6/13/12 — John Pope Bennett, Jr.

Mr. John Pope Bennett Jr. age 52 of Nashville, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2012 at Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville.

John was born on May 20, 1960 to John Sr., and Daisy Bennett.

Survivors include his daughter Jessica Lorin Bennett of Carthage, Tennessee; His parents John Bennett Sr. and Daisy Flippen Bennett of Sewanee, Tennessee; his Significant other Karen Hughes of Nashville; step-children Mandy Patterson, Casey Hughes, J.D. Hughes, and Mathu Hughes all of Nashville; grandchildren John Michael Bennett, Raven Tennile Bennett, and Trinity Ariahna Bennett all of Carthage; sisters Linda Bennett, Annette Garner, Ruby Dill, and Clara Bowles.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Bill Owens will be officiating.

Burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

6/11/12 —- Clarence Eldon Nunley

Mr. Clarence Eldon Nunley age 76 of Coalmont passed away June 8, 2012 at Emerald Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee.

Mr. Nunley was the pastor of Chestnut Springs Congregational Methodist Church for many years, and was a retired engineer from Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Mr. Nunley was preceded in death by his father James Hobert, his son Donnie Lee Nunley, grandson Ronnie Joe Nunley, brothers Maxie Nunley, William (Bill) Nunley, and Charles Nunley; sisters Elaine Shadrick, and Gladys McGee.

Survivors include his loving wife Judy Nunley; his mother Mary Nunley; Children Ronnie (Beverly) Nunley, Debbie (Louie) Ladd, Michael (Brooke) Nunley, Teresa (Tim) Nunley, and Sherri (Kim) Campbell; brothers and sisters Janie (Wayne) Smartt, Jean Nunley, Lois (Doug) Seagroves, Donna (Bernie) Knost, Ruth (Billy) Braden, Joe (Ann) Nunley, Pam Nunley (Craig), Kate (Barry) Braden; grandchildren Alicia, Angela, Allison, Marilu, Michael, Niqui, Colton, Derrick, and Christopher; great-grandchildren Drew, Jack, Emma, and Caitlin.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 11, 2012 in the Chapel of Foster and Lay Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Caldwell and Reverend Ray Winton officiating. Burial will be in Coalmont Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral Home.

Hall Of Fame Coach Comes To Coffee County

Celebrities, professionals, and the local community may have participated in the fifth annual Willowbrook Pro-Am Golf Classic held last week, but one thing was certain:
The tournament was all about the youth of Coffee and Warren Counties.
The money raised from the classic benefits the Coffee County Junior Golf Association as well as educational opportunities in Warren County including the Citizen’s for Progress Scholarship Program.
Over the past four years, the Classic has raised $235,000 for the youth of Coffee and Warren Counties, including $70,000 last year, alone.
The Classic had been known to bring out the local community, as well as celebrities alike, to raise funds for the Coffee and Warren County organizations. Celebrities that have participated in the past have included Vince Gill, Otis Nixon, and Johnny Majors. National College Football Hall of Fame inductee and Winchester native, Phillip Fulmer was one of the featured celebrities this year.
“It means a lot to me to be able to come out and support two worthwhile charities,” stated Fulmer. “It’s really great to be back in this area. It feels like home.”-Nick Trail Manchester Times-

6/6/12 — Frances M. Lewis

Mrs. Frances M. Lewis, age 79, of Tullahoma, passed away Wednesday at Harton Regional Medical Center.

A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Tullahoma Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Manchester Little League Wrapping Up City Tournament

On Friday night at Fred Deadman Park in Manchester the Minor League division championship was decided. Mark Lemons Construction beat John Roberts Toyota 9-7 for the trophy.
Tonight (June 11) the Major League division heads to the quarter-finals.

Warren County Player Signs With Motlow

Warren County High School in McMinnville senior Morgan Frye has committed to continue her education and athletic career at Motlow College. She signed recently adding to the several new players Coach Tori Rabi-Gentry has brought in to be a part of the Lady Bucks.

Tullahoma Man Charged In Church Burglary

After weeks of investigation, a Tullahoma man has been arrested on charges of breaking into Cedar Lane Church of Christ in late April.
Michael Cyree, 37, of Breckenbridge Drive was arrested Friday afternoon by Investigator Ty Brazier and charged with the April 30 crime. Cyree is charged with burglary, felony theft and vandalism and is being held in the Coffee County Jail under a $115,000 bond.
Cyree is accused of entering the church building and knocking a hole in the wall to the secretary’s office and stealing more than $20,000.
There have been seven churches in all broken into in Tullahoma. They are Cedar Lane Church of Christ, Covenant Presbyterian Church on Highway 55, Trinity Lutheran Church on Wilson Avenue, Faith Lutheran Church on Bragg Circle, Westside Nazarene Church on Westside Drive, King Cross Church on Turkey Creek Road and the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints on the Old Shelbyville Highway.
According to Lt. Jason Ferrell, the investigation into other church burglaries is continuing and investigators are following up on several leads they have developed during the investigation. “Other charges are pending in the other burglaries” Ferrell stated.

Man Arrested On Dollar General Robbery Charge

Police have arrested a man in the robbery of the Hillsboro Dollar General Store as well as the shooting of a manager at the Dollar General in Antioch. Akeem Forman, 22, was arrested Thursday night and charged with especially aggravated robbery. Forman allegedly admitted to police to robbing a Subway in Smyrna and the Dollar General store in Hillsboro. Police also discovered items taken from the robberies inside his residence. One of the employees identified him from a photo lineup. He was booked on a $75,000 bond, and is scheduled to be in court on June 13. Forman will be brought to Coffee County at a later time.

Police Work Hard During Bonnaroo

According to Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves, more than 335 people at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival have been issued citations for various charges. Graves added that close to 40 people were arrested. Most of the arrests are for theft and drug related charges.
The citations numbers are up from 2011 totals with arrest being close to the same amount. As of Sunday afternoon no deaths have been reported compared to two last year. The Sheriff says that could change when reports come in from hospitals.
The numbers given are only from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department.

Tullahoma Man Heads To Federal Prison For Child Porn

Tullahoma resident Denver Cole was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography. The federal judge told Cole that after he served his prison time he will be on probation for 20 years.
He was arrested by FBI agent Richard Poff and Chris Layne of the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit station in Winchester.
