Barry Craig West

Barry Craig West died peacefully in his sleep Saturday evening after a staunch battle with cancer. He was 73. West was a voracious reader of history and a learner, turning his life over to teach ACT prep at Franklin County High School eight years ago. His classroom was filled with words about English, reading, current events, geography and life lessons. He carried his joy of teaching into his secondary classroom at Rutledge Falls Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for 26 years and was a member. Previously, he had farmed and co-owned a home inspection business with his wife, Cindy. He spent an additional 32 years at Tractor Service Company in Manchester. West was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. 
He is preceded in death by his parents, William West and Daisy Belle Bush West Worsham. He is survived in death by his wife, Cindy Slack West, who he was married to for nearly 35 years. West had two children, Devin (Murfreesboro) and Emily (Franklin). Both had the pleasure of sharing with him their round faces and jet-black hair. He is further survived by his sister, Nancy West Bryson (Tullahoma) and her husband Robert; his grandchildren Hunter West and Sawyer West (Murfreesboro); his nephew David Bryson (Jackson, MS); niece Melissa Bryson Thomason (Knoxville); nephew Stephen Bryson (Dothan, AL) and nephew Stewart Bryson (Atlanta, GA). Visitation for Barry will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 from 5:00-8:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Wednesday, May 13 at 1:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Mike Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Tullahoma. For those who wish, the family asks that donations in Barry’s memory be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital- 501 St. Jude Pl. Larry R Baker

Larry R Baker of Hillsboro, TN. passed this life on Friday, May 8, 2020 at
the Horizon Health and Rehab in Manchester at the age of 66. Memorial
Services will be announced at a later time.

Mr. Baker, the son of the late Lloyd and Margaret Chitwood Baker, was born
in Franklin County.  He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed working on cars,
riding motorcycles and building model cars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Freida Baker of Hillsboro; son, Joshua Baker
(Brandy) of Manchester; daughters, Amanda McCune (Doug) of Bell Buckle and
Brandy Murphy (Jammy) of Manchester; brothers, Glenn Arthur Baker of
Hillsboro and Roger Baker (Debbie) of Manchester; sister, Mary Kimbrell of
Tullahoma; nine grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Edward Watson Hensley

Edward Watson Hensley of Estill Springs passed this life on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at his home at the age of 92. Mr. Hensley was born in Perry County, TN to the late Theodore Washington and Bessie O’Guinn Hensley. During his life Mr. Hensley worked as a truck driver for Columbia Dairy, Noblitt Oil, and Walker Oil Company. He was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed woodcrafting, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Watson was preceded in death by one brother, Luther Delbert Hensley. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lola Elizabeth Robertson Hensley; two sons, Lester Hensley and his wife Judy, and Lee Hensley; five grandchildren, Leslie Lewis and her husband Brian, James Hensley and his wife Bridget, Julie Stines and her husband Jared, Mike Hensley and his wife Stacey, and Brandon Hensley; seven great-grandchildren, Rachel and Dylan Latham, Brooklynn and Bryant Stines, Ashton Thomas, and Wyatt and Honey Hensley; an adopted son, Bobby Metcalf; and his loyal mutt, Rhet Rhet. Visitation for Mr. Hensley will be held on Monday, May 11 from 5:00-8:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, May 12 at 2:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Richard Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Garden with James Hensley, Mike Hensley, Jared Stines, Brian Lewis, Bobby Metcalf, Dylan Latham and Brandon Hensley serving as pallbearers. Estell “Woody” Woodard Haley

Mr. Estell “Woody” Woodard Haley, age 77, of Tullahoma, TN passed from this life on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Woody loved to fly RC airplanes, watching Westerns and Nascar on TV. In his younger years he loved to race at the local dirt and asphalt tracks. He especially loved spending time with his family. Woody will be remembered as a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Estell and Beulah Haley; one brother; four sisters and his beloved dog, Star. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Christine Haley; daughter, Pamela Shahan; stepchildren, Ricky Sweeney (Peggy), James Sweeny (Edith), John Sweeney (Melanie) and Elisha Foster (Mark); sister, Geneva Haley; three grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

David Wayne Powers

David Wayne Powers of Tullahoma, TN. passed this life on Wednesday, May 6,
2020 at his residence at the age of 58. Memorial Services will be announced
at a later time.

Mr. Powers, a native of Michigan, was the son of the late Virgil Vance and
Shirley Lawton Powers.  He loved being outside working in his yard and
garden. He enjoyed “Tinkering” and working on cars.  He also enjoyed
fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Hattie Powers of Tullahoma; sons, Jason McCarty
(Valerie) of Pulaski, Michael Powers, Bradley Fletcher, Jeffery Paul and
Michael Fletcher, all of Tullahoma; brothers, Tony, Russel and Brian
Powers, all of Michigan; sisters, Kimberly
Sikes, Michelle Scarphone (Ricky), June Mishler (Pete), Amy Powers and Lila
Canfiald (Bill), all of Michigan; eleven grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.

