She was of the Baptist faith. Ms. Powell was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. In addition to her parents, Ms. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Powell and grandchildren; Brian Vanattia and Stacy Holman. She is survived by her son, Larry Brazier of Fayetteville, Tenn., daughter, Patricia Vanattia and her husband Paul of Tullahoma, Tenn., grandchildren; Amanda Brazier of Fayetteville, Tenn., Justin Brazier of Huntsville, AL, great-grandchildren; Jason Woodall, Lamar Foster, Victor Vanattia and Austin Homer, Jr. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. with funeral services starting at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Reverend Leo Smith, Sr., officiating. yatesCHARLES WAYNE YATES, age 64, of Decherd, Tenn., departed this life peacefully Saturday, December 27, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Yates was born in Peoria, IL on November 14, 1951 to the late Charles Edward and Mildred Elizabeth Nunley Yates. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Winchester, Tenn. Mr. Yates was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan and he loved horses, fishing and spending time with his one and only grandson, Dalton. Mr. Yates is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Yates of Decherd, Tenn., son, Stacy Yates of Decherd, Tenn., daughter, Regina Rogers and her husband, Micheal also of Decherd, Tenn., grandson, Dalton Gage Reed, and sister, Sharon Stewart of Winchester, Tenn. Vistation with the family will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015, from 11:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. with services beginning at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services with Bro. 12/29/15 — Floy Karene Fraley Wynne

wynneFloy Karene “Kakie” Fraley Wynne, age 82 of Tullahoma passed away Friday December 25, 2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Ed” Lawrence Wynne, parents George W. and Oshia Tipps Fraley, two sisters Stella(Charles) Ruch, and Ernestine(William) Mason. She is also survived by one sister in law Tweedie W. Matthews and husband’s nephew’s John Thomas Wynne and Michael E. Willis. She was a Native of Franklin County, but resided in Tullahoma for 58 years. She is survived by one loving, loyal and dedicated son Fatmir “Lucky” Visha, one brother George(Betty) Fraley, several nieces and nephews a host of family and friends, and special caregiver Gary Ashley. She was a lifelong member of Bethel Methodist Church in the Broadview Community of Franklin County, Tennessee.
Ed and Karene owned and operated Wynne Office Supplies on West Lincoln Street in Tullahoma. In addition to the sale of the office supplies, they also sold Underwood and Olivetti typewriters and office machines, primarily selling to schools and small businesses throughout the state. Together they enjoyed travelling and were able to visit 27 countries some more than once Mrs. Wynne began her career with Kuhn’s in high school, which eventually became Big K then was bought by Wal-Mart. In honor of her retirement, Sam Walton himself flew her in his own private plane to Bentonville, Arkansas on recognizing her for exemplary service, dedication, and her longevity of 47 years of employment, this even exceeded Mr. Walton’s service with Wal-Mart. Karene was the matriarch of the Fraley Family, she organized family holidays, celebrations and special occasions. She loved her extended family, making every effort to provide support in anyway her and Ed could. She had a kind, loving, and supportive heart, she was a giver and was a great example for others. Floy Karene”Kakie” Fraley Wynne will be dearly missed by all of the people whose lives she has touched throughout her lifetime.
The family will receive friends on Monday December 28th, 2015 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Tullahoma Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 11:00am at Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Peter Whalen to officiate, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Following the interment the family will be having a reception time at Tullahoma Funeral Home for all who would like to attend.

flower 23Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Haggard Murphy, age 89 of Morrison will
be conducted at 1:00pm, Tuesday, December 29 at the Manchester Funeral
Home Chapel with Kevin Deason officiating. Burial will follow in the
Viola Cemetery. Visitation with the Murphy family will be from 4pm until
8pm Monday, December 28 at Manchester Funeral Home. Mrs. Murphy passed
this life on Thursday, December 24 at her home surrounded by her loving
family.

