Lady Raiders Finish 3rd In The State

Freshman Bethany Baker gets one of her seven hits in the state tournament... By Barry West

The game that would have put the Coffee County softball program in a position they had never been before did not work out the way the Lady Raiders wanted. If Coffee County had beaten Daniel Boone on Friday, the The Lady Raiders would have played for a state championship. The Lady Raiders fell to the Lady Blazers 7-1 on Friday morning in the TSSAA state tournament. Coffee County finished in 3rd place, the same as they did in 1998.
Chelsea Howell homered for the 3rd time in the tournament to set a new record for the most home runs by a player in one tournament. As a team the Lady Raiders were just one shy of a team record for homeruns in the tournament with 6. Daniel Boone set the record with 7.
Coach Terry Floyd said he very proud of the girls as they left their stamp on the tournament.