Olgica Stajanov Stojic

Ms. Olgica Stajanov Stojic, age 91 of Wartrace, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Ms. Stojic was born on November 18, 1928, to the late Svetolik and Josefina Milicev Stojanov in Yugoslavia. She was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith.
Ms. Stojic is survived by her son, Dan Stojic of Murfreesboro; daughter, Snezana Campbell, and husband, Mike; four grandchildren, Tasha, Melissa, Mark, and David; and one great grandchild, Ethan.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 8 at 1:00 P.M. at Hurricane Cemetery.

Charles Edwin Laxson 5/8/20

Charles “Josh” Edwin Laxson of Morrison, TN. passed this life on Monday,
May 4, 2020 at his residence at the age of 90. Funeral Services are
scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2020 at 2 PM at the Morrison First Baptist
Church with burial to follow at Providence Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 12 PM until the service
time

Mr. Laxson, a native of Hillsboro, was the son of the late Jessie Cecil and
Mary Grooms Laxon. He loved being with his family and grandchildren.  He
was an active member of the Morrison First Baptist church and served his
church as a Deacon and a member of the maintenance committee. He also
enjoyed cooking, woodworking and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lowanda
Maxwell Laxson; brothers, J C Laxson Jr, Bill Laxson, Dan Laxson, John
Laxson and “Red” Laxson; sister, Jesse Kelly and grandson, Britt Wilson.

He is survived by daughters, Sondra Blake (David) of Morrison, Regina
Wilson of Milwaukee, WI and Beth Grubbs (Kurtis Michael) of Morrison;
fifteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

Donald Eugene Bond

Bond, Donald Eugene, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 at his home at the age of 90. Mr. Bond was born in Topeka, Kansas to the late Virgil Arlee Bond and Susie Anna Gillan Bond. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean Era and then went on to work as a Wind Tunnel Supervisor with Sverdrup Technology. Mr. Bond was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma as well as the American Legion and the Kiwanis Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Wayne Bond; three sisters, Joyce, Helen and Carol; one brother, Larry Bond; and one grandson, Robert Bond. Mr. Bond is survived by his wife, Marty Bond; daughter, Linda Keown (Jim), son, James Bond, daughter, Donna Motlow (Doug); daughter-in-law, Tina Bond; three grandchildren Chris Bond (Hannah), Chad Bond, and Paige Bond; and two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Samantha. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7th, 2020 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 11:00am-12:30pm with a graveside service to immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery with Rev. Rickey Wade an Esther Sims officiating. Kilgore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Douglas Trent Roorda

Douglas Trent Roorda age 55 of Manchester, TN, passed away suddenly April 29, 2020.  He was born June 9, 1964 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Garry and Judith (Vanderkleed) Roorda of Sugar Hill, GA.

Doug graduated from Fayetteville Manlius High 1982, Purdue University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Geology and a MS from University of Tennessee Knoxville   He was a science teacher at Westwood Middle School for 32 years.  

In addition to his parents he is survived by bothers Steven and his wife Shelli of Bluffton S.C. and Michael and his wife Carolyn of Rochester, NY.   Nieces and Nephews, Jennifer (Andrew), Julie (Frank), Jonathan (Niki), Michael (Bridget), Sara (Brennen) and Matthew.  Grand Nieces Delaney Connett and Amelia Roorda and Grand Nephews Michael Joseph Roorda and Braylon M Roorda.  Significant other Mary Warner Beard.  

He was a follower of his savior Jesus Christ. We are comforted by the wonderful life he lived.  We will never forget his love of travel, adventure, sports, science and music. A service of celebration will be held at a later date.  Those who wish to remember Doug in a special way may make gifts in his  memory to Toys for Tots or Eldridge Children’s Home, eldridgetoyrun.com or charity of your choice.

5/2/20– Susan A. Starbuck

Manchester, Tennessee – Mrs. Susan A. Starbuck, 55, of Decatur, Indiana
passed away Thursday morning, April 23, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort
Wayne, Indiana.

She was born on November 20, 1964 in Cook, County, Evergreen Park, Illinois
to Clifford and Wanda Burnaine Lumpkins.

Susan had worked as a CNA at various nursing homes and in-home health care.

She is survived by her former husband, William F. “Bill” Starbuck of
Decatur, Indiana; parents, Clifford & Wanda Lumpkins of Manchester,
Tennessee; and sister, Lisa (Tim) Howe-Lister of Decatur, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tara Suzette Starbuck in 2007
and her brother; William Daniel Lumpkins.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday in the Central Funeral Home
chapel with Minister Harold Carroll officiating with burial in the
Hillsboro United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hillsboro, Tennessee.  Visitation
for the family will be 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Saturday at Central Funeral Home,