Mrs. Murphy was born in Coffee County, Tennessee the daughter of the late
Albert and Ethel Farrar Haggard. She was a bookkeeper for Shelton Motor
Company and was a member of the Viola Church of Christ. Mrs. Murphy was
a member of the Viola Women’s Improvement Club and enjoyed collecting
buttons, sewing and needlework. In addition to her parents, she was also
preceded in death by her husband, Tom S. Murphy and by a sister, Merle
Lowe. Her survivors are:

Son- Tommy Murphy of Viola
Granddaughter- Elizabeth S. Price and her husband Aaron of Christiana

flower aFuneral services for Mrs. Patsy Jo Howse, age 60 of the Pocahontas
Community will be conducted at 2:00pm, Sunday, December 27 at the
Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with John Bush, Tim Cunningham and Terry
Milburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery.
Visitation with the Howse family will be Saturday, December 26, 2015 from
5pm until 8pm at Manchester Funeral Home. Mrs. Howse departed this life
on Thursday, December 24 at the River Park Hospital in McMinnville.

Patsy was born in South Carolina the daughter of the late Clara Mae
Simmons Davis and Vernon Davis who survives. She was an example of
strength and resilience. Patsy’s past several years had been filled with
many health issues, however she fought her illness and enjoyed her life.
She never gave up hope and she used her strength , courage and “never
give up” attitude to attend all the family events she could. She was the
epitome of a fighter as she raised her granddaughter Lily. Her example
is one that we all can learn from and know that fighting for family can
really make the difference. Patsy was a member of the Crossroads Church
of Christ and loved flowers, shopping and spending time with family and
friends.

In addition to her mother, Patsy was also preceded in death by her
grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Simmons and Mr & Mrs. J.W. Davis. She is

mcalisterLouise E. McAllister, age 95 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Harton Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Funeral Services are scheduled for Sunday, December 27 at 3 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 2 PM until the service time.
A native of Tullahoma, she was the daughter of the late E R and Thelma Robinson Steed. Mrs, McAllister was one of the oldest native citizens of Coffee County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross. She and her late husband, William “Mac” C. McAllister traveled extensively and enjoyed playing golf at Lakewood Country Club. She also enjoyed working in her yard.
She is survived by one son, Bill McAllister and his wife, Joyce of St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Karen Bennett and her husband, Mike of Fayetteville; one sister, Doris Brown of Tullahoma; three grandchildren, William McAllister III and his wife, Stephanie, Patrick McAllister and Heather Kastanas and her husband, Kyle, all of St. Louis, MO; two great grandchildren, William McAllister IV and Chloe Louise McAllister and several nieces and nephews.

Doris Allene Nunley Hargis

hargisDoris Allene Nunley Hargis Born February 3, 1929 in Palmer, TN Deceased December 19, 2015 in Tucson, AZ Affectionately known as “Squeak”, Allene was the daughter of Graham Nunley and Sarah Cannon Nunley of Grundy County, TN (both deceased). She was preceded in death by husband Clayton Ray Hargis (12-02-71), son Roland Clay Hargis (05-01-73), and grandson Nathan M. Hargis (Nate) (07-16-2005). She is survived by sisters Judy Elliott (Charles deceased) of South Pittsburg, TN and Clara Ruth Tate Holt (Bill deceased) of Jasper, TN.; and brother Billy Ray Nunley (Ruth Bouldin Nunley) of Gruetli-Laager, TN. Daughters Venessa Hargis Ziegler (Mark) of Tucson, AZ, Angela Hargis Linder of Palm Beach, FL, Sarah Hargis Gant of Tucson, AZ. Sons Steve Hargis (Myleen) of Los Angeles, CA, Nathan Hargis of Tampa, FL, Michael Hargis of Albuquerque, NM and Jeffery Hargis of Albany, GA. Fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Squeak loved her family deeply and was loved deeply by each of them.

Allene was born and raised in Grundy County, TN, living in Palmer, Coalmant, and Gruetli-Laager. She attended Palmer Elementary and Grundy County High where she was a four year letterman in basketball and a cheerleader. She also attended David Lipscomb College. Allene and family moved to South Pittsburg, TN, in the 1960’s. She worked for many years at the South Pittsburg Knitting Mills, helping support her eight children. After the unexpected death of her husband, Clayton Ray Hargis, Allene moved to Florida and lived there for many years. She spent the final thirteen years living with her daughter Venessa in Florida and Arizona. She leaves behind a loving family, and many friends and neighbors who mourn the loss of a great lady and friend. Allene requested a simple graveside service and will be laid to rest at Fall Creek Cemetery between her husband and son. Rest in peace, Squeak.
